"Don't worry about it," Akira-bāsan waved off, "Just know that, in the end, you guys will be friends!"

"Hatake-kun bothering you again, Obi-chan?" his grandmother's voice called, far too amused, when he came stomping into the house.

Obito winced at the nickname but his want to vent about his teammate was greater then his embarrassment, "That- that Bakashi!" He burst, stomping into the kitchen where his grandmother was making dinner. "He's such a jerk! And so arrogant, calling me deadweight! So what if I don't know how to Water Walk yet and my Tree Walking isn't the best!? I can still use fire jutsu and kunai! And my taijutsu is pretty good too! Just because I'm not a genius like mister perfect! So what!?"

"Oh," Akira-bāsan blinked at him as he threw himself into a chair, pleasantly surprised. "You didn't forget to take your shoes off thins time."

"Obāsan..." Obito whined, pushing his bowl away to let his head fall onto the table. "I'm complaining here, at least have some sympathy..!"

His grandmother laughed, "I would, Obi-chan, but you are always complaining about Hatake-kun these days. Why, if I didn't know better, I would think you had a crush on Hatake-kun instead of Rin-chan!"

"Obāsan!" he cried as he jerked upright, flushing at the insinuation. "I don't- why would- It's Bakashi! How could you say something like that!?"

She giggled at him, "You make it too easy, Obi-chan."

"You don't understand," Obito complained, mildly frustrated. "We're supposed to be a team! But Kakashi is too much of a jerk for us to act like one!"

Nesting Practices of Jōnin

Fandom: Naruto

Summary: "You...made a nest..?" Rin asked, confused.

"You made a nest!" Obito reiterated, gleeful over the development.

Kakashi though, he was incredulous, "You made a nest?"

Minato coughed sheepishly.

Misc.: Because I now need Minato fussing over his team while they’re in a nest he made (and the image of the three hunkered in said nest while Minato looms before them, wing spread threatening against someone trying to take his team from his nest is something I desperately want and makes me wish I could draw people).

Of course there's also complete unnecessary things that stick in my mind; like how Sakumo had these giant white wings with pale-blue flecks that acted as a conduit for when his wings are channeling lightning, how there's a giant tree in the middle of Konohagakure with a hole in it that used to be Hashirama (and Mito's) nest and Academy students/Genin dare each other to spend an entire night there without being dragged out, how Nukenin don't have wings because they were cut off, how only really shinobi have wings due to their use of chakra (which also allows them to be adapted to use jutsu like Sakumo's) but Clan/Shinobi-born civilians also tend to have wings though they are mundane/normal wings like sparrows.

Except;

"You're late-" Kakashi paused, took in the sight then hissed. "What are you doing?"

Obito blinked, looking up from where he was using a tree as a scratching post. "My wings-" the boy said, going back to rubbing against the tree. "They're itchy."

He paused because the Uchiha didn't look injured and the only other reason for a person's wings to be itch were- "You're molting."

"W-what?" his teammate paused, gapping at him.

"Molting," Kakashi repeated but the, now, teenager looked no more understanding then before. "This is your first Molt?"

Obito, confused but taking the tone and question as an insult, flushed. "Shut up!...what's a Molt and why's the first one important?"

It Was Implied

Misc.: Because I have a great soft-spot for Team As Family stories and a great need for Minato acting like a father towards his team and parenthood is so implied when one becomes the jōnin-sensei of orphaned genin.

Except;

Minato, of course, knew that his team was growing up but it was peripherally, acknowledgment in a shinobi kind of way; they were growing out of their clothing so they'd need to get their under-armor refitted, longer limbs created a better range for melee weapons, chakra reserves expanding meant that more jutsu could be learnt while their bodies grew more durable with greater stamina. So, he was aware of his team growing up but it didn't really register, wasn't really something he knew until That Mission That Will Never Be Mentioned Again. That Mission started out fine, and conditions were that everything should have been fine and without incident.

This was not so.

Things started going bad when, after they delivered their first pack of sealed supplies to the inner-ring outpost a days run from Tanzaku Gai, Kakashi approached Rin after they had set up camp for the night and Rin asked, "Did you need something, Kakashi-kun?"

"You smell...different." the chūnin told her.

She, of course, blushed while Obito fumed silently, "Oh, um. I've been using a new soap that Kurenai recommended for me..."

"...it's smells weird." Kakashi told her bluntly, leaving after telling him, "I'll go hunt."

"Th-that- that jerk!" Obito sputtered before whirling towards Rin, who was now red with mortification at her crush telling her she smelt weird. "Don't listen to him! I think you smell amazing!"

There was a lizard; it was green, large-eyed and kind of awkward looking in how it's body was proportioned.

It was also staring at him.

"Um..." Skull muttered to himself, glancing around a bit- no one was paying him (or the lizard) any attention other then the occasional annoyed look for being in the way of foot traffic- then down to his hands holding his lunch. All the while the lizard stares, a bit creepy but also kind of adorable, so he offers the arm holding the take-out bag, knuckles pressing against the wall the lizard was settled on. "I don't know if I have anything you can eat but, well, want to join me for lunch?"

...he tries real hard not to think how, well, pathetic it is that he's asking a random lizard he saw on a wall to be his lunch partner but the lizard's eye kind of rolls, a tongue flicking out before it makes it's way onto his hand, moving along his arm until it's on his shoulder so Skull counts it as a win.

Excerpt:

"They talk about you, you know?" the words came unexpectedly, just as the their owner had, but the unknown Uchiha that had approached him didn't seem to expect a response and went on talking. "The Clan." the Uchiha said, as if an explanation were needed. "They're angry and don't believe you deserve that Sharingan eye."

Which was true, Kakashi acknowledged as he suppressed the urge to touch the covered eye.

"I'm glad, though, that at least there's something of Obito left- he always liked being able to help people." the Uchiha said before starting to walk away.

That...no one had said that, the Uchiha Clan had made their opinions clear and his teammates- like himself- only felt guilt when confronted with Obito's eye. "Wait," Kakashi called before he made a conscious decision to do so, "You-...who are you?"

It wasn't what he wanted to ask but it's what he said.

"Me?" the Uchiha turned back, the word coming out almost like a laugh. "I'm Uchiha Shisui."

Excerpt:

It was the right choice, he'd thought when he made it and as he returned home with a full team.

"It was the wrong choice," they told him when he reported mission failure and the reason for it. And, when they learnt his choice and the repercussions that would follow, the village hissed, "Traitor."

"They say you're a traitor," his son told him then asked, "Are you?"

No, he thought but couldn't say. Not when the entire village- from first year Academy student to senior Council members- seemed to believe it, not when this fact cause doubt to stir in his breast.

Sakumo wasn't...the best father, it was a failing of his that he was intimately aware of, but he was, by shinobi standards- particularly by single-parent shinobi standards, a good one; he knew what missions (and how many) Kakashi took along with what techniques the boy's sensei taught him, he (however sporadically) trained with his son when in the village, he'd been lucky enough to not have missed either a birthday or promotion of his son's and, if he didn't see Kakashi more the an accumulative four months a year (if he were lucky), he managed to keep a regular correspondence with his son thanks to his summons' agreement to carry letters between them.

He, also, had never lied to his son before and had no intention of doing so which meant, with doubt curling in his heart and dismay building in his gut due to the village's reaction, Sakumo couldn't give Kakashi a satisfactory answer.

Kamui

Summary: The first time Kakashi meets the masked man is when he was a child, before he'd even entered the Academy, and he's frozen as he watches the man tear into the ninja who'd been attacking him and his mother.

Misc.: Kamui is Space and Time, I thought we've seen Space now how about Time?

Snippet:

"Wait," Kakashi called when the man turned away, finally gathering his courage. The man halted but didn't turn. "Why-" he started, faltered, then changed to, "Who are you?"

This caused the man to look towards him, though it didn't help because the mask hid any expression the man made. "You...can call me 'Tobi'."

"Thank you," he said because he didn't doubt that they- that his mother at least, without the man's healing- would have died had Tobi not shown up.

Tobi froze, entire body tensing for some unknown reason and, between one second and the next, was gone.

Dear Kakashi

Summary: Toshiro, despite being Sakumo's best fighter, was always the ninken whom carried letters between them back when the man was alive, Kakashi knew the ninken in a way he didn't know the rest of Sakumo's pack and he mourned when the old dog's death. Kakashi didn't expect the ninken to return a month after it's death carrying a letter from Sakumo.

Misc.: Like A Tree mentioned them using ninken to write to each other, inugami are dog spirits, how could I resist?

Snippet:

Kakashi wound up on Sensei's doorstep, clutching the thing, and the first thing out of his mouth when Sensei opened the door was a half-hysterical, "He wrote me a letter."

He didn't know what to feel, he wanted to be angry- to be furious- but the sheer impossibility of it all, of having a literal dead man write him a letter kept the feeling at bay.

Of Ramen and Scarecrows

Summary: There are so many different first meetings, from a wailing newborn with it's parent's blood tainting it to a toddler who got lost in the park, and the path that follows them is a long one. - Brotherly Naruto-Kakashi across the multiverse.

Misc.: I wanted a BigBrother!ANBU!Kakashi and Kid!Naruto, which was fine until I wanted things like Kakashi accidentally losing Naruto in a store and freaking out and how am I going to tell Sensei I lost his son-!

Snippet:

"I got the-" Kakashi glanced up from his food-laden arms and looked unimpressed at distracted 'adults', it was odd though since Naruto thought flirting was disgusting and usually put a stop to it- "Where's Naruto?"

"Mmm?" Obito hummed absently.

Kakashi dropped the food on the table with a bang, startling both, "Where's Naruto!? You were supposed to be watching him!"

"He's right-" Rin started, turning to the far side of the table that had a kids picture book-thing and crayons, clearly abandoned. To be fair, the orange crayon was missing- that there was an orange crayon was made very clear from the orange grass, sky and trees- so clearly Naruto had been there, he just wasn't now.

"I expected this from Obito but not you, Rin." Kakashi groaned, unceremoniously climbing on the table to see if the vantage point would help him spot the little blond- it hadn't taken him that long to get food and the amount of coloring done meant Naruto shouldn't have more then a five-minute head start.

Kakashi could do this, Sensei would never have to know they lost Naruto.

"Mikoto emailed Kushina a link today," Sensei told them pleasantly, "Care to explain why there are videos of Kakashi and Naruto in the Wolf Enclosure at the zoo?"
