Ok... *gets on soapbox* Walmart sucks. Seriously. If you value your sanity, work ethic, etc, don't apply there. The company really needs to be dismantled and started over from scratch. By someone who will put their money where their mouth is. Everyone should be able to do their work to the best of their capability without having to deal with management who can't be bothered to make sure that their decisions aren't hampering the ability of their employees to fulfill their responsibilities. And no one should have to work for a manager who randomly makes up or changes rules to suit whatever happens to be easiest for him. Walmart really doesn't care about any of that as long as they make money. *gets off soapbox*
I've decided to issue challenges on my profile, since I can't think of anything else I'm actually interested in saying here. I haven't decided how often I'll post a new one yet. Probably every month or two. If anyone takes me up on one, please let me know where to find the fic.
And yes, I know, I should be working on The new Pride instead. Don't worry, I haven't abandoned it. I got hit with writer's block and procrastination.
May Challenge: We've seen Harry Potter, Harry Snape... I've even seen Harry Black. But what if Harry's father is someone else... A real Death Eater? What if Harry has a half-brother -- his school rival? Since no one that I've seen has done it yet, I am suggesting Lucius Malfoy as Harry Potter's father. Yeah, I know. It'd be a mess. No slash, please.
June Challenge: Harry is Severus' biological father. Severus' mother is unspecified. She could be Eileen. She could be Ginny. She could be anyone. The story of how Harry Potter's son became Severus Snape and what happened when father and son find out.
July Challenge: What happened to Angel between BtVS seasons two and three? What led to him going feral? Was it necessarily the obviously dark horrors? Or perhaps something more subtle? And why can't I seem to find any fics about this?!
August Challenge: What if Angel had been able to follow Connor and Holtz to Qortoth?
September Challenge: Crossover fic. Connor and Spike team up. Post-NFA. No slash. Angel should be in the story at least once.
January Challenge: Another crossover fic. Criminal Minds and Angel. Connor is Reid's younger brother.
I am the girl that doesn't go to school dances, or games, and when I do go, I sit in a corner and read a book. I am the girl that people look through when I say something. I am the girl that spends most of her free time reading, writing, or doing other activities that most teenagers wouldn't call normal. I am the girl that people call weird and a freak either behind my back or to my face. I am the girl that doesn't spend all her time on MySpace, or talking to a girlfriend on a cell phone or regular phone. I am the girl that hasn't been asked out in a year. I am the girl that has stopped to smell the flowers and jump and splash in the rain. BUT I am also the girl who knows and is proud to be who she is, doesn’t care if people call her weird (it's a compliment), who loves reading and writing and doing the things that no one seems to have the time to do any more, who loves and is obsessed with Twilight or Narnia, who can express herself better with words than actions, who doesn't need a guy to complete her, and knows the importance of the little things. Copy and paste this onto your account, and add your name to the list, if you are anything like me, so the girls who are different and unique can know in their weakest time that they are unique but not alone: Iheartjake, TeamJacob101, Boysareadrag, The Dawn Is Breaking, secilmis yazar, All The Pretty Horses, ElvesWizardsCentaursohmy, Fierce Queen, Jada Ryl
I understand that Scissors can beat Paper, and I get how Rock can beat Scissors, but there's no way Paper can beat Rock. Is Paper supposed to magically wrap around Rock leaving it immobile? If so, why can't paper do this to scissors? Screw scissors, why can't paper do this to people? Why aren't sheets of college ruled notebook paper constantly suffocating students as they attempt to take notes in class? I'll tell you why, because paper can't beat anybody, a rock would tear that crap up in two seconds. When I play rock/ paper/ scissors, I always choose rock. Then when somebody claims to have beaten me with their paper I can punch them in the face with my ready made fist and say, oh, I'm sorry, I thought paper would protect you.
OBITUARY FOR THE LATE MR. COMMON SENSE
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.
He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as: Knowing when to come in out of the rain; why the early bird gets the worm; Life isn't always fair; and Maybe it was my fault.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge). His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6 year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.
Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get Parental consent to administer Calpol, sun lotion or a band-aid to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.
Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband; churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.
Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.
Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.
Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason.
He is survived by his 3 stepbrothers; I Know My Rights, Someone Else Is To Blame, and I'm A Victim. Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing.
