My Top Ten lists!
Down below are several top ten lists on certain things that I find interesting. Please enjoy and PM me if you have any questions.
(Warning: the following list was built according to what I think of these characters. Please respect my opinions and I will respect yours. You have been warned.)
Top 32 Dissidia Final Fantasy characters!
Reasons why: The absolute most impossible character to play as in the game! Almost all of his moves are defense based. His movement speed was so slow! And his personality in game was... decent. I liked him in an overall sense. But he just couldn't stop saying the word 'void'! *Insert clips of Exdeath saying void here* Yeah, it gets annoying after a while. But he has a pretty good voice though. It makes him sound menacing and his design is... alright I guess and his Ex-Burst was pretty good too considering that he crushes you to death with gravity.
Reasons why: A little better to play as than Exdeath but her move set is not very impressive. As a mage you'd expect that she would have plenty of ranged attacks to punish the opponent from a distance, right? Well that wasn't really the case. Most of her ranged attacks aren't very powerful and you have to constantly use HP attacks if you want to lay any real damage and her Ex-Burst is impossible to get a PERFECT on. She's also a small target, which means that she's harder to hit. And her personality! She's bossy, arrogant, manipulative, most likely very spiteful, her speech pattern is downright annoying, she contributes absolutely nothing to the plot! And that laugh! *Que clip of Shantotto laughing.* (Eye twitches) And even more maddening. Her popularity is completely undeserved! In XI if she gives you a quest, she won't take no for an answer. If you do say no then she kills you! (Sigh) Her design is decent enough. She's cute, in a munchkin of Oz sort of way. Now if you excuse me... (Get's up, grabs a sword and leaves)
One midget pwning later
Okay I'm back. Now let's get on to the next headache.
30. The Cloud of Darkness
Reasons why: Okay the C of D isn't the worst really. I play with her more often than I do with Exdeath. Only she's a ranged fighter. So close range is not her bread and butter. Her move set is fairly complicated where simplicity is needed to fight effectively. And fighting her as a CPU is annoying since she spams the same moves over and over again. Her personality is more tolerable than Exdeath's since she doesn't say the word void nearly as much as that walking evil tree. (She still says it though) Her finisher is pretty good though getting the timing right takes practice. And her design... *Looks at a picture of the Cloud of Darkness and eyes widen* Must... not... fap...!
29. Emperor Mateus of Palamecia
Reasons why: The Emperor is a fairly good character. But he's classified as a trap master. That means he has to trap his opponents in order to deal any effective damage. And since his traps are pretty easy to dodge and avoid he's pretty easy to beat and a little time consuming if you're playing as him. His only good attacks are Flare and Starfall. But the former is either stationary or chases the opponent too slowly to be effective without trapping them and the latter takes too long to charge up, which leave him open to attacks. He is vain, greedy, underhanded, manipulative, arrogant, and self centered, which fits him perfectly. His design is awesome and his voice is downright awesome! And his Ex-burst is alright too. The only reason he isn't higher on this list is because of how he plays.
Reasons why: Tidus isn't that bad, but he's hard to get the hang of. His attacks have a large miss ratio campared to the hits they land and almost all of them involves dodging the opponent's attack in order to land a hit. Also the amount of damage isn't very high for most attacks. You need really good timing skills in order to effectively use him in battle. His design is definitely cooler than how he looked in X and his personality got a bit of an upgrade though he does have his emo moments. He has the same voice actor that he had in X so nothing wrong with that. His Ex-Burt though was disappointing. He hits you with a blitzball, a freaking blitzball! And it barely does any real damage when he's not at full health (only at 100% HP would it be considered one of the most damaging moves under Gilgamesh's and Tifa's finishers. Though it has the same algorithm as Cloud's finisher. More on that later.) He's only redeemable in the story mode where he actually does something smart.
Ugh, I need a drink.
One cup of coffee later.
Okay I'm back. Next!
27.The Onion Knight
Reasons why: Okay, Onion is also a decent character to play as. He's one of the fastest characters in the game and that works to his advantage in battle. But that's also one of his biggest disadvantages as well. His attacks have a pretty high miss ratio and this leaves him open when they miss or when someone like Exdeath dodges them continuously. His attacks don't do that much damage due to his high speed which is why he uses multiple strikes. But his branching attacks make up for that. His Ex-Burst isn't that impressive either. It's time consuming too since you have so much cluttering up the screen. But the Sage finisher is better than the Ninja finisher. Now his personality... Oh, God. At the beginning he's cocky, arrogant, and thinks he could beat absolutely anyone thanks to his high intellect. After getting his crystal, he humbled up but becomes a little obsessed with protecting Terra even though she's fully capable of defending herself. Dude you're fourteen, she's eighteen! It'll never work! (sigh) But his design's alright though.
26. Feral Chaos
Reasons why: Man this guy's tough! His attacks are devastatingly powerful, his design looks freaking awesome his Ex-burst is epic, and his boss theme is so cool that I have it on my Itunes, and he continues to murder me whenever I fight him! He's totally awesome... while he's a boss. When you first get to play as him you're so excited that you get to pwn so much ass with him... But then you look at his stats and abilities... He's given all of these unfair handicaps during a fight that prevents you from using him effectively in battle. And it costs so much AP to remove these handicaps that it's almost pointless to even have the abilities (Plus they take too long to master). And because of these handicaps his attacks had been drastically weakened. It's so frustrating having the most powerful character in the game be so weak.
25. Bartz Klauser
Reasons why: Okay how do I say this? There is nothing original about him! His design is alright, and he has a good voice and a decent personality, if not a little too cheerful. But it's his game play that irks me. All the moves he has are taken from the other heroes and the only original move he has can only be used in Ex-Mode! And not even his Ex-Burst is original! The only reason he's not lower on this list is because I find him fun to play as.
24. Laguna Loire
Reasons why: Okay, I have nothing against Laguna personally. In fact, I enjoy his personality. Cheery and optimistic (Though nowhere near Sora's level.) he's able to cheer up any of his allies with the right words. He's a bit of a comedic relief character (But nowhere near the level of Gilgamesh) and so his contribution to the plot is quite small. His play style is a little tricky to work with since he's a weapons master. He uses a large array of firearms in battle and they're always effective while your on the ground (Airborne is a little harder to work with). He's a mid-ranged fighter so his attacks are to keep the opponent at a distance while he lays damage. But most of his other attacks are easy to dodge since not all of them can fire multiple shots per second like his machine gun, which makes that move the only really effective move since you can move while firing. His Ex-burst is a little difficult to accomplish if you've never played a first person shooter before. But once the gauge is filled the attack is awesome. I always say 'I'M A FIRIN' MY LAZOR!!' whenever I use it (not really, but you get the point). His design reminds me of a jet fighter pilot and that's pretty cool.
Reasons why: Okay, Vaan is fun to play as. A lot of people bash him because he's a weapons master like Laguna and a Firion rip off and he sucked in twelve (Which I like!). But that doesn't mean he's a bad character. His damage ratio is fairly decent with his ax having the highest critical hit ratio. He has a good design and his personality is alright though he's a little naïve and disinterested in the conflict. His greatest contribution was helping bring Terra to the side of Cosmos. His Ex-burst is pretty cool too though it is highly outclassed by Gabranth's.
Reasons why: Kuja's a good character to play as. He has a high skill cap and is probably one of the best middle tier characters in the game. Since he constantly moves even while attacking he's pretty hard to hit, and I also find it tricky to hit the opponent while playing as him so it takes practice to master him. His best moves are Ultima and Force Symphony. His personality is a nice touch to the roster. Despite his petty, narcissistic, arrogant nature he has an artistic flare rivaled only by Genisis Rapsodos. In the game it is revealed that he has a major inferiority complex and constantly seeks to prove himself. But most of all is that he is perhaps the most redeemable character in the game besides Kain, Ject, and maybe Gabranthe. His voice brings out his personality well and his design... *que picture of Kuja* no comment.
Reasons why: Yuna is a very good mid-tier character to play as. Her summoning skills are how summons can be used effectively in a fast paced fighting game. Though the summons are only static figures during said attacks. Her HP attacks are pretty good with her most powerful being Mega Flare. Her design makes her look as beautiful and as graceful as she did in X. Her Ex-Burst is a timed button press so getting the timing right takes practice and patience. Also I like her personality.
20. Kefka Palazzo
Reasons why: Okay, where do I start? Kefka is a good ranged fighter. His use of magic is exactly how Shanttoto should have used hers. Many of his attacks have the chase and wall rush effects which can come in handy. But his movement speed isn't very fast since his running is more of an exaggerated skip. His three best attacks are Trine, Forsaken Null, and Hyperdrive all of which deal considerable amounts of damage. His Ex-burst is a little complicated since you have to remember which buttons were displayed but overall it's a devastating move. Kefka's design makes it looks like a rainbow threw up on him. His personality on the other hand was quite enjoyable. He could go from serious to hilarious before you can even blink. And his laugh is iconic. People say he's a Joker ripoff, and they might be right... or they might be total morons. But whether he's a ripoff or not, he's definitely one of the best damn omnicidal evil clowns out there.
Reasons why: Ultimecia is a fairly good character to use. She has incredible range and is effective as a mid-range to long-range fighter. Her bravery attacks have two versions to them. A button mash setting and a press and hold setting. Most of her HP attacks are effective and lay quite the bit of damage. But they're pretty easy to dodge and take time to charge. Her Ex-burst is really good as well. But your timing has to be perfect in order to hit the trigger every time. Her personality has that regal and elegant feel while also holding a certain arrogance to it. Her design is... *Looks at a picture of Ultimecia* hubba, hubba... *Shakes head* The only reason she's so high on this list is because of the move she could use in Ex-mode that literally freezes the opponent in time, giving you the opportunity to make a move.
Reasons why: Like Laguna and Vaan he's a weapons master. His use of multiple swords in battle is very interesting since it's completely randomized. So you can never tell which weapon is going to be used next. His attacks are mostly close ranged with the only ranged attack being his Rocket Punch (I kid you not). His design can be either goofy when he's in his normal form, or badass in his Ex-Mode. Speaking of which, his Ex-Burst is a hit or miss attack. If you successfully grab the Excalibur then max damage is dealt in a pretty epic way. If Excalipur is selected then minimal damage is dealt in a hilarious manner until he throws the sword into the air. While he doesn't contribute much to the plot he's a fierce mid-tier fighter and he can be downright hilarious.
Up next we have... oh... *grins*
Reasons why: You can't have a fighting game without a fist fighter and Prishe is one of them. Her move set is ridiculously awesome, pummeling her opponent into submission by unleashing combos left and right. Her HP attacks aren't as impressive but they're effective when used right. Her Ex-burst is pretty cool though you have to hit the right buttons for it. She's an awesome fighter and is only surpassed by one other in the game. Now to why I really like her. I love her personality. Despite being brash, foulmouthed, and a little over energetic she's a great character. She loves to explore and almost nothing phases her. She does have moments where she's not happy and chipper. Such as when she died and asked the Warrior of Light not to forget about her even though he did. (It's almost as tragic as Xion's death!) Her designs makes her look cute and her voice fits her perfectly. All-in-all Prishe is a good mid-tier character and I enjoy playing as her.
16. Squall Leonhart
Reasons why: Squall is awesome! His attacks are well balanced and almost all of them lead into killer combos. All of his HP attacks do a good amount of damage though a couple can either be hit or miss. And his Ex-Burst is awesome! He's the strong silent type and always keeps his mind on the prize. Though he starts out as a bit of an ass, his personality improves and he learns how to fight with others even when by himself. And his design still makes him look badass even after all these years.
15. Zidane Tribal
Reasons Why: Zidane is fast. Nothing else can describe his play style. All of his attacks do great amounts of damage in quick succession. Even his Ex-Burst relies on that speed! His personality is alright, pretty close to the original. And his design is pretty good though he's one of the shortest characters in the game (Being the same size as the Onion Knight). And his Ex-Mode makes him look like a pink furry monkey. He's an overall enjoyable character.
Reasons Why: Golbez is like Darth Vader out on the battle field, literally! He's primarily a mid-range fighter, but that doesn't mean that he can't get up close and personal. If he's close enough he can force push you back and deliver tons of hurt. Even his branch attacks use force lightning (I kid you not)! And his Ex-Burst is downright epic! *Plays clip of Golbez's Ex-Burst* It just speaks for itself. His design makes him look tall, dark, and mysterious. And his personality is probably the best thing about him. Despite being a Warrior of Discord the man goes out of his way to help the heroes obtain their crystals, often showing just how much wisdom this guy has. He also has moments when he's kind such as with his brother Cecil. He is hands down one of the best!
Reasons why: Despite being a weapons master Firion is clearly the best in the game. He probably has the most variety out of any character in the game. While his HP attacks aren't the most impressive, his branching HP attacks make up for it. And his Ex-Burst shows off his expert archery skills to its fullest effect. *Plays clip Of Firion's Ex-Burst* Eat your heart out Katniss Everdeen! His personality is very good being a man most can relate too. And his dream may sound girly at first, but if you think about it his dream is probably the biggest out of the whole cast. He wants a world were flowers can grow undisturbed, meaning he wants a world of peace. That's a dream we all wished for at one point in our lives. This fact alone makes him one of the most relatable characters in the game. While his design is decent, Firion is a character worth playing.
12. Chuck Nor- I mean Ject
Reasons why: Okay, do I even need to say anything? Ject is freaking awesome! all his moves are powerful making him one of the best high-tier characters in the game. Even though he has that huge ass sword he'd rather use his fists! His HP attacks are cool with his best being his Ultimate Ject Shot, where he throws a giant flaming rock at you! And his Ex-Burst is even more epic! I don't even have to say anything for you guys to know what I mean! *Plays clip of Ject's Ex-Burst* He throws a freaking meteor at you! If that's not awesome then I don't know what is. His personality is really cool! He has a tough demeanor but shows that he genuinely cares for his son! What a great guy! His design makes him look tough and his Ex-Mode makes him look killer. This guy has earned the Chuck Norris stamp of approval!
11. Aeris Gainsborough
Reasons why: Aerith is an amazing character! Why? Well, even though she isn't a playable character she's definitely useful as an assist because of the moves she can use. Cure restores bravery, seal evil freezes your opponent in place, Planet Protector grants the player invinci-f-ing-bility! and her most powerful move, Holy. Once fully charged, it will all but obliterate the opponent! Its so powerful that it should be considered her finishing move! Her design is from the original game and her first alternate outfit is from Crisis Core while her second alternate was from her concept art for VII. She's sweet, kind, patient, the kind of girl you'd want to bring home to your parents. The only reason she's not higher on the list is because she's an assist-only character.
Alright, top ten! This party's getting crazy! Let's rock!!
Presses button on Jukebox*
Reasons why: What better way to kick off the top ten than with the guy that started it all? Garland is one of the best characters in the game. Easily reaching the higher tiers. His design is cool, his voice is so imposing! And his personality is BAD! ASS! The only downside is that he contributes very little to the plot other than being the Warrior of Light's rival. But it's his play style that makes up for it in spades. His moves are very punishing. Designed to literally crush the opponent into the ground. All of his HP attacks deal monster damage, especially his best moves Tsunami and Flare. But they're all topped by his Ex-Burst which basically has him use every move he has to completely annihilate his opponent! *Plays Clip of Garlands Ex-Burst.* In the end if you want a character that can deal out brutal punishment and keep dealing it, then Garland's your man. In fact... Put Garland in a Kingdom Hearts game! I want to see how Sora deals with this monster! Do it Nomura, DO IT!!!
9. Cecil Harvey
Reasons why: Cecil's awesome no doubt about that. He's literally two characters in one! His Dark Knight form is designed to bring the opponent in and send them flying with powerful attacks while his Paladin form sends opponents crashing into the ground with swift movements and quick combos. His HP attacks are built the same way. His best moves are easily Dark Flame and Paladin Force. Cecil's dual designs are awesome... His Dark Knight form is dark and powerful while his paladin form makes him look noble, valiant, and just (all of which he is). His personality... My god is this guy manly! He is easily THE manliest character in the entire franchise! He is a true knight who puts the safety of his comrades over his own. And he constantly tries to get his brother Golbez to join the side of light and help in the fight. Man is that loyalty! Cecil Harvey, you are my hero!
8. Kain Highwind
Reasons why: Kain Highwind is the most badass anti-hero in Final Fantasy EVER! Enough said. His fighting style is exactly how a Dragoon should fight in any game. His swift movements and powerful moves send his opponents flying through the air before he impales them with his lance (mind out the gutter.) Even his trademarked jump attack doubles as his Ex-Burst! *Plays Clip of Kain's Ex-Burst* The man's design is awesome! And his voice...! I still have a neardgasm every time I hear it outside of IV! (Examples: War- Darksiders and Caius Ballad- Final Fantasy XIII-2. Their voiced by Kain F*ing Highwind!) And his personality goes hand in hand with his voice. It's makes him even cooler than Batman! (I think I just pissed off some Batman fans out there...)
Okay, enough fangirling, moving on...
7. Tifa Lockhart
Reasons why: Tifa is the best martial artist in the game. Even though I like Prishe better, this isn't a popularity contest. Tifa is one of the best high-tier characters in game, surpassing even Ject! (Now I feel as though I have upset a lot of Ject fans) Her move set relies on quick, but powerful combos and punishing HP attacks with a couple of branching moves to add a little flare. Her personality is very nice to see, You can feel the kindness this woman has when she talks to the other warriors and her strength whenever she's in battle. Her voice is just absolutely heavenly to hear. And her design makes her look beautiful! Especially her... eyes. God I love looking into those lovely red orbs of hers. What? Did you think that I was going to say her breasts?! I am above that!
Okay, Flame Shields Up!
Reasons why: Now before you flame me for liking Lightning, hear me out! Lightning is a great character to play as. She has an easy pick-up-and-play move set that lets you use all of her moves effectively for maximum damage. And since I started playing 012 as her, I found her very enjoyable. Her HP attacks are very powerful and deal out a lot of punishment. I find her best moves to be Thunderfall and Flourish of Steel. Her Ex-Burst is based off her Gestalt Drive and the Zantetsuken (Did I spell that right?) looks pretty cool. Now Lightning has a good design with a personality to match. She looks like a strong and driven soldier. She fights for what she believes in and doesn't let anyone stop her from fulfilling her goals. And I love her voice! It sounds strong with a hint of kindness hidden just under the surface. It reflects the whole tough on the outside, soft on the inside archetype that Lightning has. A strong willed woman with a kind heart. No wonder Japan loves her. And I just so happen to love XIII, XIII-2, and Lightning Returns! And FYI, XIII is the fourth highest selling Final Fantasy in the series so far.
Reasons why: Do I even need to say anything? This guy speaks for himself. Next! ...Wait... You want me to tell you anyway? Alright... If I could use one word to sum up Gabranthe it would be... EPIC! His design, his voice, his personality are all awesome! Though his move list has a lot to be desired since he can only use a few bravery attacks during a battle... at least... until he enters Ex-Mode! When he does, he opens a can of kick-ass so big that you can't help but feel proud of yourself after you beat your opponent with him. His HP attacks are devastating and his bravery attacks turn into killer combo moves! But all of that pales in comparison to his Ex-Burst! *Plays clip of Gabranthe's Ex-Burst* Okay, lets break it down. First he Falcon Punches the opponent without even touching them! Then he fires a Hadouken made of black fire at them! Then he stabs them with multiple ethereal energy swords before sending them into a freaking black hole! If that's not awesome I don't know what is!
4. Terra Branford
Reasons why: Terra is an amazing character. When she first starts out her moves are pretty basic and balanced. But as you unlock more moves she becomes a lot stronger and you have more room to dish out punishment. She's a mid-range fighter so her attacks work better from a certain distance. She only has a couple of branching attacks but they're very powerful. Her HP attacks deal a fair amount of damage to her opponents. I find her best to be Holy-Flare-Ultima combo and Meltdown. Her Ex-mode grants Terra the ability doublecast which allows her to use her bravery attacks twice in a row as well as certain HP attacks. Her Ex-Burst, Riot Blades is THE most damaging finishing move in the entire game surpassing any other character. Terra's design is adorable and it makes her and her Esper form look beautiful (though I prefer her with green hair)! And her voice is so cute! I only wish they didn't make Terra so hesitant in Dissidia. I doubt she was like that in VI (turns out she pretty much was until like the final act of the game). But if she was a lot more sure of herself and her abilities in Dissidia then she would easily have made number one.
3. Cloud Strife
Reasons why: Now before you all go and say that I'm some Cloud fanboy, listen first... Cloud is an epic character to play as. His moves are quick and powerful, giving you a lot of ways to deal out punishment to your opponent. He has the highest critical-hit ratio of the roster and his HP and branching attacks are absolutely devastating. His Ex-Mode can cause THE highest amount of damage in the game as long as his health is at 100% (Like Tidus) and even if Cloud's health isn't full, it can still cause some heavy damage. Cloud's design is mostly the same as his seven appearance though he looks much more mature. And I like his voice too. While his personality is his AC version it's still good, I would prefer if he was just a little more lively. All in all, Cloud's a good character.
Reasons why: Cold, cruel, efficient, merciless, brutal... These are just a few of the words that describe the once great SOLDIER 1st-class Sephiroth. Seph's play style is very much like his personality. It's cold, quick, and devastatingly powerful. His moves are designed to cut away the opponents strength with quick, lightning fast attacks that deal a lot of damage. His single greatest attack, Black Materia, can deal the most damage out of all his HP attacks if fully charged. And his Ex-Burst is pure overkill. His personality is pretty much the same as it was in VII and in AC, cruel, and calculating. His design is very impressive and his Masamune looks very intimidating (especially when it can't fit in the screen) all in all Sephiroth is a powerful player and one you don't want to mess with in the hands of a master.
And now we reach our last entry. If Sephy was number two, then who is number one you might ask? I think that's sort of obvious now.
1. The Warrior of Light
Reasons why: The Warrior of Light is THE best character in the game! He has the best moves, all of which are quick and powerful. He's very well balanced. All of his moves are powerful combos and he has the most branching attacks out of any character in the game! His HP attacks aren't the most powerful in the game but they can cause serious damage when used effectively. I find his most powerful to be his Bitter End attack, which looks awesome! And his Ex-Burst is both powerful and awesome! His design is so cool and his personality is simply amazing since he was the only character who really had any true development throughout the whole story! and his voice is pretty good too. So in summation... The Warrior of Light is the best character in Dissidia bar none! Go and play a few fights as him. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
That's my list. What did you think? If there are any flaws with my information then please let me know so I can correct them.
Here is a list of character parings from the various media that I support. Now I mainly support cannon pairings mostly because I can see how those two characters could mesh together. But there are also pairings that I like that haven't been shown in cannon but I feel would work nonetheless.
And a reminder... These are mostly my opinions so if you don't like my pairings then please leave it alone and stick with your own. Thank you.
Sora/Kairi (Duh!): Now this pairing has been pretty much confirmed as cannon despite there being a distinct lack of romance in the franchise. The chemistry between these two could be seen the most in the first and second games as you can see how far they were willing to go for each other. Please Square, make them hook up already!
Roxas/Xion: Now, I usually base my pairings off of two things. 1: How well two characters interact with each other, and 2: How long said characters have know each other. Going off of this Roxas has a stronger potential for a possible romantic relationship with Xion than he does with Naminé. I mean Roxas and Xion have known each other for nearly a full year while Roxas and Naminé have only known each other for roughly three or four days! The latter is NOWHERE near enough time to build a meaningful relationship. And I don't want to hear the whole "Roxas and Xion can't be together because they're the same person and that Roxas and Naminé should be together be cause they're Sora and Kairi's Nobodies and they're together" because that's total BS! Roxas is what remained of Sora's body and soul after the former became a Heartless and Xion was created from the fragments of Sora's memories that were stolen from him by Xemnas when the two fought in KHFM (Most of which were memories of Kairi). But memories alone cannot create an actual physical body. What I believe is that the memories were used to create Xion's soul and said soul was implanted into a faceless artificial body which soon took on the form that we are all familiar with. So by that logic the only things that Roxas and Xion actually share is the ability to wield the Keyblade and the same soul. So, and I know this sounds a little cliché, that basically makes them soul mates. (audience starts booing). Yes, I know! My bad. Now I'm not bashing the Roku/Nami pairing. I actually think they look cute together. But that's the thing... They LOOK cute together. When I first saw them together at the end of KHII, I thought 'they look cute together'. But Roxas and Xion ARE cute together! If you actually pay attention to their relationship in Days then you would see just how far the two would go for each other as well as a good number of relationship building moments between them. By the time the game ended I felt the two were nearly perfect for each other! And even though it hasn't been a confirmed pairing, it's nice to dream. And sorry for the rant. (You know, looking back at this it’s kind of scary how KHIII confirmed my replica head-cannon.)
Terra/Aqua: Now this pairing is fairly easy to explain because it had been implied that these two had feelings that delved deeper than friendship and was in no way a sibling relationship. It is also known that they had known each other for a very long time. Much longer than they knew Ven, to which I must say that they both view as a little brother! Nothing more! I'm looking at you Ven/Aqua shippers!
Naminé/Riku: Now this is a tougher pairing for me to justify really. While it is unlikely that they could end up together, they most likely have a good relationship with each other since they had spent nearly everyday together for almost a whole year which would mean that they would have grown to care about each other (as evidenced when Riku defied DiZ's order to kill Naminé and allowed her to escape with Axel in KHIIFM). But despite how likely a romantic relationship could form, it isn't all that likely because Riku is a fairly complex character. He was very driven to complete his goal of reawakening Sora, as such he wouldn't want to form a relationship with Naminé. But in a non-cannon setting, a relationship is likely since the two do have quite a bit in common. Now as for the Riku/Xion pairing on the other hand... it makes no conceivable sense to me! In the game Riku was determined to awaken Sora no matter the cost. As such, it was plainly obvious to me that he was manipulating Xion every time he encountered her. He didn't even seem all that sad after she died and he began to forget her. God, what an a*! But in a non-cannon setting then I would leave it alone since it doesn't follow cannon. Edit: In truth he did feel some regret for his hand in Xion's death, though not that much. (You know, considering the ending in KHIII, this relationship seems a little more feasible. But it’s still unlikely.
Hayner/Olette: Now in the game there wasn't much to imply that they had a relationship or had any romantic feelings for each other at all. But they honestly looked like they would be a good match for each other. While it isn't my strongest pairing I do like it all the same.
Cloud/Tifa: I really like this pairing. Now I'm sure everybody knows this, but Cloud and Tifa were clearly made for each other! In the game it is stated that the two of them had known each other since childhood and as such clearly have a strong bond. Now I'm not bashing any Cloud/Aerith shippers out there but I feel that this pairing is the strongest out of all others. And it's been pretty much confirmed cannon anyways.
Zack/Aerith: Another fairly obvious pairing. As proven in Crisis Core, Zack and Aerith had a clear connection with each other. And later on in Final Fantasy VII, it's apparent that she never fully got over his death as seen when they visited his hometown and she ran out of his parents house after he was mentioned. She had also mentioned him several times throughout the game.
Cecil/Rosa: These two have had a strong relationship ever since they first met. And throughout the game we see how far they are willing to go for each other. Rosa nearly died from exhaustion and Desert Madness when she went to search for Cecil and Kain after they disappeared, and Cecil risked his life to save her. The love they have for each other could be seen in every interaction they have with each other. Only someone who is blind to love can miss something like this.
Locke/Celes: This is probably one of the best examples of a gradually forming romance I had ever seen. In the beginning Locke and Celes were simply allies with a common goal, but as the game progresses and they go through several trials you can see their relationship evolve until they have genuine feelings for each other. Even though I have yet to play VI I can see that this is one of the strongest romances in the entire franchise. And when I get the game I'll be able to see their love bloom before my very eyes.
Squall/Rinoa: Another good example of a gradual relationship. Squall and Rinoa have a very interesting dynamic with each other. In the beginning of the game they first met at a ball and had a cute dance scene together. But their relationship had it's very beginnings when Squall was sent on a mission to aid a rebel group and they met again on the train. At fist he didn't care for her and focused on the mission. But after the mission you see their relationship begin to grow and change as the story progresses. He soon begins to truly care for Rinoa, worrying for her when she falls into a catatonic state, confiding in her all of his worries and doubts, and expressing relief when she awakens. By the end of the game he smiles for the first time only for her. The growth of their relationship through the game was a great thing to watch even if the plot of the story was a little hard to follow sometimes.
Explanations for the rest will come in due time.
Tidus/Yuna: What can I say about these two that hasn't already been said or seen by others? Both Yuna and Tidus have had remarkably positive effects on each other, at the beginning of the game Tidus was quite selfish and a bit of a playboy, and Yuna was completely committed to her mission to defeat Sin and didn't allow herself to relax during her pilgrimage. As we go through the game we see their relationship grow and grow until they showed a great amount of devotion to each other, such as Tidus's drive to save Yuna from her fate as a summoner, or Yuna going on her own journey to bring him back in the sequel. It's because of this that they are one of Final Fantasy's most well known couples.
Vaan/Panelo: You can argue that Vaan and Panelo could possibly be the most pointless characters to the plot of Final Fantasy XII (Okay, well that mostly applies to Vaan, but you get the point!), but to me they added a certain lighthearted charm to an otherwise serious cast of characters. Although it was only implied at first, the connection between the two was obvious. Having both grown up together in the same conditions, they have a sort of kinship and bond with one another that no one else in the entire game has. They both know each other on a personal level and constantly worry about the other's wellbeing whenever they're apart. This was made even more apparent in the game's sequel, Revenant Wings, where it is stated that they had both become more than friends in the time between the last game and this one. Both Vaan and Panelo have a strong sense of loyalty and care towards each other and are both willing to go to great lengths to ensure the other's safety when it really counts. Love 'em or hate 'em, you can't deny the bond they share.
Bartz/Lenna: What can I say other than they look like a cute couple? While I don't have as much basis for this relationship unlike the others, especially since I never played V, I think that they have a good enough basis for a relationship, especially since the ending of the game implied that the two of them had taken to meeting up with one another regularly.
Ragna/Noel: This is a pretty interesting ship for me since these two do have more or less positive outlooks on each other, especially after Continuum Shift. Ragna feels a certain amount of protectiveness over Noel due to how much she reminded him of his sister Saya, both physically and personality wise. Because of this he's willing to go to extremes to ensure her safety. And despite how rough he is to her and how often he insults her, he's still marginally nicer to her than he is to most of the other cast members. And it's likely that Noel feels a certain amount of respect for Ragna and might even be somewhat infatuated with him since she had been put under the effects of the Spectacles of Eros twice so far (And while the gag reels might not be considered cannon to the main story line, it was stated that the spectacles amplify the feelings of whoever is put under it's effects. Be it a mild attraction, a small crush, or outright hatred. It would all be turned into a very strong love. Only those who are likely very strong of will, or are truly in love with the wearer are completely immune to the effects of the glasses). So it's safe to assume that she feels some sort of attraction towards Ragna, even if she doesn't know it herself.
Ragna/Nu-13: While it is implied that this could be the cannon ship, it's somewhat weaker than the above mentioned ship mostly because I cannot see Ragna being able to get into a healthy relationship with Nu due to how she usually acts around him. Either a homicidal machine, or a homicidal Yandere. Yeah not very appealing really. It's only when Nu isn't under the influence of one of these two personalities is when I think a relationship is possible. When not under the influence of Subject-13 and Yandere-13, she has shown to be quite the quirky individual with a rather dark sense of humor. Due to the memories she had inherited from her template Saya, she is completely devoted to Ragna to an obsessive level, craving the same love and attention from him that he gave his sister, despite the fact that kind and carefree Ragna is all but gone, and all that is left is a phantom from memories that aren't even hers. Despite this though, her love and devotion to Ragna is strong enough to drive her to sacrifice her very life if it meant saving his. And since synchronizing with Noel in Chrono Phantasma, she had likely gained some of Noel's personality traits and could possible become quite sweet, kind, and adorkably cute as Noel while still having the traits that still makes Nu-13 who she is. While Ragna does not seem to hold as much devotion towards Nu, he seems to have grown to care a great deal about her over the course of the games. He started out despising her and seeing her as just another monster to destroy, but after her sacrifice, he clearly began to think differently about her. And even though he was still quite hostile towards her, it didn't seem to be anywhere near the level it was at their first meeting. His concern for her wellbeing even led to him swearing to save Nu from both her fate and herself at the end of Chrono Phantasma, even going as far as to spare her life despite others telling him that it would be better to just kill her. So while this isn't my strongest BlazBlue ship, it certainly has the potential to be an interesting one.
Litchi/Bang: While this is likely going to stay a one-sided relationship, it's still a cute ship nonetheless. The whole reason this relationship is a thing is mostly for comedic effect, since Litchi is completely oblivious to Bangs strong and devote feeling towards her despite his countless attempts to impress her. Mostly due to the fact that Litchi is so wrapped up in her own personal drama, she doesn't notice what's right in front of her and keeps poor Bang in the friend zone. And every attempt Bang makes to impress Litchi usually fails due to Murphy's Law, or something along those lines. Other than that, this would make a very cute ship.
I'll get to the rest some other time.

My Favorite Final Boss Themes
Titano Man XIII: Final bosses. They are the last challenge standing between you and seeing the game's finale. There are many things that makes a final boss memorable. The build up, the overall design, the personality, motives, the overall difficulty, the symbolism, and a crap ton of other things that I could make an entire list out of. But for me, and several others, its the final boss theme. That, along with everything else, is what really makes these battles memorable. This is a list of themes used for the final bosses in video games. They are not ordered by how I like them. I'm just listing them by which game they appear in. This list will be updated for every final boss theme I hear that I like. If you have a suggestion then tell me the name of the theme, which game it's from, and if I like it then I'll add them to the list.
Underlined- Name of the Theme
Bold- Name of the Game
1. Final Boss- Final Fantasy I Twentieth Anniversary/Dawn of Souls Edition (A great song that starts of slow with a short organ piece before quickly picking up pace. It really gives a sense of determination, dread, and finality. The fate of the world is riding on this battle.)
2. Battle Scene 2- Final Fantasy II Twentieth Anniversary/Dawn of Souls Edition (The original boss theme for Final Fantasy II while it was played for every boss, it was most remembered for the final battle against Emperor Mateas of Palamecia. The theme was linked to him so much that it became his signature final boss theme. This fast paced track gives off a sense of just how powerful the king of hell really is and that you have to go all out in order to beat him. I should know since it took me over fifty tries to beat him in the PSP version.)
3. This is the Last Battle/The Final Battle- Final Fantasy III (The haunting intro gives a great sense of dread and builds up to the final confrontation with the Cloud of Darkness. When the intro's pace quickens it adds a sense of urgency that tells you just how powerful your last opponent will be and once the song finally starts your ready to give it your all while rocking out to this fast paced track. Clearly a song fitting for this game.)
4. The Final Battle/Zeromus- Final Fantasy IV (The beginning of this track give of the vibe of Zeromus's rising power and the great lengths you must go through to save the world. It's the feeling I always get when I hear those trumpets playing. Not to mention that the Black Mages version is just as epic.)
5. The Last Battle/Neo ExDeath- Final Fantasy V (Oh man the intro to this track gives me chills every time. The repeating tones that play as Neo ExDeath makes his appearance in the beginning gives off a sense of dread and the sheer power he possesses when the song picks up pace can be felt through this track. When I hear that trumpet blaring it reminds me that this is no easy battle.)
6. DANCING MAD- Final Fantasy VI (Where do I even begin to describe how epic this song is?! Let's start with the first tier. The first tier gives off a sense of sheer power and rage. You can feel just how much Kefka wishes to destroy everything and the choir, synthetic or otherwise, gives of a great sense of dread and foreboding. Tier two at first sounds cacophonous and seems like random notes but that there in lies its meaning as the representation of Kefka's insanity. The organ solos in this part weren't bad either. Tier three is an all organ piece giving this segment a gospel feeling, which represents Kefka's god complex. This segment has a very heavenly tone to it, which is fitting to where it's placed. Also note that this segment was ripped from another organ piece but that's neither here nor there. Now tier four... Oh my god, where do I begin?! First of all the gradually rising notes as Kefka makes his descent to confront the party one last time sends chills down the spine and when it crescendos, you know that the final battle has truly begun. It's a pity remakes of the song like from the Black Mages and Distant Worlds omit this part because its truly something you would never forget. Then the main song picks up and its a mad battle to the finish. Kefka's pulling out all of the stops to put an end to you even though he know's that he is fighting a losing battle. And once you reach the last part of the fourth tier, which some fans and myself like to call the Sadness of Nihilism, you get a true sense of the despair that Kefka feels at his inevitable defeat as he looks back on his life. A feeling nuked to epic proportions in the Black Mages version that still sends shivers down my spine. I mean if they played this segment during Kefka's death scene in Dissidia then you might actually get a feel for the despair that he feels at the moment of his death once he realizes just how pointless his life had been. This song matches Kefka's complex character to a tee. I dare any of you to say otherwise! Also I hope to one day hear the ultimate Dancing Mad remix that plays the insanity of the original, the epic rock of the Black Mages version, and the divine instrumentals and chorus of the Distant Worlds version. It would be the perfect, ultimate version that would put all other remixes to shame.
7. One Winged Angel- Final Fantasy VII (Another Iconic track that sends shivers down your spine. While nowhere near as long or as emotionally invested as Dancing Mad was it still holds a great sense of power to it. It's Latin chorus and many instruments give it a divine feel. And once Sephiroth rises into the air and uses Supernova at the best part of the song you feel like you're facing the full might of God's wrath.)
8. The Extreme- Final Fantasy VIII (This track starts off with an ominous choir saying Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec before starting with a beautiful acoustic guitar and gradually picking up from there with piano, choir, and other instruments. Then it kicks it into high gear and goes all out. The fast pace of the battle gives you the feeling of fighting against time itself. It doesn't hold back one bit as it goes fast and exciting one minute to slow and tension building the next before picking right back up again. This is a song you would listen to for hours.)
9. Final Battle/Grand Cross- Final Fantasy IX (This track starts of with a slow tension-building intro accompanied by the moans of hundreds of tortured souls. It does its job well as it scares the sh*t out of you as the god of death descends to fight you for your right to exist. The song then picks up and goes quite heavy on the synthetic instruments. It's fast paced track gets you pumped to prove your worth and save the world. And as the song starts to repeat the tortured moans of the damned are heard before it picks right back up again.)
10. Decisive Battle- Final Fantasy X (While most of you would think Other World would be here I have to remind you that it's NOT the final boss theme... This is. It's slower when compared to most final boss themes as it relies on instrumentals and piano to give a grandiose theme that instills hope and a sense of finality as you face what equates to the god of this game. Sadly the only way to hear this great piece is if you purposely drag out the symbolism heavy battle. But otherwise it's a great peace and I love hearing it.)
11. Awakening- Final Fantasy XI (The song starts of with ominous tribal chanting and the sound of drums which gives you the feeling of the awakening of true evil. As it picks up it gives you the feeling of being in a great battle against the ultimate evil. As it grows more dramatic it suddenly slows down to a small choir and the melodic sound of a harp. As it slows it gives you the sense of growing strength and determination, hoping against hope that you would come out victorious. A fitting theme for the game's devil character.)
12. Battle for Freedom- Final Fantasy XII (This memorable track starts of slow with a beautiful set of strings before it starts to gradually pick up giving a sense of build up and the coming storm. But it's at its best once we start to reach the main melodies. It picks up growing more and more dramatic before finally unleashing its full fury and throwing an orchestral masterpiece at you. This theme gives you the feeling of fighting impossible odds to bring freedom to the world from those who wish to do harm. Every time I hear it I'm filled with a sense of determination and hope that I can become the hero I was meant to be.)
13. Born Anew & Nascent Requiem- Final Fantasy XIII (An amazing piece of musical genius. The Final Fantasy franchise has always been known for its beautiful music and these tracks are no exception. The first starts off dramatically and gives you a sense of godly might. The second starts off strong giving you a sense of determination and hope. Then it picks up and gives you a whopping helping of godly power! It keeps going getting more chaotic as it picks up more before slowing down for a short lull before picking back up with more dramatic tones and powerful drums. Soon it becomes chaotic once more before finally slowing with a soft horn and strings solo. This song does well to display the emotions in this battle. Something that Final Fantasy is famous for.
14. Invisible Depths- Final Fantasy XIII-2 (An epic and dramatic rendition of Caius' theme. This fast paced theme does well to give the sense of fighting the ultimate enemy with its intense instrumentals, fast catchy synths, and its haunting chorus. A fitting theme for the final boss.)
15. Eternal Love & Almighty Bhunivelze- Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII (Oh my god fits these two themes perfectly yet doesn't even begin to describe them. The first track is simply amazing with great instrumentals and a beautiful chorus. You are given the feeling of being in the presence of god himself. It makes you feel so small and insignificant yet gives you the strength to keep fighting. The second track on the other hand delivers a sense of finality, telling you that you're almost at the end of it and to keep going. It also gives you a great sense of nostalgia by having themes from the previous games merged into it most notably Born Anew, and Caius' Theme. These two themes have more emotion packed into them then that of any other final boss theme save for maybe Dancing Mad.
16. Chaos Battle 1,2, and 3- Dissidia Final Fantasy (This track is an interesting peice since it comes in three separate parts. The first part starts off slow giving you the sense that Chaos is taking his own sweet time and doesn't see you as a threat while also giving you a feel for his power. The second part is faster in pace and gives you a feel that Chaos is now taking you seriously as he unleashes more of his power. The final part has a more final feel to it as Chaos now pulls out all the stops to defeat you. All in all this is a good theme and fits well in a fighting game like Dissidia. And while nowhere near as good as Cantata Mortis & God in Fire, it is a good theme nonetheless.)
While Final Fantasy has great final boss themes their not the only ones that I like.
1. Gaurdando Nel Buio- Kingdom Hearts (A rendition of the song Destati for the final battle of Kingdom Hearts. The opening notes for this theme give a grandiose feeling as the choir starts singing giving a sense of foreboding. As you initially fight this battle alone in the first phase it feels especially menacing. When I first heard this theme it left such a great impression on me that it still sends shivers done my spine whenever I here those opening notes.)
2. Lord of the Castle- Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories (A theme used for the final battle against Marluxia in Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories. The slow start builds up tension as you face Marluxia's imposing figure with his angel of death looming behind him which really gives you a sense that this is the final battle. And it won't be easy.)
3. Darkness of the Unkown- Kingdom Hearts II (This amazing three piece theme is used for the final battle against Xemnas at the end of Kingdom Hearts II. The first segment used for the World of Nothingness dragon is a simplistic melody in of itself and does well to convey the feeling of a massive arial battle against a creature the size of a city. The second part of the theme picks up and gives off a more desperate atmosphere, giving you the feeling that the stakes have been raised greatly. The third and final part of the theme is slower compared to the other two parts but does well to give you a feel for just how powerful Xemnas is and just how hard the battle will be. Over all this is an amazing piece and I will remember it fondly until the day I die.)
4. Vector to the Heavens- Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (While Another Side Battle Version was an amazing piece, I would have to give this place to this theme. No other song carries as much emotional weight to me than Vector to the Heavens. Here you and your best friend, one of the most prescious people in the world to you, are locked in a grueling battle to the death thanks to the machinations of the people you once thought of as your allies. The sheer emotion in this song brings great pain to my heart whenever I reach this stage of the boss. And with Xion's death scene following so shortly after this great battle is absolutely heart wrenching! Never before have I felt so strongly about a fictional character's death in a video game since I had seen Aerith death back when I was young. This theme will forever be one of my most favorite Kingdom Hearts themes ever!)
5. Dismiss- Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep (This exciting theme fits very well for this battle. The choir chanting throughout the track adds anot her level of emotion to this already foreboding track. This battle always reminded me of the Obi Wan vs Anikin battle from Revenge of the Sith only with a lot more emotion behind it. The initial difficulty I hand in this battle also makes this theme all the more memorable.)
6. L'impeto Oscuro- Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance (Again, while not the final boss of the game, I still prefer this one over all of the others in Dream Drop Distance. I can't say much, other than the theme really fits the battle quite well. Go and fight this boss and you'll know what I mean.)
