The event forcibly brings them closer together and brings up conflicting feelings in both Will and Alicia, who were still on bad terms.

One year from Will's death is a difficult day for Alicia. It ends with a very honest and candid conversation between she and Diane. Diane gives her a thumb-drive that contains a journal Will had kept over the five years since Alicia joined the firm. Alicia will now know Will's side of the story, including what he thought the day before he died. This might help heal her open wounds.
