Avatar image credit: Dane of Celestia from Deviant Art I hope you don't mind me using this image for my avatar Dane of Celestia, it's really cool and I feel connected to it. When I left high school I felt secure in my faith, but, like the knight, I feel like my armor of faith has taken a beating, and now after suffering much I am still trying to hold on. That's what I see when I look at the image and hope you don't mind. For more awsome looking Dark Souls art, check out Dane's work on Deviant Art, you won't be disappointed. God's Not Dead. I am a resident of the state of Arizona, USA and I am three-quarter Native American, Navajo (Nava-ho) to be precise, and one quarter Irish "Patriotism means to stand by the country, it does not mean to stand by the president," Theodore Roosevelt John 3:16-17 The Lord's Prayer: Our Father, which art in heaven, The power, and the glory, For ever and ever. Amen. The Navajo Prayer: In beauty I walk Hózhóogo naasháa doo I am a Christian, but I also have respect for my native roots and ways of life and I try to combine the two, pay respect to my ancestors while also following the word of the Lord. May sound controversial and odd considering how Christianity was forced on native Americans, but my family found peace in the religion. My great-grandma suffered much in the early border schools, she'd tell stories of how she would run away across the desert when she was a young girl, but she came to Christ in her own way and wished for her family to do the same. Just felt like explaining that as a lot of people asked me about my faith and why I have the Navajo prayer also posted on my page A lot has happened since I first joined in 2013. I am now a journalist fresh from college, wanting to get back into my stories and wanting to make a difference for my people in some way. I am currently in the process of trying to write my own stories, it's slow especially because of work and trying to write stories here on FF. But I am going to keep trying and hope to publish a book one day and maybe you'll get to see it. Check out this documentary from 2020 featuring where I work, where I live, and what we're dealing with in the wake of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Try to guess which one I am, hint: I have screentime for about 3 seconds- The New Yorker's "Covering the COVID-19 crisis in the Navajo Nation" |
