I am trying to write a fanfic that doesn't have cliches, however given the amount of fanfics on this site, that's really not going to happen; therefore, I will keep them to a minimum.
The pairings I like:
Harry/Daphne
Harry/Fleur
Harry/Gabrielle
Harry/O.F.C.
Because all three females are a blank canvas when it comes to canon and allow the writer a greater freedom. Most fanfics are already changing the canon Harry, so changing the female lead will be too tedious to do. The pairings that I can't stand:
Harry/Hermione- I simply don't like how pushy Hermione is and most the fanfics have Harry bowing down to her. A relationship is only successful when both sides compromise and comprehend one another. One party serving every whim of the other doesn't make a good relationship.
Harry/Ginny- JKR probably did this to give everyone a 'happily ever after'. Ginny is too creepy and shallow to have any meaningful relationship with Harry. The fact that many fanfics employ the over used ploy of 'Harry liking a red-head because is father did too' makes this pairing only worse.
Ron/Hermione- as one of the most lazy and bigoted person of potterverse pairing him with one of the most driven and social justice warrior character is simply asking for disaster. Both will either end up unhappy or Hermione's character will simply over-power Ron's.
