If you'd like to read anything recent of mine, please go to my A03 page, where my name is the same. I will keep this page up to post my friends' collabs and keep stories on my favorite list that aren't on A03. Also, I can only talk to some people with PM on this site. But I've posted several stories on AO3 over October that aren't here. If you wish to read anything new, please visit my A03 page. Thank you! I do not accept requests from strangers. I will write them for my friend's circle, but I only do them for people I know. So please be so kind as not to keep bugging me about it. Also, to be clear, I do not role-play. Therefore, please don't ask me if I do. I will also not disclose my email or edit for random people. So please don't ask me to edit your work for you or expect me to give random strangers personal information. Thank you. Why writing fanfics is so much fun! The best thing about writing fanfics is the ability to change things. You can write the characters however you want because there is no rule that they have to stay as they are in the canon material. So we can do our favorite ships and offer villains a chance to redeem themselves. And if done right, write good original characters—you are only limited by your imagination. But again, the possibilities are endless, which is why I enjoy writing fanfics so much! I can make things in my own way. So that's why its so fun. It's gotten even more fun since getting Grammely Premium, so its written better. Also, I've enjoyed working with several of you to enhance your stories or write them together! So yes! It's so much fun! My only wish is that I could have the type of conversation with you guys on other people's fanfics. Sadly, it's no fault of yours, but I can't find anyone who can have the in-depth, intelligent conversation I desire. Again, it's not your fault. Accountability I'm making this clear. No one, NO ONE, should ever be above the law, no matter how rich they are or their position. It's past time; everyone should be held accountable for their actions, not hiding behind loopholes or spreading lies. Nor should people be threatened for doing the right thing. It's past time the world's collective morals and conscience woke up. It's time we did what is right and what our heavenly Father wants of his children. Its time to make it clear every single human being is held to the same standards no matter what. And that they are duly punished for their wrongdoing. It's time people stop following sociopaths and madmen. It's time we make it clear that everyone is held to the same accountability. If you think ignoring what is morally right and what it means to uphold integrity? Then I pity you. But again, its time this world stopped catering to the rich or those in power. No one is greater or lesser. And we ALL must be held accountable for our actions. We are always 100% responsible for our actions, which have consequences. And its past time people remembered that. So it's time we did the duty our Father left us. We must act not in the name of one person but for true equality and moral responsibility. Again, no matter who you are, we are past due for holding everyone accountable for their actions. It's time to stand up for what is right and not what is easy. It's time that money and death threats should no longer interfere with the course of justice. Take it or leave it, but pay attention to what is right and wrong. And do not believe something just because ONE person says it. Especially when the facts prove unquestionably they are lying. Thank you. My thanks. I want to show appreciation for all my online brothers and sisters and those who leave constructive reviews. I also thank you immensely, as I'm very thankful that most of the cover art is pictures my online friends have done at my request. So I love them for that. I am, moreover, giving others a chance to see my friends' incredible artwork. So thank you! Also, I'll have been writing fanfics for 20 years by 2024. For the year 2022? I've posted 187 stories. That is 15 chapter stories and 73 one-shots. I also added 16 fandoms to my list this year. Also, this year, I've done six collab stories. I look forward to what next year will bring in terms of writing. Starting in 2023, I'll be working on an original story idea. I've had the baseline for it figured out for the past two years. You can read it on my A03 and DA accounts since this website is fanfiction only. It will be called Shadow Falls. It will mix a slice of life with a few touches of fantasy. I hope some of you'll read it. Again, I'll write it throughout the year with my normal fanfics. So, I am still determining how long it will be and everything that will happen. But I felt you all deserved a heads-up. Again, my screen name for A03 and DA is the same here. Kelseyalicia. So again, if you're curious about my original story, please look it up. Thank you! I'd appreciate it if you did me an immense favor. That is if you're reading my older work. I would appreciate it if you cut me some slack. Please check the year it was written before passing judgment on me or my current stories. It's essential to remember none of us start as specialists in writing. It takes years of practice through trial and error. Therefore, we all start from the beginning. We can only hope we can grow and learn as we go. Please kindly cut me and others' slack if our writing isn't perfect. It's better to know we are human and have room to grow. After all, constructive criticism enables us to grow as people and writers. However, if you intend to humiliate and ridicule others? Then, you've got several issues of your own to work through. But, again, a reviewer's job is to assist people in growing. It's not a free pass to criticize someone so you can feel better about yourself. Remember, don't say anything if you can't say something nice. Treat others how you wish to be treated. There is more then enough negativity in this world. We don't need to poison the world with more of it. Bio Information My name is Kelsey, and my birthday is Oct. 14th, 1987. I've two tattoos—one on each arm. The original is a winged panther, and the second is a winged unicorn. I'm short with short hair and two different colored eyes. I also wear glasses and predominantly dress in shirts and pants. I only own a few dresses I usually wear around my apartment. My strengths are that I'm imaginative, open-minded, compassionate, thoughtful, and intelligent. I've worked exceptionally hard in my recovery. Furthermore, I'm honest to a fault. I tended to put everyone in front of me. But, sometimes, people take advantage of my kind nature. So, I ensure my friends are doing well before contemplating my needs. My shortcomings consisted of the following. I quickly get frustrated. I additionally need more patience. Finally, I severely need to improve my social skills due to my various mental illnesses. My complete list of mental issues is Bipolar, Histrionic Personality Disorder, Aspergers, ADHD, Depression, and Anxiety. None of which is a good stew. The symptoms all conflict badly together. Consequently, I do have difficulties functioning in what most would consider normal. Yet, like everyone else, I'm doing my most reasonable to address my symptoms. I don't blame my actions on my mental illness. Instead, I take accountability for my mistakes. I work hard each day to become a better person. So, no worries there. Because of my various disorders, I've had some black-and-white thinking. So, I get straight to the source of the problem. I don't beat around the bush. Instead, I focus on what matters, not the B.S. that doesn't. For example, I need clarification on why people care about how their child is born. How they are born shouldn't matter. It's if they're born healthy that matters. My opinion on what makes someone human, or who I'll call a demon, comes down to whether you embrace your humanity by being kind, thoughtful, and empathic. To demonstrate compassion and have a heart. If you assume the worst of human nature? Where you're narcissistic, lying, and deliberately harming others for your own gain, then I'll call you a demon. I do my best to accept others for who they are. I strive only to judge someone based on their choices and nothing else. Although I've got more then a few subjects, I'd acknowledge I see them in black and white. But I can still see some shades of gray. I'm through my writing to find out who I am as a person. Then, I discuss my feelings, beliefs, and things conceivably. I've been screamed at quite a bit for opening my mouth, so I strive to air on the side of caution. I've significantly improved as an author and artist. My writing has been enhanced since I acquired Grammarly. My artwork has gotten better over years of practice. I'm starting to sketch individuals unrelated to my fanfics. I'm on F.F., DA, A03, and Y.T. My screen name is the same. While on YouTube, I cannot post any videos of my own. I do, however, have multiple playlists. I've taken a liking to discussion videos where a physical individual breaks down various subjects because I'd love to have the opportunity to do that myself. However, I can't help but wish, as I'm sure several of you do, that we could make our fanfics genuine. For example, I want to magically make amvs with scenes from my stories. Or again, if my O.C. were authentic, have people do discussion videos regarding them. I'm incredibly passionate about animation. I've even started adding pretend voice actors for my O.C.s to push my originality. A professional once told me that I was innately proficient in voice acting. Collabs I've been doing several collaborations with my online friends. Some of my page's stories are my friends' stories. I've edited and posted them since they don't have an account here. I love to help my friends and give credit where its due. I'm currently doing this for three friends. Unfortunately, two do not have fanfiction accounts. So this is why I'm posting them here and A03. The Neo-Senshi are my friend Japananimegirl's stories. Anything to do with the Danny Phantom OC Kai is my friend Kaithunder's story. Kaithunder has recently set up her own A03 account. Her screen name there is EnbyKai. She'll post her story, Leukophobia, on her new A03 account. But she has permitted me to continue to post future chapters on my account for her. Currently, Specter14 and I are doing a Danny Phantom collab story. Now, I'll be publishing it on my A03 and Deviantart accounts. After that, Specter14 will be publicizing it here on her fanfiction account. I've also been doing and will continue to write several one-shots about her OC, Ceci Masters/ Ceci Spirit. We'll be composing different chapters, with me doing the editing. Specter14 wrote the prologue, and I've written the first chapter. I'll keep you posted. Also, we'll keep you posted on updates. Positive Thinking At the beginning of this year, a friend sent me a book. Its called "A Year of Positive Thinking. "I've attached each day's positive thinking in my chapters and reviews. This is because I'm striving to improve everyone's mental outlook. Unfortunately, we've been encountering escalating difficulties with the world's mental health in recent years. Positive thinking matches what I've read or written on certain days. I'm striving to help people have healthy mental health. But you cannot dictate how anyone reviews. So please understand I'm just seeking to encourage people in my way. Furthermore, please attempt to remember what respect and manners are. We need those more then ever! Finally, it would greatly help my mental health if you could give me feedback. I cannot get better if no one reviews. I envy those stories with hundreds or thousands of reviews and followers. It's depressing that only one individual is commenting on anything I accomplish. It would help me immensely if people started reviewing my work more. But, again, I cannot improve my writing if I'm getting no feedback whatsoever. Can more people start leaving me reviews again? So I might better myself more? Thank you. Practical Writing Advice To write good fanfiction, you have to understand what good writing is. Thus, looking up Mark Twain's Rules of Good Writing would be best. They are beneficial and lead to incredible stories. Among the rules is "Use the correct word and not its second cousin." As using my Grammarly will tell you, please use words a knowledgeable audience knows. Refrain from showing off your vocab that forces people to look up the words you are using. It makes it harder to read if you use words people don't know. It will only make reading harder if people don't know what you're trying to say. Another important rule is to write in a simple style. So you have to ensure people understand both the setting and can follow the plot. The plot must be indisputably established. The story will only succeed if people determine what you're trying to say or accomplish. It's imperative to proofread and edit several times. If you do, you will be able to catch mistakes. Doing it a few times helps reduce these mistakes. Again, getting help from Grammarly or other writing apps is crucial. Also, please stay moderate on details. Whether its a character's description or parts of the story. Don't go overboard. Allow the reader to fill in some of the blanks with their imagination. If the universe you're writing in has an established timeline, stay within it. Only add events that have happened. Yes, many fandoms have a never-ending repeating year. However, try to keep within the established years. Do proper research with any story you're writing. Yet don't info dump. People are not reading fanfics to be given a history lecture. We're reading to escape reality for a few hours. Also, please make the chapters brief. You don't have to cram so much into one chapter. This can be a turn-off for many readers if they slog through a long chapter. So it would be best to balance how many chapters and how long they are sometimes if the story is longer than expected. So, break it into smaller stories based on the arc. Again, some ideas need more time to write. So, break it into smaller chapters. However, don't overdo the chapters, either. Again, its a crucial balance between the length of the story and the chapter. If its highly long in both chapters and size. Many people will only remember how the narrative has gone if there is a clear end. Or because they cannot follow along. Due to the length, placing everything would take a lot of work. So again, strike the right balance and know when to break it into smaller stories. Please remember to add actions and emotions when a person is speaking. However, refrain from writing their actions as if the character were saying them aloud. For example, if someone is sobbing, please don't say "Sob, How, Sob." This makes it look like they're saying it. Which is sloppy writing and again shows you didn't proofread. Also, it would be best to care about who is reading your stories. There is no point in posting online if you don't care about others. Finally, you must listen to constructive criticism if you genuinely wish to improve. Don't be so high and mighty. It would be best if you showed the ability to listen and humility. If you think you're perfect, you'll never grow, particularly if people have repeatedly pointed out the same problem. A reviewer's job is to help people better themselves. There is a clear difference between trolling and constructive criticism. So again, don't be so proud that you can't swallow your pride and listen to those trying to help. While having a baseline for your stories is good, it also helps not to make it concrete. Your fanfic is likely to change many times over. So be flexible both when you're posting and when you're writing. Ensure you've quality over quantity. Also, write for something other than a knitch. It's also a good idea to show some form of originality. That means you shouldn't rehash the existing story by adding a butt load of characters that don't add or change the plot. Also, go a little out of your comfort zone. So you can grow as a writer. Original Characters can be extremely tricky. First, you must ensure they're moderately powerful, relatable, and fit into the world. I've seen too many people add a shit load of characters that don't add anything. Instead, they are Mary Sue because they're too powerful. Or it's not relatable at all. You've to make someone human by figuring out the character psychologically. So please refrain from writing out what their flaws are. Instead, write them in your mind without preconceived flaws. Let them come out naturally as you're writing. Overplanning leads to problems. Often, it's better to let the characters write themselves than have them planned out. That way, it comes across as more natural. But, again, showing humility and not thinking you're perfect is essential. For any occupation, you never stop learning. So, avoid being prideful and unable to grow. Also, attempts at times to break free from established storylines. We've had plenty of stories that are so similar and too predictable. Therefore, the storyline is no longer enjoyable. Don't be afraid to break free of the norms. Remember, real life isn't clear-cut. Also, make your characters as well-rounded as they can be. Worldbuilding and character development are critical. However, neither should be overdone. Again, don't shove it down someone's throat. Strike the right balance between show and tell. Don't worry about real-world logic. As long as it fits the logic within the story, it will be fine. After all, in fiction? Real-world logic goes out the window from the start. Also, offering the bad guys a chance at redemption would be best. It's easy to die or do nothing. However, it is a more significant challenge to admit mistakes. Then, grow as a person and change. So that's more interesting. Also, don't be afraid to let your heroes fall to the dark side. Everyone is vulnerable to temptation. People are complex and flawed. Anyone can give into temptation. So feel free if the good guys go south. While keeping canon characters in character is vital, be bold and let them step out of their comfort zone. Particularly if its an alternate universe. Remember, in fiction, there are no limits. However, again, keep it within the constraints of the universe you're writing about. Please remember not to throw things out of the left field. Instead, ensure that it fits into the established rules in your stories. Again, make it less predictable so people will find it interesting. Change things up and think outside of the box. Once again, feel free to go against the norms. Always ask for a second opinion. However, it is helpful to ask someone who isn't biased. So, do your best to push yourself. Those are my concluding thoughts. My friend's birthday poem to me I see an angel of light who, despite her hardships, always finds time to help out others. She shares every single bit of herself with the world. Those she helps return the favor by offering her much love and support. When it comes to others, her internal struggles matter less. I know she treats others as she wants to be treated -- as equals. That's what makes her whole, not what's determined for her. To me, she'll always be an angel. Nothing will ever stop her from growing as a person. She'll always have my support, along with everyone else's. An Edited Version of Mark Twain's Rules of Good Writing A tale shall accomplish something and arrive somewhere. 2. The episodes in a tale shall be necessary parts of the story and help develop it. 3. The personages in a tale shall be alive except in the case of corpses. Therefore, the reader shall always be able to tell the corpses from the others. 4. The personages in a tale, both dead and alive. They shall exhibit a sufficient excuse for being there. 5. When the personages of a tale deal in conversation. They shall talk like human talk, such as humans, who would likely speak in the given circumstances. 6. When the author describes the character of a personage in the tale. The conduct and conversation of that personage shall justify said description. 7. The personages of a tale shall confine themselves to possibilities. If they venture a miracle, the author must plausibly set it forth to make it look possible and reasonable. 8. The author shall make the reader feel a deep interest in the personages of his tale and their fate. He shall make the reader love the good people in the story and hate the bad ones. 9. The characters in a tale shall be so clearly defined that the reader can tell beforehand what each will do in a given emergency. 10. Say what he is proposing to say, not merely come near it. 11. Use the right word, not its second cousin. 12. Eschew surplusage. 13. Remember to include the necessary details. 14. Avoid slovenliness of form. 15. Use good grammar. 16. Employ a straightforward style. |
