![]() Author has written 3 stories for Negima! Magister Negi Magi/魔法先生ネギま!, and Clannad. Name: Tim J. Pen-name: Grimbt Location: Seattle, Washington Twitter Handle: @grimbtemplar Age/Sex: 31/M Occupation: Alumnus of University of Washington Microbiology Department. Research Scientist, Phase 1 Laboratory, Division of Oncology, Department of Medicine, University of Washington Interests: Mahou Sensei Negima: Favorite pairings: Kono/Setsu, and Negi/almost any girl except Yue (for some reason she just bugs me... Too bad too because her character idea is awesome.) If you forced me to choose I'd probably go with Negi/Nodoka, or Negi/Evangeline (an unusual choice, I know. But I love Eva's dark past mixed with her young appearance. Akamatsu really hit it out of the park when he thought of her). The more I read however, I am becoming a big fan of Negi/Asuna. This pair, while seemingly obvious, is apparently hard to write about. Either that or no-one likes them together. The other obvious pairing that I love to write is Kotaro/Natsumi. I think they're really cute, and I was really sad their relationship never went farther than it did. Note: I have read the entire manga so some of my current and future writings might give some things away, sorry. The best way to solve that problem is to put my story down and go finish Negima! I have not, however, watched any of the anime, so I won't draw on that source. Clannad: Where do I begin?! Clannad won me over from the very first episode. The way the story weaves drama, comedy, heart warming moments, and heart-wrenching moments left me with a definite sense that this was the best, most complete anime that I have ever watched, and may ever watch. It rarely had a moment where I wasn't fully invested in the story, even in a filler section (which there are not many of, thankfully). One thing I can say for certain is that the music is SENSATIONAL. It has a phenomenal soundtrack that will put you in tears every time you hear it. The characters are flawed, each with their own struggle that they have to deal with, but pulling together as friends helps them succeed past their individual failings. One of the best parts about this series is that most of the struggles are things that could actually happen in real life. So they hit you even harder when they come around. If I had to say one thing and one thing only about Clannad, it would be that you need to watch the subbed version first. You can watched the dubbed version, sure, but the Japanese voice acting does such a powerful job delivering the emotion of the situations to the viewer, I personally feel that to not watch the subbed version would be to disgrace the work and the talent of the voice actors who brought the characters to life. Now stop reading about it, AND GO WATCH IT! Angel Beats!: This is a very interesting anime. It is by the same people as Clannad, so I went into it with high hopes. And it only exceeded my expectations. Action, mystery, tension, romance, and great voice acting converge to give a plot that will make you laugh, cry, and curse your fortune as a happy person. Just as in Clannad, the music is definitely a highlight. Differently though, the anime relies on an acceptance of in-world circumstances that might test some viewers' limit of believability. I say don't worry about it. Just watch the show. It's really good! For this show it is hard to list a favorite pairing because they are almost all pre-set or non-existant. Suffice it to say that the ones that come up by the end of the series are really good ones. Mass Effect 1-3: I absolutely love the Mass Effect universe. It is, without a doubt, my favorite video game. I love everything about it. Yes, yes, the non-DLC ending saddened me a little, but the way I've always seen it is that there was no real logical way to end it other than what happened. If you feel otherwise, please go ahead and PM me and we can chat about it--or anything else from the ME universe. Favorite pairings: Shepard/Tali (DUH!). My next favorite is actually FemShep/Garrus. Then in decreasing interest: FemShep/Thane (the ending of this relationship made me cry and I'm not afraid to admit it), Shepard/Liara. I never felt drawn to any of the humans. Ash was somewhat fun in ME1 because she was so feisty. But she seriously went downhill in the drama department as the series went on. Kaiden was an absolute snore fest. Favorite non-romance characters: Mordin and Legion. I sing Mordin's song in the shower most days and Legion's story line was by far the most interesting of all across all three games (plus I love snipers--the Widow in particular--"It is an efficient model.") Wrex and Grunt are close to them because of the sheer awesomeness of the Krogan. Favorite Class: Infiltrator. I know, i know. Infiltrator is OP... Well suck it. I love sniping and ME2 and 3 had exceptional sniping. I never really fell in love with the cloaking ability, but it was useful. Morality Path: Paragon. I've done a Renegade Shepard and FemShep, but Paragon always pulls me back. So many of the Paragon situations are so sweet, I can't resist them. Blood Plus: If you haven't heard of it, GO FIND IT! I feel like it is little known--at least in the circles I travel--but it is definitely worth the time. It's only about 50 episodes, so you could pop it out in a week or two, depending on your schedule. Favorite Pairings: Saya/Haji and Kai/Irene. Haji is just about my favorite anime character. I mean, a guy that calls himself a Chevalier (the French pronunciation) who fights with the case of the cello he plays? Can't get much better than that. Also, sorry Solomon. I love your character, but Haji gets the girl! The short love affair between Kai and Irene almost broke my heart, as it did Kai's. My only complaint with the anime was that these two didn't end up together... So sad... Other interests: Inuyasha (haven't finished the last season of the anime), Love Hina (manga-finished), Eureka 7 (anime-finished), Death Note (manga-finished), UQ Holder (manga-started), Bleach (manga/anime-finished the Aizen arc), Angel Beats (anime-by the same people who made Clannad. It's pretty good), Naruto (mange/anime-haven't made it very far), Pokemon (Emerald version is my favorite), Legend of Zelda (videogame-I've really only played Wind Waker, but I've beat that one many times. One of the best games I've ever played), Wheel of Time series (book, fantasy genre--I'm only on book 9--it's taking me a long time to read it), Warhammer 40K (tabletop war game--a select few of you might recognize this from my pen-name), Dungeons Dragons (doesn't need expaining), and last but certainly not least: The Elder Scrolls Series (other than Mass Effect, TES is my favorite set of games). Favorite Quotes: "Have a pleasant day." -Glyph, ME3. "Omega has only one rule: don't FUCK with Aria." -Aria T'Loak, ME2. "I am the vanguard of your destruction." -Sovereign, ME1. Come with me... Little girl." -Ulquiorra Cifer "Any betrayal you can see is trivial. What is truly frightening, and much more lethal, is the betrayal you cannot see." -Sosuke Aizen "Now, we head towards the battlefield! Believe, and our blades will not break! Believe, and our hearts will not bend! Through the roads we take may be different, our iron hearts will beat as one! Swear, that even if the Earth is torn asunder, we will come back here alive!" -Renji Abarai "Death is lighter than a feather, duty heavier than a mountain." -Rand al'Thor, Wheel of Time Series.
