I'm a grad student, working on my doctorate now. I work in my campus' "resource center" (it's a library which also hosts the big computer lab & the tutors). I help students with their writing & research needs, while working on my dissertation. We were shut down for a long while, but now we're back open and chaos is reigning.

Other things about me: I'm Choctaw. I'm pagan. I'm a pipekeeper. I'm queer. My pronouns are they/them. I collect "A"s, which is a hilarious joke that references the fact that I'm autistic, agender, asexual, and aromantic. Oh, and I have anxiety & ADD.

I've been writing for over two decades, in multiple genres, but I got into publishing fanfiction relatively recently. I do a lot of competitions & challenges as a way of decompressing from academia and practicing social skills. I do not owe anyone a dissertation on why I write what I do.

Where's the review I left? If you asked any question as a guest, I've deleted it. I also delete any bigoted or troll guest review.
Why didn't my review show up? FFN technical issues aside, I have moderation active due to an influx of bigoted reviewers. Guest reviews must be approved.
Why didn't you answer my question? I most likely couldn't. FFN is not AO3. If you are not logged in and/or able to receive PMs, I cannot respond to your review.
Why did you block me? I did not want to interact with you or have you to interact with my work. The top reasons are bigotry followed by rudeness. Just saying.
Don't you think blocking me is overreacting? Sure don't.
Why don't you accept criticism? Why do you feel the need to leave unsolicited criticism?
But I'm being nice!/But I'm just trying to help! See Law 2a below.
But I don't think I should be blocked! You can think that. You're still blocked.

Meta Stuff

Why do you have so much meta junk on every chapter? Because I need it for my various competitions. Yes. I actually do need it all on every chapter.
Why do you include a disclaimer? Everyone knows it's fanfiction! Having it every chapter strengthens any legal defense that may become necessary.
But your word count is deceptive/misleading! Only on FFN where I'm forced to put the meta junk in the story rather than dedicated separate areas.
But I don't like that! Take it up with the FFN admins. This is not within my control.

Content-Centric

Why don't you update X? I update as I get things done. If it's not updated, the next part (if any) is not complete.
Why isn't X longer? Because it isn't.
Why isn't there more of X? Because there isn't.
Why didn't you have X happen? Because I didn't.
I don't like X. Not a question, but alright.
I don't agree that X is canon. Not a question, but alright.
The meta team said in an interview/on Twitter— I'm gonna stop ya right there because it doesn't matter. That's not canon. It's never gonna trump canon.

Specifically about Diversity (because bigotry is real, yo)

Why is X character autistic/neurodivergent? Why not?
Why is X character not Christian? Why not?
Why is X character gay/bi/ace/aro? Why not?
Why is X character trans/NB? Why not?
Why is X character gender bent? Why not?
Why is X character not white or not British/American? Why not?
X is British/American! They are WHITE! Shockingly, both Brits & American aren't exclusively one race. Insisting that they are says something about you, not me.
X is a pureblood! They are WHITE! Blood purity is determined by number of magical generations, not skin color. Maybe you need to reread the books.
X isn't white! Do they still have X feature from canon? Amazingly enough certain features (such as red hair & green eyes) are not exclusively found in white people. Gingers can (and do!) come in all ethnic groups. Same with other mutative feature such as green eyes or producing lactase in adulthood.
You've changed the character until they're not recognizable! That says more about you than me.
Why are so many answers on this list "why not"? Try answering why a character should not be X. It should become clear. If it doesn't, please block me.
Why didn't you warn for X change? Because it's not a trigger and requires no warning.
Why didn't you include a backstory to explain X change? Because it doesn't need a backstory.
Why didn't you change the gender of a title? Because words don't have genders in English.

o Laws of Fandom o

1) Don't like. Don't Read. If you do not like something, you are not obligated to read it. Exit buttons exist.
2) Silence is Golden but Respect is Platinum. If you're not going to read something or if you don't like it, the creator does not need to know. But if you like something, tell the creator. Creators love to hear that people are enjoying things they made.
2a) Nice Doesn't Mean Correct. No matter how "nice" you think you are, unsolicited criticism is rude. Published works are not the place to offer your opinion about what can be improved. It is never constructive, no matter how you structure or phrase it. Unless an author asks for it, just don't do it.
3) Your Mileage May Vary. Just because you interpret canon a certain way does not mean that everyone did. Our interpretations of things vary. That's okay.
4) Your Kink is Not My Kink. Just because you enjoy a certain thing does not mean that everyone does. It doesn't even have to be a "kink". It could be a certain genre, AU, or trope. It could be a certain perspective or format. Just let people do their thing in peace.
5) Ship & Let Ship. You don't have to like any particular ship or ship type. You don't have to justify that, just like you don't have to justify any ships that you do like. You just have to let people do their thing.
