Author has written 14 stories for Rio, Little Mermaid, Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Captain Marvel.

Hey, I'm Sorrel. If you're interested in the 'behind the scenes' stuff, I got a few trivia points on my stories and OCs.

The Little Mermaid story and character trivia

  1. I'm 80% sure that I've gotten the age order of Ariel's sisters wrong.
  2. The reason Tip and Dash aren't in my fanfics is because I honestly don't like them and that 'comical sidekick duo' cliche - comedy also isn't my forte. They're mentioned a couple of times and make a brief appearance at the end of MotO to appease those who like the characters. Also they really don't fit the darker tones and themes I have going, and four main characters is enough as it is.
  3. I've only recently remembered that Lysidus initially had a poisoned metal claw that I forgot about after his first use of it. Whoops. That sure would have helped him in the climax.
  4. I would love to rewrite these my Little Mermaid stories If I had the motivation. Looking back on them now I find them a little cringey to read. My writing and imagination has gotten wildly better since, and I feel that both those stories could have been written much better.

Rio story and character trivia

  1. Daniella and Emori became a couple in their adulthood.
  2. Azalea is Felipe's true love, not Adelaide. They would have ended up together regardless as to whether Adelaide survived the fire or not.
  3. Tia is the 'guardian angel'/fairy godmother character in my stories.
  4. The 'Festival of Stars' featured in Roberto and Sophia: A Blue Rose, is stolen inspired by the Festival of Lights in Tangled. The events of the dance near the end of the chapter is also stolen inspired by the events of the 'Enchantment Under the Sea Dance' in Back to the Future (Sadly, Azure does not stand there at the front playing the guitar).
  5. Daniella's lavender eyes and black head feathers are obviously unnatural, but I really loved the colour combination of lavender, black and bright blue (the rest of her feathers). I got the idea and style for the pink ribbon Emori wears from the one Esmeralda has in 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame'.
  6. Talitha survived, and like Roberto, fled and made her own family. She eventually reunited with her brother a little while after Alegria.
  7. That's right, I snuck a kermit meme reference into chapter 25 of Alegria. But that's none of your business.
  8. I think we can all agree that Isaac is my most useless side character. He only exists really because I didn't want Roberto and Sophia having the same size brood as Blu and Jewel.
  9. Some of Sophia's mentioned former love interests who 'disappeared' were actually killed by Jespa when they ignored his warnings to leave her. Jespa was also originally going to be Sophia's controlling and obsessive ex boyfriend.
  10. Adelaide was in love with Jewel before she died.

Meta author thoughts; where I laugh at my past writing.

My god, Rio is a series marketed at kids. I read back on them now and I'm floored by how dark and dramatic they are - abusive relationships, child neglect, disfigurement, murders, mental illness, hell, torture? I feel awful now. I was a very angsty and naive teenager (I was thirteen to sixteen throughout the darkest storylines) and I handled some of these serious topics insensitively.

Melody and Finn are boring, kind of like your standard issue young adult couple in a post apocalyptic series (I was obsessed with The 100 at the time of writing, it might've influenced this). I think Zafrina and Bay have a way more interesting and healthy relationship. I also kick myself for the way I introduced Zafrina. I'm much happier with how I portrayed her in Ocean of Darkness as a jaded, muscular, warrior-badass as opposed to the sexy, ditsy femme fatale I introduced her as.

I cringe reading over those fluffy marvel one shots I wrote in 2018-19. Of course the point of a fix it is to make the reader and author feel better especially after the downright abuse the MCU writers subjected these characters to - but reading back over them feels like being force fed honey while being blinded by a ray of sunshine.

And lastly, Remember Me literally took three years off my life.
