![]() Author has written 18 stories for Remington Steele, Little House on the Prairie, Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Rookies, and Matt Houston. I'm a storyteller. I tell stories. That's what I do and what I do leaves people asking for more. That's a tangible indication that I am good at what I do. That's a good feeling, to know that there are people out there who like what I write and want me to write more. That's not ego, that's reality. And there are the naysayers out there that criticize me because I don't cross every T and dot every I, I use too many adverbs and most of what I write is AU, so OOC and improbable situations are going to happen whether the reader likes it or not. I don't do this for the money or the glory. I do it to stay sane, since writing fanfiction is a powerful antidote for writer's block and to keep my muse from going MIA. If you don't like what I write, you don't have to read it. There are literally thousands of other fanfic writers out there to read. I'll go to sleep tonight, as I do just about every night, knowing that with my writing, I brightened someone's day with a bit of plotless fluff or a slice of life, made someone think in completely different way about a character or a point of canon, or made someone cry for the loss of a beloved character. Well, that's me, at least the writer part of me, in a nutshell. Writing fanfic isn't really writing. WRONG! Anytime you put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) with the intention of conveying ideas and entertaining the masses, you are writing. Be it a short little Drabble addressing a random thought about what someone is wearing at a certain time, a 20 chapter AU that you just couldn't get out of your head till you wrote it out, a conversation about something that happened in the past, a short story written from an unorthodox point of view, a poem with extreme imagery, a screen play for an important movie, or the great American novel. Writing is writing is writing. Don't let anyone ever tell you different. I have been writing for about 35 years. I have won several awards, including a grand prize and several first prizes from the local library writing competition and the Editor's Choice Award from the International Library of Poetry, aka . I have also been invited to participate in a few prestigious writing competitions, including Nimrod and CrazyHorse. As a writer of Remington Steele fanfic, I like to write what ifs or short vignettes of what happened after the lights went out at Ashford Castle. Mostly it's what inspires me at any given moment in time. Sometimes I write fluff, because that is what is chewing on my brain, fighting to be released to paper and then to a computer screen. I have been a fan of Remington Steele since its premiere and saw many of the episodes when they first aired. Many years before Remington Steele came out on DVD, I was fortunate enough to be able to buy a complete bootleg set of bad quality video TV captures transferred to DVD. Needless to say, I wore them out. Now, I watch Remington Steele on real DVD in true HD on a 47" flat screen. My how times have changed. I have recently been writing a lot of fanfic for Scarecrow and Mrs King, since I acquired a complete set of DVDs and got a lot of inspiration from watching them. I let my muse out to play with these amazing characters and play it will. I also got the courage to write my first multi chapter serial AU based on the SMK episode Mission of Gold, titled Rumors of My Death. Most of what I have written thus far has been single chapter one shots. But this quickly turned into a 42 page 22,000 word multi chapter monster with ideas for continuations. Reviews of the finished story were amazing and encouraging. (Wow. Over 6000 hits to date, rave reviews and pleas for a continuation, which I am diligently working on along with a few other interesting tidbits.) My newest major undertaking is a future fic titled The Life We Choose or the Life That Chooses Us. Almost 2000 views in the first 24 hours after uploading it. Amazing. Still a work in progress, but frantically putting the finishing touches on the next few chapters. I also have interest in writing fanfic for Hart to Hart, Matt Houston, Walker Texas Ranger, Judging Amy, The Rookies, Charlie's Angels, Who's the Boss? and others that just have not attracted the notice of my lackadaisical and sometimes fickle muse. I am also a huge fan of Kate Jackson and Stephanie Zimbalist from way back and this is my way of paying tribute to these beautiful and amazingly talented women. |
