She makes great efforts to move on with her life, and then disaster strikes. "Make. Me. Care." She uttered the words one last time in a tissue thin voice, as cruel, embarrassing tears coursed down her cheeks. "Too late, Kate. You already do."

Low and rough, scraping at his vocal cords with a touch of something dark and smoky that tugs at Kate's gut, exciting and scaring her in equal measure.
