Why I love writing
I have always loved reading as a kid. I still remember a random open house day, (Day were your parents visit the school to see how you're doing in class) were my mother was talking to my teacher about me.
I was sitting next to them not really paying attention, (I was reading a book of course) but I remember my teacher saying this so clearly. "Your son as shown an ability to read at a much higher level then the other children, so I would like to get him started on some more advanced books."
I remember back in those days I was reading my Scooby Doo chapter books, while everyone else had those five page long books.
The first story I ever wrote was back in maybe the 2nd grade, it was an over ten page long (front and back) story about two astronauts that got stranded on Mars. I don't remember much about that story, but I do remember in the end they ended up making peace with the Martians and living there.
I remember in that same class we would write stories, and most of the time mine were always the one the teacher would read out loud. Though I remember being embarrassed about it all the time, thankfully she never said who wrote the story when she read it.
The reason I was embarrassed was because I have always had bad handwriting, and bad spelling. I'm surprised my teacher was ever able to read my stories.
I remember one time she was reading a story I wrote, and she was reading a fight scene. I can't remember what the story was, but this part of the story has always stuck with me.
In the story the main character hits his enemy with a STOOL, but my teacher had to reread that part. Then when she read the part out loud she said the main character hit his enemy with a STATUE.
That has always stuck with me, because when I think about it I realize how truly bad at spelling I am. Not just spelling I also have bad handwriting, and bad grammar. When it comes to writing, I suck at the well writing part.
When it comes to making up a story I can do that easily, I was always good at coming up with things off the top of my head. (Which is why I go by Improv) I'm just really bad at writing whatever story I make up, which makes me hate writing so much.
But at the same time I love it, I love making up stories. Creating something someone will read and forget about their problems, making up stories that can put smiles on peoples faces this is why I love writing.
My dream isn't to simply become a writer, to become an author that publishes a book, no I want something much bigger. My dream is to create a world through my stories.
I want people to read my stories and fall in love with the world I created. I want them to be inspired by it, I want them to write their own stories using the world I made.
I don't care about becoming rich, or becoming a world famous household name. I just want to be able to write, I just want to be able to create things people will enjoy. I guess I want this because I have always loved stories, I love reading them, watching them, hearing them, and playing them. This is what I want to do, but I still have a long way to go.
