Another Spuffy AU. Spike becomes Buffy's protector when everything goes wrong in her world. The story deserves it's rating. These are not my characters, but I sure do like playing with them.

A continuation of my "Better Things to Do" piece for those who wanted more than a one-shot. If Spike had known he would lose the Gem of Amara so quickly, he may have made better use of it. This is my theory of how he may have spent his invincibility if he'd been a little bit better at making plans.
