Burn like Roses - Ruby wields Ember Celica on a quest to find her sister across a war-torn Atlas.

So with this idea, Yang is kidnapped by Raven about five years before the start of the story and the only thing Ruby has to remember her by are early versions of Ember Celica. Ruby trains intensively with them and using her Semblance creates this speed-boxing style. I kind of picture her fighting like Rock Lee from Naruto, if that helps put it in perspective. When she is fifteen years old (so at the very start of canon), she catches a glimpse of Yang on the television from footage of a battlefield on Atlas which for story purposes would currently be involved in the middle of a civil war. Finally having her first lead, she sets out to go bring her back home.

If I do a pairing which I am not even sure I would for this story, it would be Lancaster as Jaune would go with Ruby on this quest. I actually don't think I would give him much combat and since he would still just be on his way to Beacon when he gets swept up in her adventure so his Aura wouldn't be unlocked. Would also likely star Penny as a main character as she would be some super-weapon designed for the war that Jaune and Ruby wind up having to escort as discreetly as possible across the country while on their way to find Yang. Basically, the idea of this story is to be mostly over-the-top action centered around Ruby's new fighting style. That's kind of what I'm running with at the moment.

Rewrite - Weiss still remembers the last words of a man who died saving her life over ten years ago. The question now is... how does Jaune Arc also know those very words?

Bear with me, as this idea gets out there. Jaune Arc, Adam Taurus, Glynda Goodwitch, and Amber were all students at Beacon ten years before the start of Canon (making them all 27 in the present). Jaune was actually a competent trainee and earned his spot as leader of their team. On a mission that was supposed to be guarding a peaceful Faunus protest, Jaune is severely injured saving a seven-year-old Weiss, to the point that Adam thinks he was killed. Thus begins Adam's turn to the White Fang as he abandons Beacon. Glynda finds out Jaune has in fact not died, but his Aura has locked itself inside himself and put him into an unaging coma.

Ten years go by, Amber becoming the Fall Maiden until Cinder attacks her and steals half the power. Glynda rises early to her position at Beacon as the deputy headmistress and continues to visit Jaune who still looks seventeen. Just before the start of Canon he wakes up with no memories of his time at Beacon, previous talent all but gone, and Aura still locked. Glynda forges his transcripts, sneaking him into Beacon anyways to better keep an eye on him. At this point, Canon starts and continues as is through the first season, no differences in Canonical events. Until one day, on a failed confession to Weiss, Jaune triggers a memory that forces her to realize Jaune isn't who he or anyone else thinks he is. As she starts to look into his past, the story begins.

Told you it was out there. So this idea is based on the Visual Novel: Rewrite (hence the title), but saying anything more would be heavy spoilers to the game. The pairing would be Jaune and Weiss, as really that is the only pairing I haven't done for Jaune and the main RWBY girls. Everything I described above is the background and not the main thick of the story.
