I don't really know what to put here, so, um, hello there. I'm theb3arjew. No, it's not racist or antisemitic or anything like that. You wouldn't believe how many complaints I get. Seriously. Go watch the movie. It's worth your time anyway.
So, I write stuff sometimes. I'm a
Yes, as many disappointed people have told me, my early stories are mostly hot garbage. Normally, I'd take them down, but it's kind of cool (for me anyway) to be able to look back and see how my writing has improved.
I'm in the process of trying to become a better writer, so if you have even an inkling of constructive criticism, please please please send it my way. I'm serious. I want it more than I want a Red Bull and Vodka after a bad final. Which is quite a lot.
I'm a huge fan of just talking and debating random stuff, so if you feel up for a discussion, just message me! My skype is theb3arjew if you feel so inclined.
Not sure if he'll ever see this, but big shout out to Kenchi618. That dude writes some awesome stories, and seeing how he integrates great fan fiction with awesome pop culture references of varying subtlety makes me strive to become a better writer who can, well, do similar shit. I mean, that motherfucker slipped an 8 Mile reference into a Naruto fic. And it worked. That's fucking ballsy. Plus, it seems like 20-something sport loving dudes are a rarity on this site, and we gotta band together.
SHIT I LIKE:
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Probably the greatest true anime of all time. It's characters vary greatly and yet, somehow, I feel like I can relate to just about all of them. The animation is spot on, and the English dub is absolutely fantastic. If you want to get somebody into anime, this show is step 3 in theb3arjew's Official Get a Friend Hooked on Anime guide. High honors, indeed.
Naruto - It's probably the single most polarizing anime out there, and I happen to be on the "THIS IS FUCKING AWESOME" pole. Which is the right pole to be on, by the way. This show can go from emotional to hilarious to action packed in a heartbeat, and while it has many, many, many flaws, I'll always absolutely love it. Even if I kinda dislike the ending. Without getting too personal, I grew up in a very Naruto-esque fashion, from the loneliness to the constant grinning, and watching him succeed throughout the series really pull on them heart strings.
Avatar: The Last Airbender - Easily my favorite show. The characters are unbeatable, the premise creative and fresh, and the world just invites you to daydream about living there. Yes, it does occasionally remind you that it aired on Nickelodeon, but it still manages to get properly dark and depressing when it needs to be. I've never had a character feel more like a family member than Iroh. That guy's words have gotten me through some tough times, man. Oh, and thanks to the fact that pretty much everybody saw this show as a kid, it proudly fills the step 1 slot in theb3arjew's Official Get a Friend Hooked on Anime.
Red vs. Blue - If you haven't seen this show, go watch it now. It starts out as a comedy with something barely resembling a story, but it fleshes out into some fantastic stories. There's a moment, at the end of the season with the Director and the Chairman, that legitimately still gives me chills, even after the 100th rewatch.
Sword Art Online - Yeah, this show has some major flaws. Kirito and Asuna are two of the least consistently characterized personalities in all of anime, and the genre of the story seems to shift every few episodes. It's fan fiction community is among the worst in existence for some reason. Doesn't matter to me, I still love it. The concept is just so goddamn awesome, and early Kirito is a fantastically mysterious character.
Fairy Tail - This is a weird show for me. There are times when I really don't enjoy it. The fan fiction community is far too into the whole shipping bit, and the fan service gets to me sometimes. But it still manages to keep me hooked. The show just has so many fantastic moments and epic battles, and (I'm currently at episode 130) I can't wait to see the character that Michael Jones (of Rooster Teeth fame) voices. I don't know whether I'll be able to take him seriously (I've seen too many Rage Quits) but I still can't wait.
NBA Basketball - Believe it or not, I'm actually a pretty skilled basketball player, and there's nothing I love more than watching it. Unfortunately, I'm a 76ers fan, so I'm gonna go drink myself into oblivion again.
I like a bunch of other stuff too, and I'll update this once I have the time, but I'm currently procrastinating for studying for a final tomorrow afternoon, so I should probably move on.
"It's time to ask yourself the big questions. Who are you, and what do you want?" - Uncle Iroh
"I don't know how or why or when I ended up in this position I'm in / I'm starting to feel distant again / So I decided to pick this pen / Up and try to make an attempt to vent" - Marshall Mathers
"There's a fine line between not listening and not caring. I like to think that i walk that line every day of my life" - Leonard Church
