![]() Author has written 15 stories for Legend of Zelda, Bleach, Harry Potter, Danny Phantom, Ranma, Dalemark Quartet, Star Wars, Avatar: Last Airbender, Avengers, Inuyasha, and Skulduggery Pleasant series. About me: Name: Amorphous Blue Blob is kind of a tediously long name; I get it. You can call me ABB, or Abby, if you like that better. Age: old enough to use this site; younger than the universe. That means that I'm at least eighteen (2014 created account, so I must have been at least thirteen five years ago. Five plus thirteen equals eighteen). I don't bite anymore, and am generally a much friendlier person online than off. That includes here. Coming soon (by a generous definition of the word; don't hold your breath): guide to reading my stuff. update: no matter what my profile says, this list has remained mostly unedited since May 2016, or so. However... I will finish it... Someday. update2: I added in the last two sections. update3: edited definition of "yaoi"; added "launcher fic" under Overview of Terminology. update4: When will this site let me update my profile? C'mon... update log entry 2: This is going to take me forever, at this rate... --ABB To quickly find a heading, try searching (control- or apple-f) for the bullet point (e.g. II.) I. Table of Contents VI. Stories: I generally never upload a story until it is complete. This shows (working) title, summary, and progress (not begun, in progress, editing, complete, abandoned, throwaway work), and quality of work (normal, compost, garbage), among others. (postponed fics will give you the first chapter, as a placeholder, for fics that probably won't be actually uploaded for years. These are the most likely to be discontinued [discon.]. Read at your own risk. They're there to ensure that this account isn't obscenely and artificially weighted towards HP fanfic.) VII. Let's Talk Grammar Sometimes, there are some common grammar and spelling errors that just rub me the wrong way. Here are some. II. My Stance on Stories, Grammar, Function, Etc. That being said, don't expect writing that looks like I just kind of threw things together without thinking about it, poor grammar and spelling, or an overt apathy to my work. I will usually want to be told if I violate canon (I usually aim to be as canon-compliant as possible), and corrected if you find a spelling or grammar error. Any work with what I consider a major plot hole will go into the compost or garbage heaps. We may (and I reserve the right to) disagree about what constitutes such a plot hole. As you may have noticed, I have no problem whatsoever with the passive voice, and think that it gets an undeserved bad rap. I also frequently interrupt verb constructions with inserted words or clauses. If you object strongly to either or these things, you might be better served reading someone else. I also object to the rejection of the word said. Expect to see this word a lot in my stories. I am easily distracted by people who go to great lengths to avoid the word said. I am not one of those people. I will not ever write yaoi. I will not ever write yuri. I will not write anything with what might be euphemistically referred to as "adult content". I rarely use swear words, and will never use "the eff-word". If my story has a high rating, it is probably for violence or (maybe) slightly "dark" themes. It will never, ever, ever, ever be because of an "adult relationship". (It occurs to me that in the years since I first wrote the previous paragraph, my use of the term "yaoi" changed to mean something less applicable. It's still true that I won't write "yaoi", but now I'm using that term to mean "anything that defies a character's canonical orientation".) In fact, if you're looking for someone in whose works romance features prominently, you are out of luck. Go somewhere else. Romance is, mostly, completely beyond my understanding. I can, occasionally, partially grasp heteroromanticism. I have no interest in writing romance, or rather, what most people would consider romance. I feel that romance often ruins the best stories. I may include what people would probably consider "hints" of a relationship, and there might even, in rare situations, be kissing. I will not take your suggestions for where the plot should go, or who should wind up with whom, unless I explicitly ask. In this case, there will probably be a poll on my profile. Although I will do my best to stay on schedule, I make no guarantees of the timeliness of my updates. However, unless I discontinue something, or abandon it (and I will try my hardest not to do this without warning you at the outset), you can expect me to eventually, even if in a staggered fashion, compensate you with extra chapters until I catch up, or the story finishes. I will try for a realistic goal in updating, but I am one of those writers (although I'm trying to fix this!). Please review if you like a story. While I will update a story regardless of reviews, I will probably give preferential treatment to stories that I know are liked. Please be respectful when giving reviews (to your fellow readers, I mean), and censor any questionable content. Remember that kids also read this site. I reserve the right to delete any offensive comments. Also, please refrain from including spoilers. Thank you. Don't expect to find a populous list of favourite stories at the end of my profile--I may occasionally give you recommendations, but for the most part, I find that people with long lists of favourites (as I almost certainly would have) only frustrate any attempts at utility. Please do not recommend books you think I should read, video games you think I should play, movies you think I should watch, etc.. I have a hard enough time keeping up with my to-dos, and am cautious about recommendations, regardless. My summaries will probably be forcibly minimalistic. Accordingly, reference the terminology, plot, and shipping sections for a better grasp of any story you might be considering. Or take a leap of faith. Mary Sues. Do not call any of my characters Mary Sues. I rarely ever use FCs, but sometimes they are necessary. Understand that the term is thrown around so frequently and liberally that it has become meaningless. If you hate one of my FCs, that's fine, whether or not you can express the reason. Do you think they're unrealistic? Go ahead and say that. Overpowered? Sure. Hate the way others react to them? Go ahead and complain. Hate them because... just because? Fine. But don't take the cheap and easy route of calling them "Mary Sues". I object to that term on a basic level. It doesn't help; it only hurts, and has outlived any utility it might once have had. Do not call any characters Mary Sues. Do not expect me to call any characters Mary Sues. If you catch me doing so, then demand an apology. I will either apologise, or, in the event my account has been compromised, explain this fact to you, and apologise anyway. Clichés are good. I like clichés. I tend to enjoy reading the same basic thing over and over. No, this paragraph is not being sarcastic. I think originality is highly overrated. I enjoy heroic heroes, villainous villains, and predictable, yet still powerful, plot twists. I wonder where they have gone in modern literature, and pine. Give me more infallible heroes and dastardly villains, please! That being said, don't expect to find them in my works. Try as I might, I haven't managed to create either, and existing heroes and villains tend to be drawn away from their extremes in my writing. I am working on it, though. I hate the idea that, because a work was produced in a certain location, it must necessarily follow the rules of that culture. For example, using Japanese honorifics in Legend of Zelda. People naturally work from the basis of their own country, but that doesn't mean that their worlds are natural mirrors of their society. Read the introduction by T. H. White to The Once and Future King for some idea what I'm talking about. And then, preferably, read the book. If you're old enough. Similarly, I resent any stories that make me feel as if I must take a Japanese culture course to understand them. I don't care if you define the terminology you're using; most people who are reading your stories in English read the original in English, too. If the translators didn't do it, you shouldn't either. I aim to make my stories as accessible as possible, and, only when I have no choice in the matter, will include a glossary at the beginning to help you understand key features. Of the twenty plus stories I am working on, this has happened precisely once. That should tell you something. I do not do disclaimers. It is a senseless artificial increase of word count. I avoid author's notes in general. the text of my story should be just that. That being said, there will be some stories where I will be forced to include an author's note to clarify common misconceptions, and others where I relax the no author's notes rule. III. Overview of Terminology What is the compost heap?: like the garbage heap, this story is fundamentally flawed; unlike it, I believe that, in the right hands, these flaws could be redeemed. I just either can't do it, or I don't care enough to make the effort. The quality isn't that much different from the above, though. Expect many of these to be abandoned. You can adopt the fic, as long as you adopt my rules on "bad" language and shipping. Don't even bother asking (although I would like to know that it has been adopted, and would like you to wait until I've posted everything I have written) What is a launcher fic?: a new idea I had over the last two or three years. The idea is that i write a standalone story, and that, from its ending, it can go in a multitude of directions. You can even continue it (I almost certainly won't), as long as you: 1: refer people back to my original story. How else can you expect them to know the background? 2. follow the rules I've laid out here for my own stories (e.g.: no yaoi, no eff-words, no "adult situations"). After all, it can be quite frustrating as a reader to have the rules suddenly changed on you. You don't have to tell me if you continue something, but it would be nice to know. shipping terms: ( is giving me some trouble, here) canon ships: any ships that appear match those of the most recent canon, to the best of my knowledge. Any exceptions will probably be listed in the summary, itself B. Crossover merge-verse: the lesser trod, rare path. The two fandoms are treated as having taken place in the same world all along, and the two worlds are, to varying degrees, "revealed" to one another. Most crossovers on seem to follow this pattern. No abilities will be lost, and some may or may not be gained, as the situation, and as the necessary tweaking for merging worlds, warrant. self-cross(over): not really a crossover. Involves two different alternate universes of the same greater story interacting. IV. Shipping (by media, and then by fandom) C. Movies E. Cartoons 1. Danny Phantom standard ships: Danny xy Valerie V. Tacit Assumptions A. Anime/Manga: 2. Sailor Moon: 3. Inu-Yasha: 4. Ranma 1/2: B. Books: 2. Diadem: Worlds of Magic: 1-5 encompass a number (over 20?) of fanfics, most of which I have almost completely forgotten. These numbers will never be used, in all likelihood. Some elements of some of them have been cannibalised into later fics, particularly #16. (Sylvanus), and #33. (A True Ghost Hunter). Said fics are difficult to place in the numbering system as a result. They are both older than #6. (A Switch in Time), however. As a general rule, the age-by-numbers will be off until around #41., when they start being only sort of off. When I first post a story for reals, I will usually post the first two chapters to start you off, and ever thereafter, a chapter a post. Here's some stuff about whatever I am currently working on (including the back-burner stuff). And other things. [A Higher Authority #2. The Making of the Rivers/The Tale of Cenblith "Wait a minute," you might be thinking. "#2.? Didn't you say up there that you'd never write anything in the first five numbers?" #6. A Switch in Time Bleach severe au. Not a reincarnation fic. A Kaien-Is-Ichigo fic. Back burner. Normal or compost heap quality level. Canonish pairings. In progress. Average chapter length: 2,500 words. #7. Resurrected Bleach mild au. Throwaway fic. The obligatory reincarnation fic that is abruptly dropped around two or three chapter in. I have no intentions of going further, although I reserve the right to. I started the first chapter, lost all I'd written of it when my computer crashed, and have yet to come back to it. Accordingly, back burner. In progress. #8. Like Clockwork Danny Phantom self-cross origins fic. Aims to be normal level. On hold. No ships planned at this point. Not begun. #9. Bleach/Danny Phantom dif-verse crossover fic. Reincarnation lingers in the background, but gets no mention, if you object to that. Back burner. Normal quality level. In progress. Average chapter length: 4,000(?) words. #10. Bleach self-crossover fic. Abandoned. #11. Earth and Sky Teen Titans/Danny Phantom dif-verse crossover fic. I tried dictating the rest of chapter one, and maybe I'll come back to working on it when I find that tape. Set aside for now; aims to be normal quality level. In progress. #12. Danny Phantom severe au. Back burner, normal quality. I lost the work I did on chapter two in a crash, and my notes have all vanished, but I'm willing to start over/continue when I've finished some stuff. What if Valerie had been there instead of Sam, when Danny got his powers? How would that change things? ValeriexDanny, with both as main characters. In other words, pretty standard fare for me. In progress. #13. The Lost Kingdom Danny Phantom fic, which I lost the summary of in a computer crash. Therefore, abandoned. #14. What If I Don't Want to Die? Bleach severe au, that was canon-compliant at its time of inception. Oh, well. Back burner, compost heap quality, reincarnation fic. I don't know, maybe this is a gamer fic. What are those, anyway? In progress. #15. Ranma 1/2/Inu-Yasha dif-verse/merge-verse (?) crossover fic. #16. Sylvanus Ocarina of Time/The Wind Waker fic of ridiculous proportions. I'd always intended for my magnum opus to be an original work, but... #17. Hey, V-Man! Danny Phantom origins fic, aiming to be canon compliant. Not started, quality level probably compost or so. A story of how Vlad, Maddie, and Jack became friends, and how that fell apart. #18. Resurgo! Harry Potter time-travel fic. Abandoned. #19. Order of Merlin Danny Phantom/Harry Potter merge-verse crossover fic. Not started yet. Probably normal quality. Standard ships. Filters: Adventure, General?; Harry P., Sirius B., [Danny F., Valerie G.] ; T #20. crossover between bookverse and cartoon-verse W.I.T.C.H.. Abandoned. It would have been rubbish-heap anyway. It's actually probably one of the pre-numbers. #21. Circle of Magic/Harry Potter dif-verse crossover fic. Probably starts at the end of Book 4 of Harry Potter (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), and the end of Book 5 of Circle of Magic (The Prisoners of Bell Tower). Not started, probably normal to high quality. #22. Shannara Diadem fic. Discontinued. It would've been horrible, anyway. #24. Skulduggery Pleasant/Diadem dif-verse crossover fic. On hold until I've finished some 'fics. Then, who knows? #25. Threeway crossover of the three Sabrina television series I know of. Abandoned. You're welcome. #26. Val Skulduggery Pleasant/Danny Phantom mergeverse crossover. Back burner, normal or compost heap quality level. Standard ships. Not started, still planning. #27. Meeting My Cousin's Boyfriend Sailor Moon/Inu-Yasha merge-verse crossover fic. On hold for now. One-shot, don't ask for an extension. Started. #28. The Ranma 1/2/Sailor Moon merge-verse crossover that I said I'd never write. Compost heap quality. On hold for the moment. In progress. #29. I have weird dreams. Sometimes, it seems like a good idea to turn them into stories. Oftentimes, I later change my mind. That's the case here. It was a Harry Potter cliché fic, anyway. Discon.. #30. The Power He Knows (working title!) Harry Potter cliché fic. Severe au. Currently back burner, normal quality. Horcrux-Harry fic. Self-explanatory. In progress. Currently on chapter eight. A rare Dark Fic, which I started writing in late 2016, for some reason... Average chapter length: 3,500 words. Upon further reflection, either it's too "dark" for a T rating, or I've failed as a writer. #31. Harryzar Potterin Another Harry Potter cliché fic. You can tell the numbers aren't accurate because these are all in the same place, right? Time travel and reincarnation fic. Currently back burnerish, normal quality. In progress. Current chapter: seventeen. A Harry Potter is Salazar Slytherin fic, of course. Average chapter length: 4,500 words. #32. A weird fic born of my watching too much Sabrina; the Animated Series. A Sabrina: The Animated Series/Danny Phantom merge-verse crossover fic, not to be taken too seriously. Compost heap level, probably. On hold. Not started yet. #33. A True Ghost Hunter The second fic to cannibalise parts of older fics. A Danny Phantom/Ocarina of Time only (not even any Majora's Mask) dif-verse crossover fic. Danny's parents have another friend they'd never mentioned before--a former guard at Hyrule Castle. Remember that guy who sells ghosts by the drawbridge? Well, he just signed Link up for a trip into the unknown. #34. What is wrong with me? No. I'm not telling you about this one. ... Until I start writing it. It's back burnerish, which is bad enough. Probably normal quality level, too. Not begun. Filters: Spiritual?, Action, Friendship; Matt T., Fen B., Thor?, ???; rate=? #35. Not begun. I'm not telling you anything about this one, either. As long as I don't, I have plausible deniability that I've ever even watched-- #36. Rapunzel A Tangled origin fic that I might or might not write. It's on the list, regardless, because these numbers here were a compilation of all the stories I'd been considering writing. Which I might never actually do. Not begun. #37. Royal Madness Threads of Fate fic, aiming for canon compliance, according to Mint's side of the story. Not a novelisation. On hold, for the moment. Probably normal to compost quality. Not begun. #38. The reason that Mystic Quest Legends is on the list. This one actually probably belongs above even Sylvanus, because I'm pretty sure that it's one of those fics I mentioned way above, the ones that are encapsulated by the first five numbers. Yeah. Abandoned. #39. Farewell to Animorphs! #40. London Derrière A Ranma 1/2/Danny Phantom parody fic. Warning: parody fics are liable to break any and all of my normal rules without warning. Back burner, garbage heap quality. In progress. #41. In the Beginning/The End of the World A Harry Potter/Avatar: the Last Airbender merge-verse fic. Compost or garbage heap level quality, because I can't be bothered. One-shot. I will not write a sequel. I will not continue. If you want to, knock yourself out. This is the only fic I will ever write for Avatar: The Last Airbender, or Legend of Korra. Don't ask. AU for both series. COMPLETE. #42. Deus Fratri Sui Salutem Dicit! A Harry Potter one-shot that aims to be canon compliant. COMPLETE. I will not update this, nor write a sequel. Please, don't ask. Filters: Family; Remus L., K #43. A Sailor Moon fic I've been turning over. Not started. On hold, probably compost heap quality. That's all you get, for now. #44. Toilet Horror (working title!) Legend of Zelda launcher fic. Yes, "launcher fic" is a new term. It's on the front burner, last chapter (chapter 15). Compost heap level quality at worst. Complete. No average chapter length. #45. Reign Over the Frozen Heavens How is this not a common thing? I looked before I started the story, two years ago, or whatever. A Danny-is-Captain-Hitsugaya reincarnation fic, au on the Bleach side, even more au on the Danny Phantom one. Filters: Adventure?; [T. Hitsugaya, Valerie G., Danny F.] ; T (for Bleach) #46. see #35. It's of the same story, only not a crossover. So, it's of one of the same stories. Launcher fic. Back burnerish. Not started. #47. The Long, Harsh Road ... #48. One of those ones that belongs way up higher. Well, not maybe way up higher. A Danny Phantom inside-the-mind cliché fic that I may, or may not, ever write. Not started. Filters: General?; [Danny F., Valerie G.] , Sam M.; K/K? #49. Maybe It Would've Happened Anyway A Percy Jackson & the Olympians/Harry Potter merge-verse. Severe au in both cases, but not as au as it initially appears. Compost or normal quality. Front burner. Not started. Based on a dream. Fair warning. #50. More of a thought experiment than anything else, and will probably never be written. A Dalemark Quartet/Harry Potter dif-verse crossover. Not begun. #51. Master and King A Harry Potter/Bleach dif-verse crossover fic. Pretty self-explanatory. Three-way reincarnation fic. On hold, for now. Probably normal quality. Not begun. #52. A Chronicles of Chrestomanci self-crossover. Christopher climbs over the top of the world, and finds himself somewhere very strange--in the castle of a different Chrestomanci than the one he knows. Can he even get home? #53. Hogwarts's Awful #54. How to Get Yourself Exiled --I now see why people complain about , and linebreaks, which is what this is-- There is also Through the Looking Glass, which is not a story per se... Harry Potter character analysis, by way of narrative. VII. Let's Talk Grammar The classicist in me dies a little whenever I see: per say: (what would this even mean? In English, "per" is usually used to mean "for every". What does "for every say" mean? That's not even grammatical...) It's "per se", people. Have mercy on me. defiant/defiantly: Defiant is related to the word "defy". It's behaving...let's say, in a rebellious matter. "Definitely", and "definite" are related to the word "definition". If you want to know, they come of the Latin de, meaning "down around", and finis, meaning "limit". Definitions set limits down around the meanings of words. orientate/orientating/disorientate/disorientating: I don't care if Webster's has them in the dictionary. It has "irregardless", too. That doesn't make it a word (don't look at me that way, linguists!). The proper words are orient/orienting/disorient/disorienting. Those are shorter, too. Everyone wins! I'm very passionate about Latin and Ancient Greek. I probably should have warned you earlier. Ahem. That being said, I also find "woah" insufferable. doesn't flag it, but "woah" is not a word. Or at least, not an English word. At all. You're looking for "whoa". |
