I am a (now former) student who discovered fanfictions by chance and, after reading at least a couple hundred of them, has now decided to write as well. Though French is my native language, I mostly read in English. Therefore, most of my stories will probably be written in English. Somehow, words and expressions come more spontaneously in English... o0oOo0o Something I found recently: I promise to remember Harry When someone grows up with no love I promise to remember Ron When someone is jealous I promise to remember Hermione When I meet someone with wisdom beyond their years I promise to remember James and Lily when someone dies before their time I promise to remember Dumbledore At the thought of the greater good I promise to "Solemnly Swear That I Am Up To No Good" for Gred, Forge, and Padfoot of course I promise to remember Moony And fight for human rights I promise to remember Snape When My heart fills with remorse I promise to remember Narcissa When I'd do anything for family I promise to remember Dora Tonks When someone is hyper I promise to remember Hedwig, who lived and died soaring I promise to remember Percy When ambition gets the best of me I promise to be careful For Moody's sake, of course I promise to remember Hagrid When one is wrongly blamed I promise to remember Neville when I stand up for what is right I promise to remember the Marauders When a friend says "Call me and I'll be there." A few quotes about fanfiction : ''[Fanfiction] is a sign that the characters have life beyond the confines of the page, which is pretty much the holy grail for any author. More power to your pens!" Jonathan Stroud. “Fanfiction is what literature might look like if it were reinvented from scratch after a nuclear apocalypse by a band of brilliant pop-culture junkies trapped in a sealed bunker. They don't do it for money. That's not what it's about. The writers write it and put it up online just for the satisfaction. They're fans, but they're not silent, couchbound consumers of media. The culture talks to them, and they talk back to the culture in its own language.'' Lev Grossman “I adore the way fan fiction writers engage with and critique source texts, by manipulating them and breaking their rules. Some of it is straight-up homage, but a lot of [fan fiction] is really aggressive towards the source text. One tends to think of it as written by total fanboys and fangirls as a kind of worshipful act, but a lot of times you’ll read these stories and it’ll be like ‘What if Star Trek had an openly gay character on the bridge?’ And of course the point is that they don’t, and they wouldn’t, because they don’t have the balls, or they are beholden to their advertisers, or whatever. There’s a powerful critique, almost punk-like anger, being expressed there—which I find fascinating and interesting and cool.” Lev Grossman “There's a time and place for everything, and I believe it’s called 'fan fiction'.” Joss Whedon |
