Nota Bene: On characters in my stories:
Finrod- Eldest son of Finarfin, king of Nargothrond and friend of elves (all races), dwarves and men. Tolkien tells us that he not only planned and organized the building of Nargothrond but actually did a fair bit of the work himself. He is a Renaissance elf...architect, stone-worker, diplomat, explorer, linguist, philosopher, harpist, king and generally all-around friendly neighborhood Noldo.
Legolas: Tolkien gives an age for every member of the fellowship but Legolas, however, he gives ages for complete non-players in the story. So either he really didn't care about Legolas' age or he was born before the Third Age. I have chosen to go with the second option, therefore in my fics Legolas was alive and well during the Last Alliance but had been left behind to rule in the absence of his father and grandfather. This leaves the canon intact since he would still be fairly young by the standards of the First Age Elves (and Tolkien never specifically says that he is young...people just assume that because he is lighthearted and merry) and has never actually been to Mordor which is indirectly stated in the books. I am in favor of him being close friends with Aragorn due to some hints Tolkien dropped, but not the run of the mill run-around-Middle-Earth-getting-captured-and-injured-together stuff.
Erynel: (OC, Legolas' younger sister) Tolkien tells us that Thranduil is Legolas' father and leaves it at that. From the descriptions of both elves it is safe to assume they had a loving relationship. When he describes the meeting of Thranduil and Celeborn at Dol Guldur there is no mention of any family (if there were brothers I think they would be mentioned as fighting). Therefore since it is less likely that a sister would be mentioned during a battle I have created Erynel (Star of the Forest in keeping with the tradition of Greenleaf). She appears in several stories but in the rest I have just left it at Legolas being an only child. I have assumed that the Queen like Celebrain has sailed.
- Lewis -
Peter (Lawrence): Strong, more talkative than Edmund. He is courageous and eventually earns the title Magnificent. He is protective of his siblings but not smothering, they are king and queens in their own right and quite capable of taking care of themselves. Hazel eyes. Banner - Golden Gryphon on red.
Susan (Clare): Tall and graceful, she has long, dark hair that reaches to her ankles. Called the Gentle for her mercy and compassion but she is not weak or timid in the least. Learns to be slightly less "sensible" as the years pass. She is not vain (as a queen of Narnia.) She has deep-brown eyes. Banner - Silver lily on purple
Edmund (David): I write book verse so Edmund and Peter are both fair-haired. Edmund is not plagued by constant guilt, once Aslan forgives him he starts out with a clean slate, though his lesson teaches him to be Just. Grey-eyed. Banner - Sceptered Phoenix (Gold) on black.
Lucy (Catrina): Pure-hearted and free-spirited, she is a merry and laughing queen but fearless and fair. Her gallantry gives her the name Valiant, like Susan she is very beautiful, golden-haired and grey-eyed like Edmund. Banner - Flaming Heart (red) on gold.
The middle names are of course my own invention as are the symbols
Anyone who really wishes to is welcome to borrow my OCs as long as they stay in character (ie. Erynel cannot randomly fall in love with Gloin...etc. no sudden revelations that Gimli is actually Legolas' nephew (shudders)) and you ask me first.
Note Bene II - I write book canon for both Lewis and Tolkien, Lewis' timeline, however has been scrapped. Sorry, Clive Staples but I was never convinced that the Golden AGE was a mere 15 years long.
