![]() Author has written 8 stories for Aliens/Predator, Mass Effect, Babylon 5, and World of Tanks. Hello, and welcome. First of all, thank you for taking an interest in my stories. A brief overview: Apart from several short (one-chapter) stories I'm working primarily on my Mass Effect /Alien Predator cross-over. The cross-over is based primarily on the Mass Effect canon universe. However, the Mass Effect version of humanity has been replaced by that of the Alien Predator franchise, somewhere after the events of Alien3 (with some elements of Starship Troopers, the movie, thrown in). I have stitched the two universes together like this: After the events of Alien 3, humanity witnessed a relatively bloodless revolution in which power was removed from the Corporations and returned to a Central Government. Meanwhile, using the Spacejockey's ship as a template, they discovered element zero, improving the speed of their ships, which allowed them to expand more rapidly, eventually discovering the mass relays. This, in turn, led to the settlement of Shanxi, the first garden world colony. By and large, the events of Alien, Aliens and Alien 3 can be considered canon to my universe, so can Predator and Predator 2. Deliberately excluded from canon are: Alien Resurrection (which would be still in the future, but will now never happen) and Prometheus & Covenant (I have my own backstory idea, which will eventually be revealed). As for the AvP movies, yeah... If you want you can consider them canon, it doesn't get in the way, but those events will never be brought up by any character in my stories. So far it contains five stories. In chronological order: Someone has heard them scream. A self-contained story that follows a three-way first contact between humanity, the Mass Effect species, and the xenomorph. This story only covers a few days in-universe time. It is primarily a horror story, somewhat in the style of the original Alien movie. It also deals at some length with the massive communications problems that would occur in a real first-contact. Someone had blundered: The story of the turian/human First Contact War from the botched first contact until the signing of a peace-treaty. I used this particular story to attempt to find a way to fill the plotholes and the many illogical decisions that plague the canon version of the FCW. Chronologically this starts before the events of Someone has heard them scream and continues on afterwards. In Torfan, no-one cares if you scream: A retelling of the human attack on Torfan (a canon ME event), viewed purely from the perspective of non-human observers. Takes place about twenty years after the end of Someone had blundered. This story sets the stage for a sequel and introduces Commander Shepard. Soon, everyone will hear the screams: The United Systems have discovered a prothean beacon on Eden Prime and have agreed to share the discovery with the Citadel Council. Commander Shepard is tasked with security for the transport. Intelligence reports: A companion piece to the other stories that I use for various infodumps that would slow down the story otherwise, disguised as in-universe documents. Also, a form of personal amusement, because it allows me to show humans from an alien viewpoint (and the other way round). In general, I have tried to keep canon ME characters the way they are. For the Alien/Predator universe, this is far more difficult, because such characters typically don't survive. Instead, I've chosen to pick minor characters from various movies and books in that franchise that are not canon to my universe and put them into roles that seemed appropriate, irrespective of whether they fit chronologically. E.g. Vickers, from Prometheus, appears in several stories as a representative of Weyland Yutani. General Perez from Alien Resurrection in the same rank as in the movie (but not trying to breed xenomorphs, because my version of him actually has a brain). General Spears from the book Aliens: Nightmare Asylum by Steve Perry, as the United Systems Military Chief of Staff. I also occasionally use expy's from other franchises, either because I happen to like the character, or because I'm too lazy to come up with a new name. I'm limiting these to very minor roles. Examples: Jankowski from Babylon 5, again messing up a first contact. Farnsworth and Sosa from Wingcommander as two USM officers. Sergeant Zim from Starship troopers (the book character, not the Clancy Brown role) as a marine NCO. |
