A string of murders have been identified by Saito as the product of Hiten Mitsurugi ryu. There are two suspects: Himura Kenshin and his master Hiko Seijuro the Thirteenth. Unbeknownst to them, a third user of their exalted style has time travelled to the future: Hiko Seijuro the Twelfth.

Kenshin finds himself stuck with a homeless young woman after she follows him through town. The more he learns about her, the more he realizes that she is unusually foreign and yet familiar in a world now ruled by demons. Will he be able to accept what he has hated since childhood, or will he continue the cycle of hatred?

Why is Kaoru more nervous than the average bride?

When Kenshin is confronted with a stranger from the distant past, it leads further down the rabbit hole than he imagined; it's a good thing that Kaoru would never let him face it alone. "... I'd know you anywhere… Shinta."

There was a stranger seated comfortably beside her... a stranger who had not been in her car a minute ago. He was looking at her with unrepressed amusement dancing in his eyes, and the junctions of his lips curled upward in what appeared to be genuine delight. This was not her night... Enishi’s been defeated, life is peaceful, and finally Kenshin can begin his new life as a settled man. At least, that’s the theory. In reality, he’s finding that starting this new life is more difficult than he expected.

AU. In the eleventh year of the Meiji, 1878, Japan still practices chattel slavery. The Tokugawa shogunate still reigns from Edo castle, backed by the infamous Kanryu family and their merchant empire. And Kaoru Kamiya finds an abandoned slave hiding under the docks as she's walking home...

They become violent because they need to. They come running at death because we have made death their companion. What has been learned cannot be unlearned easily. So, children of war continue to make war. You can’t let go of the sword, can you?

Sequel to Encounters; BK Darkfic. When Kaoru finds herself backed into a corner she discovers Kenshin will stop at nothing to eliminate the threat, even if the threat is himself. But Kaoru's not one to stand by and play the victim, and will do whatever it takes to get him back.

One-shot. An old enemy of Kenshin's from his days as a rurouni has finally tracked him down to extract revenge, but first he needs leverage to bring the red haired demon to his knees. "You're after Kenshin…" Kaoru's eyes widened in revelation before they became ablaze and her brows narrowed in exasperation. "…and you're… kidnapping me to get him…" Really? This has to be a bad joke!
