My entry into the world of fanfiction began with my grandmother. As a child, she and I would come up with stories before bedtime. When Titanic came out, she told me the child version of the story. When she reached the part about Jack's death, I looked at her and said, "No. That's not how it ended" and proceeded to tell her my version of the story where Jack and Rose get saved in time, live on to get married, and Cal commits suicide out of guilt.

From then on, we would imagine various alternatives to our favorite stories--especially Harry Potter. Before a book would come out, we'd imagine how it would go and write our own version. Gramma helped my brother and me envision ourselves at Hogwarts with our own little dramas. I've enjoyed my ride with fanfiction so far and I'm excited to see where it will go!
