I am a stay at home mom with three children. I found this site about five years ago during a tumultuous time in my life. My husband had been diagnosed with a serious illness...So as he fought and I supported him, I found that I needed an escape. Most oftentimes I could settle in with a good book and feel better. But I found that I needed something more!! My escape began with the 1995 Pride and Prejudice series featuring Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth. I was so enamored that I began looking for more of Darcy and Elizabeth. And what better place than the internet! I found fanfiction plus other sites and began to read. I scoured the internet for more! I bought books from all kinds of stores. I even searched through my local library. It's five years later...and I am still reading!I am amazed at all of the authors, their ideas and stories. I find it all so very fascinating! My husband is now almost fully recovered and I am entering a new phase in my life as I near the age of fifty. What better time to branch out and try new things! So I began to write! Some of my stories are longer than others but an idea would catch me ...and I couldn't get away from it until I wrote out an outline, then some of the dialogue and then all of it that goes around it. I began to fill notebooks with my thoughts. Then I typed away on my computer until I needed a flash drive to hold it all. Overall, it has been a very exciting experience! I do not have much writing experience beyond the writings and papers that I did in college but I am trying...and though my stories may be rough...I am finding great fulfillment. I love the characters of PP but find myself especially drawn to Mary and Colonel Fitzwilliam. I find myself not unlike the shy girl with glasses that found her nose buried in a book rather than socialize with people. And if I were Mary, I would find myself drawn to the witty and social character of the Colonel for I believe he would set me at ease and drag out the best in me. (MarylovesColonelFitzwilliam) |
