Author has written 21 stories for Harry Potter, Pokémon, and Star Wars.
"People very often say to me, 'How did you do it, how did you raise a baby and write a book?' And the answer is - I didn't do housework for four years. I am not Superwoman. And um, living in squalor, that was the answer." - J. K. Rowling
If you enjoy reading one of my stories or a new chapter of one, please leave a review. Writing takes time, so please show your appreciation for that with a short review. It's the only wage that fic authors get for all their hard work! :) I respond to fanfiction dot net members' reviews usually by private message, and non-member (guest) reviews may sometimes get a response written as a new review, or in an author note at the end of a new chapter.
Recent News & Updates
25/4/18 - Posting Update. OMG I'm so sorry! It's a day late, but chapter 3 of "Ouroboros" is now up. My apologies - I got distracted by Anzac Day preparations and celebrations, and posting a new chapter of my fic just slipped my mind.
18/4/18 - Writing & Posting Update. Chapter 11 of "Extraordinary Summer" (Perfectly Normal #5) is now done. Another 9K finished. :) "Ouroboros" chapter 2 is up - the third chapter will be posted on Tuesday 24th April, around 8-10am. That's Monday night, 23rd April, around 6-8pm EST for those of you in America.
10/4/18 - New Story. "Ouroboros" chapter 1 is up today! It is a medium-sized story of 13K words, and I will be uploading a new chapter every Tuesday morning (Australian time, so that's Monday night for many of you) until all five chapters are up. It's a Harry & Voldemort friendship fic covering the pre-Hogwarts years.
8/4/18 - Writing Update. My hand and wrist are now mostly recovered after a full month of rest, so I'm back to writing again! I've just wrapped up the final chapter of a new Harry Potter fic "Ouroboros" which I'll be editing and posting within the next day or two. I'll be trying to get back into the swing of regular writing again, but probably in small doses so I don't overtax or strain the muscles in my hand (which alas I think have literally atrophied somewhat over the past five or six weeks). I'm still neglecting the vast bulk of reviews and responding to very few of them thus far, but please know I'm reading and appreciating all of them.
2/4/18 - Award Finalist. My fic "Hermione Granger, Demonologist" is a finalist in the 2018 Enchanted Awards in the "Creative Genius" section. If you've read my story and you're a fan, please consider stopping by to vote for me! Voting is open until April 7th, 2018. Click on the first category in the link below (remove all asterisks):
There's a lot of great Hermione-centric Harry Potter stories in the finals! If you'd like to peek at the full list to make an informed vote (or just read some good fics!), note you can vote for two stories per section. You can find the full list below (remove all asterisks):
17/3/18 - OUCH. Currently suffering from some kind of RSI or Carpal Tunnel Syndrome issue for the past week, with terrible pain in my right hand. Every word foolishly written is paid for with a price of pain. So alas I'm trying very hard not to do any writing, or indeed practically anything else, with my right hand. Unfortunately that means at the moment reviews are going unanswered, and my writing isn't progressing (apart from a few emergency notes dictated to Siri on my phone so I don't forget my ideas). Bear with me please. I'm still reading and loving reviews, I'm just not replying to them. Think happy thoughts for swift healing! Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go get an ice pack again.
7/3/18 - Writing Update. Chapter 10 of "Extraordinary Summer" (Perfectly Normal #5) is now done. Another 9-10K added to the total. :) You all like long fics, right? Right??
I've made a little community, "Harry Potter for Kids" (and for adults interested in good HP fics with low levels of violence/romance/bad language), which I will slowly add new fics to as I have a chance to review them. Feel free to subscribe if it sounds like your cup of tea. I've recently brought on an extra person as a staff member for the group, so new fics should be added more regularly from now on.
I've started a blog over on my author account at "Goodreads". I'll re-post my "News and Updates" from this profile over on that account, so if you'd like to subscribe there to receive story & writing updates you're welcome to. Note - it's not a story-hosting site, it's a story *reviewing* website.
This is my long series - currently four fics long with an unposted fifth in progress. You can see the little rainbow image making it easier for you to spot these fics in my list of works.
Series summary: Harry just wants a quiet life. He wants to be ordinary, unremarkable, and get along with everyone. Being "normal" for the Dursleys yielded great results in improving his standard of living, and as he heads off to Hogwarts he still retains that impulse to blend in. Of course, life isn't as simple as that, and Harry is a magnet for trouble, it seems! Give this series a try if you love seeing the pure-blood wizarding culture more fully fleshed out, slow realistic character development, and some unique twists on the canonical story starting with a more realistic reaction to neglectful child abuse than you often see.
This series is on hold while I do more writing, and will return later in 2018 with "Extraordinary Summer", which will cover Harry's summer before fourth year. Note that I prefer not to begin posting stories until they're complete, or nearly so.

You Need More Fics?
Some additional fics are available only on my AO3 account for older readers (same username - BrilliantLady). No fics with a rating higher than "T" will be hosted on fanfiction dot net.
I currently read primarily Harry Potter fics (including crossovers), Sherlock, Big Bang Theory, and Pride and Prejudice fics. I occasionally enjoy Smallville, Buffy TVS, Hulk, Avengers, Walking Dead and Narnia fics. I also like Stargate and Supernatural crossovers with my other fandoms, even though I don't watch those shows! :) You may see little nods to some of my favourite books and shows in my fics. So far the majority of my published fics are Harry Potter fics, with one Harry Potter/Pokemon crossover fic, a Star Wars fic, and a Big Bang Theory fic that's hosted on AO3 only.
Some of my favourite books include: "The Gumshoe, The Witch and the Virtual Corpse" by Keith Hartman, "Prince of the Godborn" by Geraldine Harris, "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen, "The Dark is Rising" by Susan Cooper, "Princess of Wands" by John Ringo, and "The Land Behind the World" by Anne Spencer Parry.
I can also be found on AO3 with the same pen name.
