![]() Author has written 30 stories for Harry Potter, Pokémon, Star Wars, Sherlock, Lucifer, Assassin's Creed, and ManHua/Chinese Comics/漫画. Welcome! "People very often say to me, 'How did you do it, how did you raise a baby and write a book?' And the answer is - I didn't do housework for four years. I am not Superwoman. And um, living in squalor, that was the answer." - J. K. Rowling If you enjoy reading one of my stories or a new chapter of one, it would be most appreciated if you'd leave a little review in thanks! Short, long, constructively critical, rambling, or excitedly incoherent - all reviews are welcome. :) I try to logged-in fanfiction dot net members' reviews by private message, but I've felt a bit overwhelmed lately so please don't be offended if I don't reply - let me know if you're particularly keen to get a response. Non-member (guest) reviews may sometimes get a response in an author's note at the end of a new chapter if there's a specific question that it seems important to respond to. Recent News & Updates 19/9/23 - New fic! Here it is, the first chapter (of seven in total) of "Tale Within a Tale", my new SVSSS fic. Now I'll be returning to working on my HP fics. :) Updates weekly. 15/9/23 - New fic coming. I have completed a new fic for my newest fandom, "The Scum Villain's Self-Saving System", which will be posted a chapter at a time starting on Tuesday morning (AEST). Work on finishing up my Dramione WIP has resumed, and I'm also continuing planning out the next Perfectly Normal fic. 28/8/23 - Still alive. Just letting you know I'm still around, still alas permanently crippled by the condition below (as per my last update) but MUCH recovered and able to do most things again (just not extended time on the computer or heavy lifting or gym etc). I've been trying to resume my writing habit, and have been inspired by writing a "Scum Villain's Self-Saving System" fic that I hope people will enjoy once I finish and publish it. P.S. - fanfiction dot net stopped sending me email notifications about new reviews at the end of 2022, for no obvious reason. I'm working on figuring out how to fix that. Apologies for the many readers who never got replies, whose reviews sadly went unread this year (2023). 15/4/22 - Uh oh. Sorry guys, back to back Nanowrimo writing binges took their toll on my body, and I've been recovering from severe tennis elbow as a result of too much computer use. It's been almost 2 months with minimal computer use (we're talking 5-10 min a day and that causes me pain - I'm currently wearing an arm brace still and on a painkiller), so writing is all stalled for now (as are almost all activities that require arm use). Please understand I'm very unlikely to respond to any reviews, and have no ETAs on finishing any fics as I'll have to limit writing for the foreseeable future. (If I don't I'm looking at a potentially permanent injury, so be patient with me.) 22/2/22 - Writing Update. Happy twos-day! Work continues on my epic-length 6th year Dramione. I've been working on this fic pretty much every day for almost four months now. It's around 150K words at the moment, and I estimate there's two chapters left to write, then I can start editing then *posting*! 25/12/21 - New Story. Merry Christmas! I decided to tidy up a little WIP that was pretty much ready to post. Please enjoy "Blue and Gold", a short Sherlock/Assassin's Creed crossover fic. 16/12/21 - Writing Update. Nanowrimo was successfully completed with 53K added to my new Dramione fic, and I've powered on through December and have added another 23K so far. It's a long one, folks! 80K total and counting. Draco-centric, lots of plot, a dash of romance, and slow-building enemies-to-friends. Sound good to you? 5/11/21 - Writing update. It's Nanowrimo time! This year I'm working on adding more to what's shaping up to be a long, slow-burn Dramione fic set in 6th year. Who loves Dramione? Let me know if there's a favourite trope or idea you'd like to see included in this fic. 7K words added to my fic so far this month, which is a lot if you're writing a uni assignment, but a drop in the bucket of a long fanfic. I'm staring at my draft, thinking, "Oh my god. This is going to have to be novel-length to fit everything in. My OTP haven't even spoken nicely to each other yet." But I'm going to keep going, so wish me luck! 25/9/21 - Podfic. Sephonered has, with my permission, made a podfic version of "Hermione Granger, Demonologist". Check it out on AO3 if you're curious! :) 25/6/21 - Final chapter. "Unprecedented Competition" is now up in its entirety. If you've been waiting for the final chapter to go up before you start reading, now's the time! There will be one final fic in the "Perfectly Normal" series, but expect a looong break before it goes up. Subscribe to "Have you Forgotten What Happened in This Series" or to me as an author to be sure to be alerted when it is eventually written and complete and starts being posted. Notes My Community I've made a little community, "Harry Potter for Kids" (and for adults interested in good HP fics with low levels of violence/romance/bad language), which I will slowly add new fics to as I have a chance to review them. Feel free to subscribe if it sounds like your cup of tea. I've recently brought on an extra person as a staff member for the group, so new fics should be added more regularly from now on. Blog I've started a blog over on my author account at "Goodreads". I'll re-post my "News and Updates" from this profile over on that account, so if you'd like to subscribe there to receive story & writing updates you're welcome to. Note - it's not a story-hosting site, it's a story *reviewing* website. Perfectly Normal This is my long series - it is five fics long and the sixth in the series is an incomplete and unpublished draft - this series is ongoing. When browsing my list of works keep an eye out for the little rainbow snake image making it easier for you to spot the fics in this series. There is also an additional work summarising the first four fics in the series, as an aid for readers who'd like to refresh their memories on the details; subscribe to this if you want to be alerted to when the next fic in the series goes up. Series summary: Harry just wants a quiet life. He wants to be ordinary, unremarkable, and get along with everyone. Being "normal" for the Dursleys yielded great results in improving his standard of living, and as he heads off to Hogwarts he still retains that impulse to blend in. Of course, life isn't as simple as that, and Harry is a magnet for trouble, it seems! Give this series a try if you love seeing the pure-blood wizarding culture more fully fleshed out, slow realistic character development, and some unique twists on the canonical story starting with a more realistic reaction to neglectful child abuse than you often see. Images for "Perfectly Normal" It's not necessary to enjoy my series, but if you'd like to see some visuals of things referenced in my fics, visit my page at: http [colon slash slash] members [dot] optusnet [dot] com [dot] au [slash] ~pelari [slash] potter [dot] htm You Need More Fics? Some additional fics are available only on my AO3 account for older readers (same username - BrilliantLady). No fics with a rating higher than "T" will be hosted on fanfiction dot net. About Me I currently read primarily Harry Potter fics (including crossovers), Sherlock, Lucifer, Big Bang Theory, and Pride and Prejudice fics. I occasionally enjoy Smallville, Star Trek, and Avengers/MCU fics. I also like Stargate and Supernatural crossovers with my other fandoms, even though I don't watch those shows! :) You may see little nods to some of my favourite books and shows in my fics. I write primarily Harry Potter fics, with a smattering of other fandoms including Pokemon, Star Wars, Big Bang Theory, Marvel/Avengers, Smallville, and Sherlock. Some of my favourite books include: "The Gumshoe, The Witch and the Virtual Corpse" by Keith Hartman, "Prince of the Godborn" by Geraldine Harris, "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen, "The Dark is Rising" by Susan Cooper, "Princess of Wands" by John Ringo, and "The Land Behind the World" by Anne Spencer Parry. I can also be found on AO3 with the same pen name. |
