Author has written 6 stories for Inheritance Cycle.

If you have begun to read The Cycle Continues, you might have learned something about how that came to be from my introductory Author's Note. I've never considered myself a writer. The most consistent writing I have done over the years, aside from critical writing assignments in college, has been in my many journals. So I suppose I have my dozens of diaries to thank for my monumental creative effort. :)

I'm a thirty-eight-year-old female living in the United States. I've always loved reading and fantasy has always been one of my favorite genres, but I have never had the experience of writing a 600,000 word book in response to finishing any other fantasy series. :)

My first story enthralled most of my attention for the better part of six months. I first read the Inheritance Cycle at the beginning of January 2015. Thursday, January 22, 2015 was the fateful day I decided to start writing out some of my fantasies. I stayed up until 5:00 am that night. :) I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that my efforts were completely obsessive. I finished my first draft (535,000 words/930 single-spaced pages in Word) 84 days (12 weeks) later on April 15, 2015. I thought it was done, but my best friend—who kindly agreed to read my story for me—gave me some excellent feedback and I got back to work to further develop the main conflict. I finished that rewrite and revision on July 20, 2015 and finished posting Part Four of my story on July 25, 2015. Now I can say I finished my story in six months!

Not long after "finishing" The Cycle Continues, a reader asked if I'd ever thought about writing a story involving the Riders' children. I hadn't, but the suggestion was all it took for me to start thinking about it, and I began writing Next Generation in August 2015. Now, nearly four years later, that story is also complete and will shortly be posted in its entirety to this site. And then I will take a break from writing anything until further notice.

Thanks so much for reading! I hope you all continue to enjoy my stories (if you even enjoyed them to begin with :).

Much love,

Autumn :)

P.S. A word (or several :) on my OOC characters. Many readers have commented that my portrayal of Eragon and Arya is dreadfully OOC, and I completely respect that opinion. But I do want to try to give you an idea of where I am coming from. If you are a younger person and have never before experienced falling in love, suffering for any length of time with a chronic illness, becoming a parent, or losing a close loved one to death, let me assure as one who has been through three of those life events that all four of them probably fall within the top five life-changing experiences a person can have. In other words, going through those experiences has the most potential to fundamentally change the person we are. In my story, Eragon and Arya have each been suffering with physical pain for ten years. That's a long time. I know some of my readers have been as young as 14, so think about a span of time longer than half of your entire lifetime and imagine suffering for all of it. People become desperate for relief, as Eragon and Arya do. In fact, E & A go through all four of those events or processes throughout my story, which makes all of the changes they also undergo completely realistic in my mind.

I appreciate those who have challenged my depiction of these two characters, for it led me to add some material to the story (most significantly in chapters 1 and 4, though to lesser degrees all throughout Part One). These additions do nothing to change the timeline or overall outcomes of my story, they simply attempt to portray the thought processes I believe Arya might have gone through when deciding to return to Eragon, as well as how both of them might have reacted upon reuniting. Beyond this, I will not be further altering how I represent Eragon and Arya. If you strongly object, I heartily support your choice not to read my story or to stop reading if you have begun. I'd rather you do that than continue on and feel even greater disgruntlement.

And I should also mention that my religious beliefs heavily influence certain parts of my writing (most particularly the last few chapters of Parts Three and Four), so if you think you might be irritated reading about Christian spiritual beliefs, either don't read my book or heed the warnings within the story meant to alert readers to those sections. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and we hold some unique beliefs compared to other Christian sects, so even if you are also Christian, you may be surprised by the way I describe certain events in the story. This also comes to play a significant role in Eragon and Arya's development, though I am perfectly aware of Inheritance Cycle canon and that neither of those characters had faith in higher powers at the end of Inheritance. Again, these changes were feasible in my mind because those two have some pretty powerful life-changing experiences, but if you have a very rigid definition of who Eragon and Arya are and can't imagine yourself relaxing those views at all, you may find yourself frustrated by my interpretation.

I hope you now have a clearer understanding of what you can expect from my story. It is and always has been a romance. It contains very little action/adventure compared to Inheritance Cycle, and the tone and subject matter are vastly different. The conflict Eragon and Arya face is not one of good versus evil but a real-world problem that many couples experience. I welcome all feedback on my writing, as is clear in the fact that I have allowed all guest reviews, even those less than glowing (with the exception of those containing profanity), so that prospective readers will understand what others think of my work. If you have a strong desire to point out any of the aforementioned themes and your dissatisfaction with them, go for it. But I feel that I have taken such criticisms into consideration as much as I can without changing what actually happens in my story. If you get fed up with my book, I suggest checking out some of the other fics on the site (as I have said before, They say the World was built for two is a lovely story, one which keeps E & A much "truer" to their IC personalities and takes their reunification much more slowly). I haven't read many of them, but maybe some of them will be more to your liking. There seem to be plenty with lots of violence, fighting, wars, and action. Or you can always try writing your own continuation. It truly is a delight! Thanks for reading, ~A
