![]() Author has written 17 stories for Star Wars, Elder Scroll series, Fantastic Four, Star Wars, Fairy Tales, Mary Poppins, Harry Potter, Pacific Rim, Marvel, Kingsman: The Secret Service, Xenoblade Chronicles, Matilda, and Avengers. 'When a cold wind blows it chills you, chills you to the bone. But there's nothing in nature that freezes your heart like years of being alone. It paints you with indifference, like a lady paints with rouge. But the worst of the worst. The most hated and cursed. Is the one that they call Scrooge.' To the above, I felt I should share my reasoning for my pseudonym. On the day I made this account I was struggling for a name, and I had recently rewatched one of my favourite films of my childhood: A Muppet's Christmas Carol. (Dec. 2019 Edit: Still a great film. I might go watch it now, actually, 'tis the season and all that) Okay, here's the reason this account was made. Over the years, I've had plenty of sparks of inspiration to write fics, and I do so in my head weaving little stories and such and occasionally I begin to write these. Now One-shots aside, I have never finished a full length fic, and as such I haven't posted anything publically in three years. This account (which is not my original one, which I now use to read and review other people's work) is for posting some of these things, which I'm doing because my brain keeps nagging at me to do so. I would make of note themes most often found in my work are dark, will contain sexual insinuation if not actually portraying it, most often I write F/F or M/F pairings (as that is what I can understand best from my PoV; I rarely read or write M/M pairings), hard lives and not particularly great writing are to be expected. You'll probably find my style of writing and my capability changes from fic to fic, and this is because, like I said, they've all accumulated over time and I think I may have got a bit better at writing them. That's what I like to think anyway. Long and short, I write shit when inspiration takes me, and that phase of writing only lasts as long as the inspiration, which can be a few days to a few weeks, at which point I'll stop and probably never pick up that fic again. The results of these bouts of inspiration are documented herein, to give me ease of mind. Enjoy I guess, and I'd appreciate any criticism on how to improve my writing. Note, a lot of the stuff I post will be in a half finished form, and may even just stop halfway through a chapter. My greatest aim on here is to work the phrase: "Exit stage left, pursued by a Dalek' into a story. "Always have a Hufflepuff guarding your back, a Ravenclaw doing your books, a Slytherin as your lawyer, and a Gryffindor as your attack dog."- Something I hope to work into a story I'm currently writing, and should hopefully be uploaded. Oh and importantly, as this is all fanfiction under my account DISCLAIMER : I OWN NOTHING Pet Peeve: If you leave a guest review, especially as anon/guest, with a question in it - especially "Will this be updated," - you will not receive an answer. I cannot reply to you, and I will not put anything in my already too long AN's unless it's important e.g. my discrete/discreet cock-up in CMM. FURTHER DISCLAIMERS: As of 28/01/16, I'm going to state here the names of various authors whose work I read often and much of, and references to whom may (and likely will) appear often in my own work as I simply read so much fanfiction it tends to get ingrained in my head, and I forget where I grabbed one turn of phrase or the other. If you see something in one of my stories and think 'Hey, didn't 'X' make Daniel Granger an ex-SAS serviceman?' Then yes, it is a reference to Rorschach's Blot's works, etc. List as follows from the top of my head, and will likely be added to as I recall more, and pretty much all of these are people I think you should check out as well: Rorschach's Blot, Diresquirrel, Nemesis13, Carnivorous Muffin, Silently Watches, Paladeus, Whitetigerwolf, Sprinter1988, Brainthief, White Squirrel, Philosphize, Useful Oxymoron, LadyDae, Elizabeth Carter, Morta's Priest. And that's who I can remember of the top of my head. Like I said, this will probably be added to, and if you're someone whose work you think I've referenced, please do remind me as I'd like to give appropriate credit on this site where we're all creating fan works not just off of the original source material but off of each other (I tend to think of it as remixing remixes and covers.) Goes without saying I'm fine with anyone doing the same to me, although I don't think I have much worth referencing. Update December 2019: Okay, so, I'm not dead Updates; I don't know when or if they will happen. Quite possibly, the answer is never. Many stories here started life in 2014, and enthusiasm for them is kinda gone in a lot of ways. I still like the ideas I had for most of them, but my writing is so frustrating and I find it difficult to continue things as is. I half want to either delete them all, or rewrite them into something better. Some of them have continuations, or half finished chapters and story outlines on my hard drive, and others don't. Maybe I'll upload what I have left at some point if people want, but I doubt any of the unfinished works are getting completed in their current form (TSAE has the best chance as that was very close to finishing the first arc, and I have a bunch of shorts for the second which might be worth an upload). They're not exactly abandoned, though - I do still like the ideas, and I occasionally have new ones for them, but I'd probably want to begin them again from scratch before continuing (which is a timesink all of itself - I've been doing it to one of my unfinished drafts recently, and it almost takes longer than a normal story). So, my current plans are thus: I have a few new bits (two oneshots, and that rewritten story) which might be worth sharing soon(ish), and whatever else I may create in future (this year's already been better for writing than last year). I'm going to upload them to an Ao3 account (and maybe crosspost here, I guess), which kinda lets me start anew. Then, I'll hopefully post other new stuff there, and - in time - maybe start transferring older fics and updating them as I go. Or else sticking them in a graveyard folder/plot bunny pastures equivalent unchanged, I don't really know, it's all vague plans for now. TL;DR: Don't hold out for updates, but maybe keep an eye out for posting on a new Ao3 account. 2022 Update: Just as a notification, apparently this site has decided if you use an outlook/hotmail account you don't get to receive any notifications anymore. I'll try to log in occasionally, but there's a good chance I will not answer things quickly or at all, apologies. |
