So here I am in Africa at long last. At first I thought it unlikely that I'd keep up with the princesses, as African culture and western fairy tales don't seem very compatible. However, my African host family is full of girls who are obsessed with princess stories and I feel much more motivated to write than I did in Europe. Royalty is real here. This part of Cameroon used to be divided up into kingdoms ruled by kings called fons, and although they have a modern political system now, the kings are still very influential and their children are titled princes and princesses. Due to the large number of wives, and therefore children, allowed to fons, there are plenty of royals wandering about and i've actually met a real princess. Who would've thought?
