![]() About my favorites lists: I have found that author’s profiles tend to be very useful when looking for new things to read. So I have decided to post some information here to help make my favorites lists more useful to the few people who ever see this profile. Favorite Stories (As of 2013): Because I tend to find that the easiest way to get through a long favorite stories list is the “find” box with the fandom I am searching for in it, here is a list of fandoms that are represented on my favorites lists: Alex Rider, Artemis Fowl, Avatar: Last Airbender, Bleach, Code Geass, Danny Phantom, D.Gray-man, Darren Shan Saga/Cirque du Freak, Death Note, Doctor Who, Dragon Ball Z, Final Fantasy VII, Firefly, Fullmetal Alchemist, Harry Potter, Hikaru no Go, Legend of Zelda, Lord of the Rings, Naruto, One Piece, Quantum Leap, Sherlock, Silent Hill, Slider, Star Trek: 2009, Stargate: SG-1, StarTrek: The Next Generation, StarTrek: The Original Series, Tales of Symphonia, Tales of the Abyss, Torchwood, Xenosaga, Yu-Gi-Oh The bolded fandoms are the ones that make up most of the list. For the Xenosaga stories some of them are listed as being in the “Xenogears” fandom. Most of the stories are novel length with the main focus being on angst, torture, character deaths, revealing secrets, etc. Very few have romance in them. Time travel tends to be one of my favorite plot clichés, particularly within a characters personal timeline. I also enjoy the occasional well-written mentor fic, as well as a good secret-revelation type fic. I have a bit of a soft spot for Harry Potter crossovers so there are a lot of those on the list. Favorite Authors: My usual guideline for favoriting authors is that I will favorite them if they have at least two unrelated, novel-length, favoritable stories. There are some exceptions to this in the cases where I found a story (novel-length or even one-shot) to be exceptional when I read it. I have found that favorite authors lists tend to be less useful since it is often hard to tell what fandoms an author writes just based on their penname. Therefore, here's an abridged list of favorite authors by the fandom I found them through: Alex Rider: amitai Artemis Fowl: refloc, silverfingers, the black knight Avatar: Last Airbender: lazyartisan Bleach: Allen the Musician, altersuperego, lalulweeb914, Riza Winters, RR-Major-Ed-Pride, windlily Danny Phantom: Cordria Final Fantasy VII: Sinnatious Firefly: nonjon Fullmetal Alchemist: agent000, HiBob Harry Potter: HiBob, Jocelyn, Mei1105, Stars Enchantress, Taint of Taia, teacherbev, WolfMoon, nonjon Hikaru no Go: Sinnatious Naruto: KyLewin, WhyMustIWrite One Piece: Velkyn Karma Star Trek: 2009: Pheonix-cry Stargate: SG-1: JAJJAJ, MaureenT, Pheonix-cry, winterstar-Donna StarTrek: The Original Series: KCS Tales of Symphonia: Ahro, Audinale55, freakyanimegal, Kasan Soulblade, Kratos Wilder, LateNiteSlacker Xenosaga: 100-series Yu-Gi-Oh: Mei1105, Shadow over Egypt Most of the double listings on this list are for authors who I found through crossover stories. There are two authors so far that met my parameters for a favorite author on two separate occasions in two different fandoms: Pheonix-cry and Sinnatious. Since I started reading fanfiction in the Tales of Symphonia fandom, many of those authors were added before I came up with systems for finding, reading, and favoriting fanfiction and its authors. Having read a lot of fics, I have come to expect updates on in-complete fics to take a long time. Fast updates are pleasant surprise and an unusual luxury. Do not worry if an update takes a while. Real life always should take priority. |
