Due to illness, family needs, and professional obligations, I haven't been able to get back to this fic as I'd hoped two years ago, as much as I would have dearly liked to, and as much as I hold on to hope that perhaps someday in the future I still might be able to, if the stars align. To the readers who have come along on the journey of Reverse from the very beginning and to new readers alike -- thank you, sincerely, for your continued support, kind words, and enthusiasm for the story. You've made this, historically, a wonderful community to be a part of.

Which is why I was so disappointed when I returned to this site after being away the last two years to find that for some reason a group of anonymous trolls have decided to target Reverse with a wide variety of bizarre, false claims about myself and my story. For the last decade and a half that I was on this website and in the HP fandom, it has been composed of a genuinely decent, kind community. It's sad that the hate we're seeing emerge in so many ways around the world today has spilled onto this platform targeting authors who put their own blood, sweat, tears and years of hard work into creating deeply beloved, complex works of fan fiction (within the bounds of JKR's OG Harry Potter series that inspired them).

I've removed the false claims dated through now so the review pages can continue to be a place for people who approach the story with good intentions to share in their reading of it, rather than a troll dumping ground. But because I literally have not dipped back into this world for two years and may not for another few years straight, for clarity for any future false claims that might continue to be posted: I have no other accounts but this one and my account on A03 with the 30 posted chapters of Reverse, which have never been threatened by any moderators for any reason whatsoever. I am not on any other platforms/social media, and have not and will not be posting anything anywhere else. And no troll has been or will ever be the reason that I haven't updated this story-- unexpected illness, family, work and the triumphs and struggles of daily life offline can be thanked for that.

Life is hard right now for many, many people, and I hope all my readers are doing okay. I wish everyone good health, safety and happiness in this increasingly chaotic, uncertain world. And I also send my love and sincere best wishes to any prospective troll reading this. We all are so remarkably fortunate to have been gifted this extraordinary chance to be alive for a time on this beautiful planet. I hope you are able to find things that bring you happiness, joy and safety in their own right, not at the expense of other people, so you no longer feel the need to tear down the creations of others with mean-spiritedness, falsehoods and hate.

After all, as Albus Dumbledore said in the Goblet of Fire: "We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided."

1,000,000 thank yous to all those who continue to read and support Reverse!

It looks like Fanfiction has sent out some notifications that I have updated Reverse. I haven't -- yet; I've just begun to make some superficial edits that the story needed, which has never triggered update notifications before but it appears it may be doing so now. My apologies for getting everyone excited only to see that there isn't any new content at the moment!

That said, I will finally, finally have the bandwidth to continue writing this story over the next couple of months and beyond, so please keep an eye out for an update for Chapter 46 within the next few months. I will also be cross-posting the story on Archive of Our Own for our friends who prefer to use that website and who may not yet have had the opportunity to enjoy Reverse, so for users of both sites, don't be surprised if you see me posting these already-published chapters there as well.

I cannot thank you enough for your patience, encouragement and kind words over the past five years. I know it has been a long time. While I won't be able to respond right now to each of your messages that have been sent over the years, please know that I have read each one, and your dedication, kindness and wonderful words of feedback and love for Reverse mean the world to me -- truly, this story has one of the best fandoms out there.

I know how hungry you are to see the final stretch of the fic, but this is a forewarning that it make take me a year or two to resume regular updates. I say this so you don't have to check back constantly hoping to see one, as I certainly have been apt to do with unfinished stories I love that have no clear update timeline. I have begun the process of vagabonding abroad for a number of years (a long-planned and long-awaited adventure), and am also in the midst of finally creating some original fiction of my own. Both, for the moment, have taken my attention away from Reverse.

The Reverse world and our beloved flipped-universe characters with their triumphs/struggles is very dear to me, and I can never abandon it. But I thank you deeply for your patience as life (again) veers me away from this story temporarily.

Plus a question from reader AllAboutObsessions: How can the muggelborns be so corrupted? I figure they would have spent their first 11 years with people with normal morals. How does the transformation come about?

And my answer: Keep in mind that even the Muggle world in Universe B is morally 'reversed' as well. It's a mostly dystopian world. So the ethical standards of the majority of normal people living in London at the time, for example, would fall a bit on the darker, more corrupt scale (versus here in Universe A, where I would say the standard moral inclination tends to swing more toward what we could consider as 'good.'). The Universe B country of Muggle Britain itself, even, may not even be a pillar of freedom and tolerance at all (what I was sort of trying to get across with the American President bit in Chp. 22 -- that so many Universe B countries which are looking the other way and/or condone Dumbledore's severe suppression of the conservative uprisings would potentially have been the first countries to speak out against it in Universe A). So, first part: for the majority of Muggleborns, and people, their 'normal' morals in 1999 Universe B equate 'questionable' morals in Universe A. That's the world I've created.

Second part: It's true that a few Muggleborns may have been raised in the less common 'morally upright' families. But still, Muggleborns as a whole are pretty rare, so perhaps only a handful of them over the decade have not personally subscribed to the oppression. But consider that when they arrive in the wizarding world, there's only a handful of them, and they're treated like royalty because of Dumbledore's strong support of the Muggle world and Muggle/Magical partnerships. They're also fed the Sovereignty propaganda that conservatives/pure Light wizards, which include most Old-Bloods, haven't supported Muggle/Magical Integration, and, therefore, Muggleborns themselves. It would be very easy for them to view conservatives as a threat to their greatly welcomed position in the wizarding world, especially since they're new to the magical world and might not understand it fully. Unless they have very strong principles and an advocacy drive like Hermione (who, let's face it, is a rare flower anyway), I could see how they wouldn't speak out against it or would just go along with it.

Word of mouth has really been what's gotten so much readership for this story, and I certainly couldn't have accomplished that without you! I wrote HYE in my younger writing days. When I read through it now, a lot of bits, especially early on, really showcase my lack of experience as an author, so quite frankly I truly appreciate your generosity of praise and willingness to go it through to the end!
