Poll: I'm thinking of starting a new story soon once I finish Green Demon, or Clinically Insane Possibly Crazy, which ever gets done first. What genre would you guys like to see? PM if you choose Other Vote Now!
Author has written 3 stories for Lord of the Rings, Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, and Angel.
So nothing really to put on here except I enjoy writing. It helps me escape my every day world of normality. To put is simply I'm a stay at home mom and its nice to go into a girlish fantasy and imagine and all that fun stuff. I've had this account since I was like fifteen so, well fanfiction is my guilty addiction and my husband has to sit through hours of my gabbing about this story or that story. He's really very patient with me.
I go through phases with my stories. For instance right now I'm on a roll with my Buffy the Vampire Slayer story and I'm loving it. My LOTR story is still getting written, but I usually have to insanely hyper or in a cynical mood to find Lillian and Bob's character. It's all very complex and really not at the same time. See, my husband bands me from my energy drink when I'm too focused on my stories, which makes me sad and not wanna write about those two characters. So, if it takes me a little over a week to update that one blame my husband.
My current Avatar: It's a work in progress but it's a picture of Spike and Alice, I'm still tweaking it but I'll eventually get links up of the banners and what not.
I've started an album for Green Demon so take a look, enjoy, all that!
So here are the stories and ships I'm interested in:
Lord of the Rings: This is what got me into Fanfiction in the first place and sadly it was the Legolas/OC ships. Now, I'm not so much for those, I mean if I can find a well written one that the girl who Legolas falls for isn't like miss Mary Sue perfect. I have a rant about Mary-sue's later on and my view on them. Anyway I do LOVE Boromir/OC's. It's one of my favorites.
LOTR things I refuse to read: Aragorn ending up with anyone but Arwen. Slash fics between Sam and Frodo. I think it's kind of spitting on Tolkien's work a little. They were close friend, not lovers.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel: They're pretty much the same catagory to me. You know Angel and Buffy. I enjoy Spike/OFC's. In fact if they're written well I kind of love them. I love Spike, so sue me. Xander/OFC's as well, or AU Xander/Buffy. The other pairing I like seeing as side stuff in the stories but not as the main plot.
Buffy/Angel fics I refuse to read: I usually don't read Buffy/Spike because it almost seems redundant. They get together for a little bit, Buffy's got this cursed doom thing over her head and she was kind of plain rude to Spike. I love the series, ever little bit of it, but yeah I'm just not a big shipper for Buffy and Spike in fanfics. The occasional AU is okay, but normally I won't read them.
Video Game fics! What can I say? I'm a nerd, to the core. I love Mass Effect fan fics and Dragon Age fan fics. Also I enjoy Oblivion and Fallout. It's all good. There really aren't that many, but I love them all the same!
Chuck: First of all, awesome show! I love Casey/OFC if done right. That's about all I look for in there. In fact I'm working on my own story for that section, but that's not here or now, that's later. Yeah, that's the only ship I read so...not even gonna put down what I won't read.
Firefly: Awesome show, another wonderful genius from Joss Whedon. Very much a Jayne/anybody female. Do you see a trend here? If you've seen both shows you'll get it.
Twilight: I'm a sad, sad little woman. So first time I read the books, I liked them, I read them again and got over the whole true love fog that was going on and went WTF! Bella doesn't have much of a personality on paper does she? I mean if you give her one in your head she does, but yeah. Anyway so I kind of love the concept of Twilight but the actual books I've leaned to hate a tiny bit. So I've learned that I love fics that kind of bash Bella, or just point out her flaws. I'm working on a few of my own, still tweaking them. Basically I enjoy Edward/OFC's. I've got a thing with Orginal female characters, I think it's because it introduces a new element to the stories.
Absolutely refuse to read these types of Twilight fics Bella/Edward. I mean come on, the entire series is about them. I've read a few All human fics where they're the pairing and they were okay, but after that I just decided what's the point? They end up together or have a Romeo and Juliet ending which is a little pointless. What's the point of pairing them together in a fan fic if they all ready have their perfect little ending? So I avoid those because sometimes I'll get into the story and then stop and go "wait, I all ready know how this ends, why am I wasting my time?" Yeah, anyway.
Harry Potter: What do I say about that? I love it, I've been reading these books since I was thirteen blah, blah. I kind of love about any pairing, but I'm not a fan of slash. I'm just not when it comes to Harry Potter unless the actual chracaters were gay in the cannon. For instance, Dumbledore, or better yet if there is going to be slash the character cant suddenly be like, hey I'm gay, you cute one make out with me. There has to be questioning and confusion and as much as I hate to say it: ANGST! Still, love reading through all the fics.
Scorpian's Thoughts on the Dreaded Mary-Sue:
Okay, so I really don't hate the Mary-sue. I hate the all perfect everything goes my way and my actions have no consequences and her name is like five words long. Some thing like Seline Hazel Rose Crystal Anderson. Whatever, I hate those. I mean there are many characters, even in movies, shows, and books, that have Mary-Sue qualities. It happens, I have no problem with those. It's those characters that are so perfect you want to pluck your eyes out. Everyone loves them, their love interest sees them and they're like: "Oh My God, I must have you right now in front of everyone!" Those are the characters that bug me. There's this really cool test you can take for your characters just look up The Original Fiction Mary Sue Litmus Test. It has a whole bunch of questions and at the end gives you a score for you character. I like it.
For instance I got a 10 for Alice my OFC for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She's apparently between the Anti-Sue and the Non-Sue. Lillian from my LOTR fic is the anti-sue. Then again she's crazy and that just doesn't happen often when people write stories and put in a character, but I love her. Writing an actually insane person is aweseom!
After thought for reviews:
Something I will say, because it just feels needed: If you don't care for my stories one little bit then there is no reason to be rude. If you would like to offer helpful critisicsm I welcome it with open arms. I have a wonderful beta but neither of us are perfect and occasionally we'll miss something important.
In other news here are some stories I'm currently working on:
Lord of the Rings:
Clinically Insane, Possibly Crazy: Lillian is crazy. Crazy with a capital C. She has a little voice in her head that talks a lot, and has decided to call itself Bob. She finds herself swept up in the LOTR universe and well... Let's just say it will be interesting.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer:
Green Demon: Alice is your typical college student. Well maybe not typical, she's half demon and she gets caught up with the Scoobies. Join her as she discovers more about her demon self and helps the gang. Will eventually go slightly AU from the cannon story.
I'm working on some other possible stories, but I'm not quite if they're going to go anywhere. So...yep...
(random stuff I find and decide to put here)
YOU KNOW YOU'RE AN AUTHOR IF...
You talk to yourself a lot. (e.g. What if someone actually insane fell into a story... Oh, story idea!! Must get computer!)
You talk to yourself about talking to yourself. (e.g. 'did you seriously just say that? Ok...maybe I did but it has some logical sense behind it...maybe...')
When you talk to yourself you often talk to yourself like you're talking to someone else. (e.g. 'Have you ever noticed that your right hand will never touch your right elbow? Wonder if you could lick your elbow?')
After uttering a profound peice of wisdom like that above, you stare at the cookie in your hand with awe and say, "Wow,this stuff is great for sugar highs...'
You live off of sugar and caffine (the two greatest things ever discovered!)
You'll check your e-mail every day of the week and then dissappear off the face of the earth.
You're e-mails tend to be pages long and incredibly random.
When replying to an e-mail, you'll never actually address the point of it.
You tend to collect Bic Stics off the ground like picking pennies off the ground.
No matter where you are in a room you never have to get up to find a pen/pencil and paper.
The letters on your keyboard are wearing off. (once a key actually fell off!)
Your friends and family think that you have carpal tunnel syndrome.
People think you have A.D.D. (E.G they're talking about something, then and idea for a story pops into your head and you just tell them about it. No reason, just stop them in the middle of the sentence and say something that has nothing to do with what they're talking about.)
You think it'd be cool to have A.D.D.
You constantly start talking in third person, present or past tense.
You start thinking about making lists like this and start giggling for no "apparent" reason
Your friends stopped looking at you funny for no apparent reason a loooooong time ago. They just learned to nod their head and go along with it. There's really no point in arguing.
