Thanks. Here's a poem that I wrote my second year of college.

Love is

A word I am always hesitant to say

Because of the weight people lay

In four letters with a million meanings

Strung together to describe complicated feelings.

I don’t speak the word when I probably ought to;

I don’t normally jump into things so new

Because trust in anything is important to me

And I don’t do that so easily.

It’s

Immeasurable

Unconditional

The most amazing thing

we say…

But to me,

It’s sitting in a room completely at ease,

No falsities given in order to appease

A person whose drama you would rather do without;

Who you can’t be certain that there’d be no fallout.

It’s combing my hands through the velvet of his hair

And listening to his rants of life being unfair,

Or curled up close where we can be

Away from the judgment that prying eyes see.

It’s complex in the fact that it’s not what people say;

Its uncomplicated, no drama, its trust in every way,

Because I told him things I’ve never said out loud before;

He knows my insecurities- could destroy me if he’s bored.

It’s goofing off without any scrutiny

Or even in public in our own form of mutiny,

Because everywhere we go I can feel their eyes

Peeking from doorways and snooping like spies

Thinking they know us- our relationship is a bet

When in reality, he’s just my best friend yet.
