What I'm doing right now: sitting in the new apartment at 6am, waiting for Avenge Me reviews to come flooding in
Favorite books: A Veiled Threat (Transformers), 20 Years After (3 Musketeers), Jurassic Park, The Lost World, the original Robin Hood, Inkheart, Inkspell and Inkdeath, That Kids on Zoloft (short story), everything by Craig Johnson, Robert Parker's Virgil Cole series
Favorite Comics: Matt Frac all the way with his original Hawkeye series, and his new one. Hawkeye's Blindspot, Breakout, Avengers World, Old Man Logan
Writing background: I've been writing since a very young age. I enjoy the thrill of each written word, not knowing what may spring from my finger tips next. It's an exhilarating sort of drug and I am a terrible addict to it. i love taking a favorite character from book or movie and twisting them into my own demented undertakings at the same time dragging them through my personal trial by fire. I also cannot help but be moved by a good mystery, so I often write them. I have been published many times. Every year my local college magazine comes along and asks for submission and I am never denied my 5-10 winning entries. Usually they are the stories, poems, or photographs I would love to hate, but somehow there is a poor sap reading my work and thinking it is the best load of cow manure next to Robert Frost. Poor, poor humans. I was published for a time on Barns and Noble before I removed the story to make revisions. It turned out too much like a Mary Sue. An unfortunate trap. Since beginning my professional degree, I have changed all of my writing handles to the name Ezra Cross for two reasons. One, I am hoping to finish my revisions and relaunch my original series under my pseudonym and two, i wish to keep a professional anonymity separate from my writing. Ezra has altered looks, the opposite sex, and can be much wittier on paper than I can in person. I look forward to a book signing where they expect a man, a reader approaches my table, and there I sit instead. :) It's the little things in life.
Accessibility: I am VERY open as a writer. I know my grammar is not the best, but after 10 years in higher education, with three of those being in Veterinary school, that tends to fly out the window along with handwriting. (I've discovered that "doctor handwriting" is ingrained in us like a disease we can't cure). However, my grammar is one of the reasons I have two amazing betas perusing my stuff on a cyclic basis. We are only unpaid humans. We miss things. So please, if there is something driving you mad, I really am open to suggestions! I just learned from a wonderful unnamed guest that ((( ." He said))) is incorrect and ((( ," he said)))) is actually appropriate, which is going to alter my writing from here out.
Criticism: No one wants their work shot out of the sky like a rogue jet. I accept all constructive criticism and if I'm in the wrong, heck yeah I will try my hardest to make it right. Please address any critical comments, though, somewhat professionally so I don't end up in a ball on my closet floor thinking oh whoa is me. "Just being honest" is not an excuse to be downright mean.
Reviews: God I love them. I love them in probably an unhealthy way. I totally admit to holding my e-mail hostage till i get a really fat load of emails and binge reading them all at once like a drug high. So yes, dear God yes, review. It's honestly what supports my creative process and without it, i'm not sure what I'd be doing.
