I, TK Grimm, do solemnly swear to (try to) review all the fics I enjoy, regardless of the number of reviews, its age, or anything else. (I do this guys. I know what it's like to get reviews, and so I always give them. Please repeat).

I believe this is something everyone on here should aspire to. Sure, stories shouldn't be a 'popularity contest' over who has the most reviews, but if you are reading a story, you should take the time to write a little something. Whether it is three words long or three paragraphs, as that person has gone out of their way to write something that probably took several days to complete, it is only fair that we as readers write something in return that only takes a few seconds. It is the least we can do, and it means the most to writers.
My policy concerning reviews: Generally, I leave two types of reviews, depending on the story. Most of the time, I will leave a nice, friendly comment in a review with something I liked and move on. If it is a story where either A: it wow's me into submission, or B: the writer has asked for constructive feedback, then I will instead write several paragraphs on what I liked, what I didn't, and how I think they can improve (if I think anything even needs to be improved on).
Do you have Skype/Facebook/Whatever?
I do. I often utilize Skype for my beta services simply because it makes it easier to chat back and forth about the project. PM me for details.
Can I talk to you about stuff that isn't writing-related?
Absolutely. I'm a social person, and whether or not it's work/writing related, I would love to hear from you. Want to talk about life, love, and everything in between? I can offer advice, or I will gladly take any advice you have. You can never have too much knowledge. Sometimes, it's easier to talk to a complete stranger than it is to talk to someone who knows you. I think of everyone as a potential friend, so please feel free to contact me anytime, about anything.
Will you read my story and review it?
Definitely. I get this request all the time, and I've never once refused it. Of course, I can't guarantee I will stick with your story. It depends on if it holds my interest or not. But I will most certainly take a look and give you a review with my thoughts concerning it.
Will you beta my story?
Beta, to me, is a much more difficult request because it requires I go far more in-depth than a typical review. To me, a beta reader is not just a proofreader, but also someone who will dissect a story and help with its general construction. As such, I do not give out that service very often. Don't let that scare you away, though. Feel free to ask, because I will always at least consider it. For further details on my beta specifications, see my beta profile.
Will you write a story for a specific pairing?
I get this one a lot. Sorry guys, but it's most likely going to be a no. While I do favor writing romance, I'm a slave to my muse. I can't go against it. I know how much it sucks to search for a story of a ship you want and not find nearly enough for it, I unfortunately can't force content out. That, and if it's a pairing I'm just not interested in, then I definitely won't write for it. Not that I'm against any pairings (I love all ships), but only some of them actually inspire me to write something.
How about another Hakuoki character?
If I had a gold galleon for every time someone's asked me to write for another guy in Hakuoki... hah. Unfortunately, Okita Souji owns my muse. I played the other routes in the game for story completion, but he's the only one I fell in love with. And he's the only one I'll ever write for.
When will you write for Naruto again?
No guarantees here, but not for a long time, if ever again. I focused on Naruto on this site for like, seven years. And now that the manga is over, I'm ready to take a nice long rest from it myself, probably permanently. Sorry, but I won't be writing Naruto anymore (most likely). But I will still read and beta it.
What's the status of the Naruto AU contest?
I started that thinking I would have a lot more time to devote to it and advertise for it, but I am sad to say I haven't. Also, I'm on an extreme Naruto hiatus right now until further notice. I'm sorry if I let anyone down! But after that ending I am just, completely uninspired for Naruto.
If I didn't address your question in here, please, feel free to PM me. I don't ignore any PMs I get, and I try to respond to them all in a timely manner.
TK's Choice Awards
My top three fanfiction authors of all time.
3. Darkpetal16 (For sheer originality and ability to write SI/OC and make me devour every word. I don't get it, but it's awesome.)
2. Flaignhan (For ablity to write stories that are completely original, a bit out there, and yet miraculously in-character.)
1. firefly (For pure genius. She has a lot of humorous short stories for Naruto, and they're just... brilliant. Every last one.)
The top three most well-written, interesting, and entertaining one-shots I've ever read.
3. Sasuke is a Moron by Natarie, because all crack/parody stories should aim for this. It's ridiculous and yet realistic. It makes sense. And I died laughing.
2. A Day in the Life series by Tyramir, because they are all one-shots, particularly Reno's. They all manage to amuse you before hitting you in the feels.
1. Face Value by firefly, because it manages to take something so unlikely and frightening and make it truly, remarkably beautiful.
Other Notable Stories
These are sorted by category and pairing and are some particular favorites of mine.
Naruto - Sasori x Sakura - The Infinite Perfection of Being by Renaerys. This is by far the best SasoSaku I've ever read. It is beautiful and realistic.
Naruto - Deidara x Sakura - Somewhere I Have Never Traveled, Gladly Beyond by Wyntermute. It is well-written and very original.
Naruto - Itachi x Sakura - Metamorphosis by MitsukiShiroi. This is a completed trilogy that tugs on the heartstrings and is overall very beautiful.
Naruto - Orochimaru x Sakura - Stop And Say You Love Me by SpeedDemon315. This is such a beauty that I simply have to mention it.
Harry Potter - Tom Riddle x Hermione Granger - Have a Nice Day! by Speechwriter. I'm a sucker for well-written AUs, and this one is pretty fantastic.
Avengers - Loki x Darcy - Funny That Way by LuvaGoodMrE. This has probably the best written interpretation of Marvel-Loki I've ever read. And it's hilarious.
Pokemon - Gary x Misty - Saving Shard by Maia's Pen. I really enjoyed the original plotline and the conflict in this story.
True Blood - Godric x Sookie - God of the Living Dead by IceK7-1. This is a two-part story that is nothing short of wonderful. It's my guilty pleasure.
Hakuoki - Okita x Chizuru - What is Enough by Calenlass Greenleaf. This is a two-shot story that has the best writing for Okita I've read so far.
Hakuoki Wall of Fame
This is a section I've added to help you find something Hakuoki to read.
Starting with Canon-Verse, here's some notable chapter stories:
Hakuouki: The Will to Live by mocha11
While this game is basically a novelization of the game, Okita's route, so we all know what happens, I recommend it because the entire thing is written in Okita's point of view, rather than Chizuru's. It's well done, especially in later chapters. This writer has done a great job with writing his character, even in the handful of original scenes that weren't included in the game.
Word count: Over 120,000
Notable qualities: Perfect Okita writing, original scenes
Side note: This writer has also written severl one-shots for Okita that are really great.
Misplaced Soul by ArtimecWing
This is an SI-OC story (self-insert original character) written in first person point of view. It tells the story of Shizuka, a modern doctor who was reborn/reincarnated as Kondou's adopted daughter. The story goes through her childhood as a prequel of the series and Shizuka's adult life, which follows Reimeiroku and Shinsengumi Kitan.
Word count: Over 280,000
Notable Qualities: Well-written OC, interesting storyline, and consistent updates, which is a rare gem in these parts
Or if SSL is more your cup of tea, I recommend:
School Days - Komorebi by Miss Ragdoll
This is a silly story that quickly becomes delightful once you give it a chance. The cast is charming, and Miss Ragdoll has mastered the art of Okita angst. It really makes you feel for him. The other male lead is Saito, who was adorably awkward. Surprisingly, this story had me giggling in amusement one moment and then writhing in sympathy and squishy feels the next. It's very entertaining.
Word count: Over 70,000
Notable qualities: Simple/east/fast read, everyone is in-character, emotional rollercoaster
A Second Chance by Eiriasu
This is a short story, and there's not much to it, but the writing is actually pretty great and the concept is fantastic, so it's worth mentioning. You should all feed some reviews into it so the writer works on it more. It's the SSL-verse (though the school is co-ed, thankfully), but the guys all have their memories from the Shinsengumi. Chizuru doesn't have hers, so she doesn't know them, but she dreams/has visions about them. Very interesting!
Word count: 25,000
Notable qualities: Good writing, very interesting story concept
Crazy by Inuys-hispanicgirl
This one's a little different from SSL because it's college, but it's still modern/school, so it's worth including. It's a long story, but it's massively entertaining. This writer does a great job of making us readers blush and giggle throughout the story. It's basically Hakuoki College meets Fight Club. Ridiculously badass.
Word count: Over 110,000
Notable qualities: Realistic characters, great action, interesting and exciting plot
Here are some notable Alternate Universe chapter stories, neither Canon-verse nor SSL:
To Where the Sun Rises by mocha11
I really like this story because it takes the elements that I loved the most from the game and incorporates them into a new, interesting world. The writer did a great job of adding parallels from the Hakuoki universe into "Solis", the world the story takes place in. Like the game, Chizuru is in search of her father and takes refuge in the Shinsengumi, but there's a few changes concerning the Furies/Rasetsu that are very interesting.
Word count: Over 100,000
Notable qualities: Perfect Okita writing, lots of canon references, originality, interesting story
Side note: This writer has also written several one-shots for Okita that are really great.
Fateful by Inuys-hispanicgirl
Similar to this writer's story 'Crazy', this is a Modern-AU, but without the school setting. Chizuru is a doctor, and Okita is her patient. Well, for part of the story. It goes on to talk about a lot of subjects and events, and by the end of it, Chizuru and Okita both go through quite a bit of growth. It's also complete, which is nice.
Word count: 150,000
Notable qualities: Realistic characters, happy feels, good writing
And lastly, here's some short stories that I also think are worth mentioning:
Questions by hineko
There's not much to it, but it's so well done that I have to mention it. The premise is simple: Souji's childhood years growing up with Kondou and Hijikata. It's absolutely hilarious, refreshingly realistic, and honestly quite delightful. A perfect portrayal of the Okita-Kondou-Hijikata 'family' bond.
Word count: 8,000
Notable qualities: Good writing, fast read, very in-character
What is Enough by Calenlass Greenleaf
This is an M-rated two-shot that is extremely underrated, because it's nothing short of beautiful. It's all from Okita's point of view and takes place at the end of the game, after Kodo and Kaoru's deaths. My heart was squeezed and pulled into knots the entire time.
Word count: 10,000
Notable qualities: Perfect Okita writing, present tense
