First Lizzy had learned of Mr. Darcy's hand in breaking Jane's heart, and then he had offered the most insulting marriage proposal in history. Could a day get worse? Only if she were to be threatened at sword-point, tied up, and whisked away by a rogue, with only the world's most arrogant man to watch over her. Luckily, that wasn't very likely to happen...

The Gardiners' trip to The Lakes is not postponed and Elizabeth never visits Pemberley.

As suggested in the title of Jane Austen's original work, Darcy's greatest failing is pride. His passionate love for Elizabeth only mitigates this character flaw, resulting in the awful proposal at Hunsford. If happenstance forced Darcy to marry Elizabeth before he loved her, or even knew her at all, would he ever be able to get past his pride to recognise his fortune?

Tragedy has struck Longbourn with consequences for all. A most unexpected offer of marriage promises rescue but, having brought herself to accept, will a true partnership be forever out of Elizabeth's grasp? Rated T for safety.

What would have happened if Caroline attempted to compromise Mr Darcy? How would Georgiana try to save him from marrying Miss Bingley to repay him for saving her from Wickham?

I wrote this in response to the March/April 2017 writing prompt "The Best Set-Down" in AHA's "The Playground" forum. It is bit of OOC fun, which I hope you will enjoy.

Mr. Darcy suffered from a tragic past to become richer, harsher and more worldly; having grown up as a tomboy, Elizabeth has a harder time seeing herself as the beautiful woman she's become. The story takes place in a darker P&P world. Rated M for explicit sexual content and references to nonconsensual sex. Adult audiences only. AU and HEA.

A one-shot scene meant to be read in context with "Progression," now available for the kindle. A quiet grooming session evolves into a conversation between Darcy and his valet, Fleming, on the afternoon of the climactic Almack's ball.

Bad luck, good luck. Sometimes it's just a matter of perspective. With a little bit of both, starting with George Wickham's initial entry into Meryton, the course of events take some different directions. D&E, J&B, Mary/Collins, Wickham/OC.

The classic twist of Mr. Bennet dies, Darcy offers a marriage of protection, and he and Elizabeth must work through their pride and prejudices without being able to escape one another.

Elizabeth never meant for this to happen. One mistake-one simple mistake-and her life had unraveled around her. Now, on a path she never expected or wished for, she must learn about herself, about the things that are lost along the way to who we will become, and about the power love has to heal as well as to harm. After such a mistake, can she truly ever be happy again?

One Shot. Darcy and Bingley never went back to Netherfield after the ball. Darcy encounters Elizabeth four years after that, in a theatre in London. On advice from some reviewers, I have changed some things. I hope you like it.
