Bio/Info:

Hello! I am a Californian born male and I live about an hour from San Francisco. Career wise after college I hope to sign up with either the Marine Corps or the Army as an officer and serve my country faithfully for most of my life. My hobbies include listening to random music, playing a wide assortment of video games, and reading a wide variety of books. I have a great love for gaming but I never seem to have enough time for them probably due to college related activities. Over the years, I have read several fantasy books including texts from the Dragonlance series and Forgotten Realms series. I have a deep love for reading books with dragons in them. I do not know why I love dragons so much, as my Greek Orthodox upbringing tought me that dragons are representations of evil (St. George killing the dragon ring a bell anyone?), but I still do. I hope bringing my religious views into my profile, stories, or reviews won't offend anyone, as I subscribe to the idea that "please, don't try to convert me as I won't try to convert you to my beliefs" stance on the matter.

Areas of History I'm Interested in studying not in order though: The American Civil War (Loved reading about this war growing up, especially about the Battle of Gettysburg, Shiloh, and Antietam), The history of the Romans (both during the Republic and the later Empire, though I loved Julius Caesar's history the most), the long history of ancient Greece, Nordic and Viking history (Going to be taking a class on this in the coming fall semester, The impact of the Conquistadors in South America, The Great War or WW1, World War 2 (both the war in Europe and in the Pacific), Russian History (From the founding of a slavic state and the reign of Tsarist Monarchy to the Soviet Union), The American Revolutionary War, the history of Romania (I hope to one day conduct research there in order to write a book on Vlad Tepes who I feel has been misrepresented in the western world).

Favorite Video Games: ( I mainly like shooters but I have a soft spot for certain RTS and RPGs): Metro 2033, Red Dead Redemption, The Metal Gear Solid Series, The Monkey Island series, Wolfenstein series ( This was my first shooter! Though Return To Castle Wolfenstein was the best in my opinion!), Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Killzone 2, Half Life series, The Halo series, The Timesplitters series, Metal Slug series, Call of Duty series, The Tenchu: Stealth Assassin series, The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay, Red Dead Revolver, Counter-strike, Team Fortress 2, Diablo series, Bioshock, Assasins Creed, Command and Conquer ( Includes Tiberan, Red Alert, and Generals) series, Starcraft, Gears Of War series, Red Faction, F.E.A.R series, Max Payne series, Grand Theft Auto series ( I have only beat Vice City), Boderlands, Tenchu series, Doom 3, Eternal Darkness, Resident Evil series ( especially number 4 which is probably the best in the whole series and second is RE5!), Castlevania series (truly a classic), the Contra series(yet another classic), and many more, I like too many games!!

Current Games Being Played: Gears of War 3, Dead Island, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and Fear 3,

Most Memorable Moments in Video Games: The Escape from the Soviet labor camp Vorkuta sequence-Call of Duty: Black Ops,Landing on Omaha beach and breaking through Hitler's Atlantic wall as an American soldier-Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, Storming the Reichstag in Berlin as a Russian conscript in order to deliver the final blow to Nazi Germany and end the war- Call of Duty World At War, Watching in horror/amazement as Russian paratroopers float down upon American soil- Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Attacking the pelican dropship landing site on the beach in Silent Cartographer- Halo: Combat Evolved, Discovering the messed up occult schemes of the Nazis and putting a stop to it-Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Discovering the truth about the Dark Ones-Metro 2033.

Favorite Anime/Manga: Afro Samurai. GTO- Great Teacher Onizuka.

Favorite Movies: How To Train Your Dragon, Jurassic Park Trilogy, Cowboys and Aliens, True Grit, The King's Speech, Monty Python and the Quest For the Holy Grail, Transformers, The Warrior's Way (Low budget but Cowboys vs. Ninjas lol), Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, Gettysburg and Gods & Generals, The Hurt Locker, Glory, all Indiana Jones movies, Yojimbo, The Seven Samurai, A Fistful of Dollars, The Good The Bad And The Ugly, Saving Private Ryan, The Last Samurai, Letters From Iwo Jima, Flags Of Our Fathers, Enemy At The Gates, Black Hawk Down, Lord Of The Rings Trilogy, Pirates Of The Caribbean Trilogy, any Mel Brooks film (this includes Blazing Saddles, Spaceballs, The Producers and Young Frankenstein), 300, and most decent Dragon related movies.

Favorite TV Shows: History Channel- WW2 In HD, Pawn Stars, Monsterquest, Ancient Aliens (Don't believe all this stuff but I do find it somewhat interesting lol), America The Story Of Us (not the best show ever made but meh!). Spike TV- Deadliest Warrior (Good show with pretty good match ups between two of history's best warriors. Favorite Episodes include: Vlad The Impaler Vs. Sun Tzu, The Waffen SS Vs. The VietCong, CIA Vs. KGB, and US Navy SEAL Vs. Israeli Commando.). HBO- Band of Brothers, The Pacific. Animal Planet- Lost Tapes, SciFi-Destination Truth. CBS- NCIS (both original and NCIS: LA).

Favorite HTTYD/Dragonlance (D&D) Dragon Species: Night Fury, the unholy offspring of lightning and death itself(Goes without saying lol). Silver Dragons (As they are the species of dragons in the dragonlance series that interacts the most with human beings, due to their ability to shape shift, and sometimes develop strong relations, sometimes even falling in love, with humanity. Plus they've got two breath attacks that can either freeze their enemies to death or another that paralyzes them).

Favorite Kind of Animals Extinct Or Alive: Hyenas (both Spotted and Striped), Wolves, most species of big cats ( includes tigers and lions), Velociraptor, and snakes.

Favorite Novels/Books: Metro 2033, by Dmitry Glukhovsky, So Sad To Fall In Battle: An Account of War Based on General Tadamichi Kuribayashi's Letters from Iwo Jima, by Kumiko Kakehashi. The Red Badge of Courage, by Stephen Crane. The Killer Angels, by Michael Shaara. Starship Troopers, by Robert A. Heinlein. Jarhead, by Anthony Swofford, The Legend of Huma, Richard A. Knaak (Part of the Dragonlance series and one of the best in my opinion), The Dragonvarld Trilogy, by Margaret A. Weis (The trilogy describes a world in which humans believe that they are the rulers of the world, while the co-existing dragons know that they themselves are the true masters).

Interesting Quotes: "The Only thing we have to fear is fear itself." ( President FDR). "Sometimes the only way out of hell is to go through it" (Brothers in Arms quote). "Semper Fidelis" (Always Faithful, motto of the United States Marine Corps).

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." (Edmund Burke).

"Deutschland Uber Alles" (Joseph Hayden- The National Anthem of Germany. This one is a shout to my family living in Germany right now!).

"You're all gonna die. The only question is how you gonna check out. Do you want it on your feet? Or on your knees... begging? I ain't much for begging! Nobody ever gave me nothing! So I say * that thing! Let's fight it!" (Alien 3, bad movie but great line ;).)

"I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. Gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize like I know you're going to, I might be able to convince him that you didn't mean nothin' by it.." (The Man With No Name, A Fistful of Dollars).

"It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag,
and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protestor to burn the flag." (Denis Edward O’Brien, USMC).

"Many of us volunteered to fight for the Union. Some came mainly because we were bored at home and this looked like it might be fun. Some came because we were ashamed not to. Many came because it was the right thing to do.?" (Colonel Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain).

"This is a different kind of army. If you look at history you'll see men fight for pay, or women, or some other kind of loot. They fight for land, or because a king makes them, or just because they like killing. But we're here for something new. This has not happened much, in the history of the world: We are an army out to set other men free. America should be free ground, all of it, from here to the Pacific Ocean. No man has to bow, no man born to royalty. Here we judge you by what you do, not by who your father was. Here you can be something. Here is the place to build a home. But it's not the land. There's always more land. It's the idea that we all have value, you and me. What we're fighting for, in the end... we're fighting for each other." (Colonel Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain).

"The defenses may be futile. The defense of this island may be futile. The whole war may be futile. But if our children can live safely for one more day, it'll be worth one more day that we defend this island!" (General Tadamichi Kuribayashi).

"Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force! You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you. In company with our brave Allies and brothers-in-arms on other Fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world. Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained, well equipped and battle hardened. He will fight savagely. But this is the year 1944! Much has happened since the Nazi triumphs of 1940-41. The United Nations have inflicted upon the Germans great defeats, in open battle, man-to-man. Our air offensive has seriously reduced their strength in the air and their capacity to wage war on the ground. Our Home Fronts have given us an overwhelming superiority in weapons and munitions of war, and placed at our disposal great reserves of trained fighting men. The tide has turned! The free men of the world are marching together to Victory! I have full confidence in your courage and devotion to duty and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full Victory! Good luck! And let us beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking." (General Dwight D. Eisenhower Dday Speech).

Music/Song Lyrics:

The United States Marines Hymn

From the Halls of Montezuma,
To the shores of Tripoli;
We fight our country's battles
In the air, on land, and sea;
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title
Of United States Marine.

Our flag's unfurled to every breeze
From dawn to setting sun;
We have fought in every clime and place
Where we could take a gun;
In the snow of far-off Northern lands
And in sunny tropic scenes;
You will find us always on the job
The United States Marines.

Here's health to you and to our Corps
Which we are proud to serve;
In many a strife we've fought for life
And never lost our nerve;
If the Army and the Navy
Ever look on Heaven’s scenes;
They will find the streets are guarded
By United States Marines.

From the Halls of Montezuma,

To the shores of Tripoli;

We fight our country's battles
In the air, on land, and sea;
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title
Of United States Marine.

The Battle Hymn of The Republic:

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord:

He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;

He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword:

His truth is marching on.

(Chorus)

Glory, glory, hallelujah!

Glory, glory, hallelujah!

Glory, glory, hallelujah!

His truth is marching on.

I have seen Him in the watch-fires of a hundred circling camps,

They have builded Him an altar in the evening dews and damps;

I can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps:

His day is marching on.

(Chorus)

Glory, glory, hallelujah!

Glory, glory, hallelujah!

Glory, glory, hallelujah!

His day is marching on.

I have read a fiery gospel writ in burnished rows of steel:

"As ye deal with my contemners, so with you my grace shall deal;

Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with his heel,

Since God is marching on."

(Chorus)

Glory, glory, hallelujah!

Glory, glory, hallelujah!

Glory, glory, hallelujah!

Since God is marching on.

He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat;

He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment-seat:

Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him! be jubilant, my feet!

Our God is marching on.

(Chorus)

Glory, glory, hallelujah!

Glory, glory, hallelujah!

Glory, glory, hallelujah!

Our God is marching on.

In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea,

With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me:

As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free,

While God is marching on.

(Chorus)

Glory, glory, hallelujah!

Glory, glory, hallelujah!

Glory, glory, hallelujah!

While God is marching on.

He is coming like the glory of the morning on the wave,

He is Wisdom to the mighty, He is Succour to the brave,

So the world shall be His footstool, and the soul of Time His slave,

Our God is marching on.

(Chorus)

Glory, glory, hallelujah!

Glory, glory, hallelujah!

Glory, glory, hallelujah!

Our God is marching on.

God Bless the USA, by Lee Greenwood

If tomorrow all the things were gone,

I'd worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.

I'd thank my lucky stars,
to be livin here today.
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can't take that away.

And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

From the lakes of Minnesota,
to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,
From sea to shining sea.

From Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every American heart,
and its time we stand and say.

That I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

And I'm proud to be and American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.
