Whatcha up to, Joanie?
I'm studying game design and creating my own video games and I run my very own Let's Play channel on YouTube! I update on here with new stuff from time to time, but for the most part I'm writing my own original work.
How do you feel about Fan Fiction?
It's a great tool for learning to write, because it gives you the opportunity to work within established plots and characters and allow you to focus more on craft and wordplay over world-building. But never let it stop you from trying your own hand at writing an original story. Always push to better yourself. Don't settle for reviews either, write simply for the fun of it!
How did you find FF.net?
Through my friend, ShmeiliaRockie. At first I was just a reader until I stumbled across a writer on here named "Globey" - I don't know if she's still anywhere on here. I read her Pokémon story and was immediately entranced and inspired. I wanted to write again and I had so many ideas. At the time, I didn't see any Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog fan fiction on here, and so I said to myself that I would write some. At the same time I was creating an AoStH website, which is still there to this day, though I've given it to another fan to upkeep: . I can't believe I've been on here for almost 10 years and that I'm still writing, although I did take a long hiatus.
If you really liked one of my stories I'd love to hear from you. I want to share what I love about the written word -- to give back what I got from the authors I love. Adventure, Romance, Action, Friendship, Horror, Drama, the whole nine yards. I love anything and everything about a story told well from the heart.
Some of my favorite storytellers:
Stephen King, Gail Carson Levine, Terry Pratchett, Brian Jacques, Jeffrey Scott, David Hopkins, Genndy Tartakovsky, Brad Bird, and reading every person's first story, because it says so much about who they are.
