Hello! You’ve just stumbled across the profile of crazy turtle. If you happen to be one of the people, like me, who reads others profiles, then I suppose I should tell you a bit about myself.
I am as young as fanfiction writers go, and am a fairly new writer as well. I have been reading fanfiction for a while, and decided to finally get an account to keep track of all my favorite stories. I inevitably wrote my first story, a parody, because a good percentage of the stories on this website were, to be quite honest, infuriating. The characters were doing ridiculous things, they had all become American-ized (no offense, I'm American myself) , Mary-Sues were abundant, and stories about beauty pageants and exchange students plagued the internet fandom…I am painfully aware that even parodies are overdone, yet I just had to create one for myself, because, in my opinion, they are among the easiest to write, and I was only starting out, so...
For all of the clichéd stories on the web, some are brilliant, so many in fact, that most people will never read them all. I chose the stories that I thought were truly amazing for my favorites list, in hope that others would read them too, and spread them on to their friends-and my favorite authors list? Well, those are authors who are reallygood writers(and I have fallen in love with their stories). Please take note of my favorites list, it is there for a reason.
I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan, and so all of my stories will be based on the wonderful world J.K. Rowling has created for us. My favorite book in the series would have to be either Goblet of Fire or Order of the Phoenix. Although, the Half-Blood Prince did make me cry (hysterically, resulting in odd stares and muffled laughter). I also read Artemis Fowl, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Hitchhiker’s Guide, the Hobbit (although I really love the Lord of the Rings movies, I could only get halfway through the first book, due to my attention span the size of a gnat. A very stupid gnat) and books by Wendelin Van Draanen. I recently started reading the Princess Diaries Series and All American Girl by Meg Cabot and they arewonderful. I'm definitely a bookworm-I read at least 5 books a month, and sometimes go up to 20.
Overall, I am carefree, love to have fun, quite sarcastic, a bit like Hermione when it comes to grades, naïve at times, bookish, rebellious, lazy... If I were a character in Harry Potter, I’d most likely be Hermione, Fred or George, Tonks, or Lupin. I am a procrastinator to the point of stupidity-often I will read or watch television until after dinner when I realize I have hours of homework ahead of me. Block scheduling has saved my life. I have a bit of an obsession with dandelion-blowing, sparkly objects, and spouting off random phrases. I enjoy reading, laughing, talking, playing soccer, writing (as long as it’s not a prompt or research paper, which terrify me), going to the movies, and the like.
Mostly, I read humor, parody, or romance, although I will read well-written angst or drama. I ship Ron/Hermione; Harry/Ginny; James/Lily; and Remus/Tonks.
Mary Sue's Big Day-My first story. Considering the fact that it was quite short and had some typos and formating errors, I'd say that I was very happy with the number of reviews it received. It was my first story ever, so I won't be too harsh on myself.
I think I'll be writing a few more one-shots soon-most likely angst or romance, because I'm trying to try a different writing style. Then a multi-chaptered story if I find something to write about, but first I'm conquering the plot bunnies in my head.
By the way, I am in need of a beta. Maybe some minor help with grammar and somebody to critique my story so I know if the plot makes sense and reads nicely, without being out of character. Tell me in a review if you would be interested. And speaking of reviews, a 30- second review would 1) make me feel happy and 2) improve my writing style; so we both win. Flames will most likelybe mocked.
So, congratulations for finishing this unbearably long profile, and read my story -points below-. Expect a multi-chaptered story coming from me soon, athough I’d like to see if I can get a beta first. ~crazy turtle
