My job is currently on vacation so I'm trying to take a little time to clean up errors in previously posted stories. Basically for the holidays I am studying Kempo, editing errors out and trying to get a little stress out before I land on duty again. Happy holidays to everyone out there, be safe and may good things come your way.
To those who have read my past stories: Hello guys, it’s been a while and a lot has changed. Whatever I post from here on out may well reflect those changes. With that said, it’s good to be back in more ways than one. Please allow me to reintroduce myself.
Name: Haruka's Knight or Ruka for short.
Age: Older than you think, and younger than I feel.
Occupation: I have worked in rental, retail, logistics, security, finance, martial arts and yes the military. That said, nothing I write here reflects the views and/or position of any of those occupations.
Genre: Usually romance and/or drama/angst. I freely admit that my life experiences have colored my stories, and this ID is where I play in the realms of fiction allowing me an outlet for experience and emotion as well as imagination. The mileage on my mind and soul feels much larger than it actually is. I was informed recently that a study suggested one year of active military service puts three years of strain on a human body and mind. With that said, it is my belief that many other situations out in this wide world of ours have similar effects. So, as you walk down the sidewalk or through the mall, sometime allow your imagine to wonder what the mental and emotional age of those you pass truly is.
How to Train you Dragon: I am a Hiccstrid fan to the end, just can't imagine the two with anyone else in that little world. That said, I only just started digging into these works when a younger family member made me sit and watch "Race to the Edge". I love the idea of Hiccup, the one time shunned and misunderstood, as the hero. I also love Astrid as a driven warrior which clearly has a sharp intellect of her own and has matured to be a great advisor and partner to her chief. Sad to say, I have not read the books and unlike some series that I enjoy I do not intend to read them. My HTTYD works will all be rooted firmly in the Dreamworks version of this world. (Barring a possible alternate universe story, but none of those in the works yet.)
Tamora Pierce: Protector of the Small. I love the tales of Tortall. In this series I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the female knight who didn't always fit in, and had a very strong sense of right and wrong. If you haven't read this four book series I highly recommend it. In fact I recommend pretty much every book Tamora Pierce has written. They fall heavily into the Fantasy realm, featuring knights, kings, queens, immortals, gods, demi-gods, dragons, mages and much more. In PotS I am a supporter of Domitan and Keladry, Dom and Kel.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles which I have been a fan of for as long as I can remember. I am dork enough to admit that the essay I had to write for my black belt test included a reference to TMNT. My favorite character, hands down, is Donatello. I support the pairings Donnie and April, Leo and Karai... And please don't hate me but I am mildly intrigued by Raph and Casey. Oh yeah, I blame the 2012 for that last part. Don't expect me to suddenly write a Raph and Casey though, when I try to think up stuff for the two it ends up more side note than story. I recently started Choices and Chances which is a series of shorts, all of which are meant to be compatible with each other. I am considering writing a story which would follow Karai in a post Foot Clan era, exploring how I think her life will go if she survives the series and is free of her past.
Sailor Moon. The series has a semi diverse cast of main characters allowing for a lot of freedom for a fan fiction author to explore in various scenarios.
Full Metal Alchemist which I love for a number of reasons. FMA presents an image of the military which calls back to World War I era structuring. Also, though you have Alchemist bending the laws of science and reality, there is a very human feel to some of the characters. None of them are perfect, and many of their pasts actually have far more interesting turns.
Pairings: In no particular order: Haruka and Michiru (Sailor Moon), Makoto and Ami (Sailor Moon), Rei and Minako (Sailor Moon), Risa Hawkeye and Roy Mustang (Full Metal Alchemist), Donatello Hamato and April O'Neil (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2012), Leonardo Hamato and Karai Oroko (Miwa Hamato) (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2012), Keladry and Domitan (Tamora Pierce's Protector of the Small), Numair and Daine (Tamora Pierce's Immortals), Hiccup and Astrid (How to Train your Dragon). I'd take a jab at Usagi and Mamoru but I don't think I am very good at writing for either of those two characters.
Warnings: Yes many of my pairings reflect homosexuality, if you don't like it please don't feel obliged to read it. I do favor Hawkeye and Mustang of Full Metal Alchemist and will try to branch into some other pairings in the future. I am not trying to make any statements about homosexuality with the stories I have up, but I do support tolerance of freedom for all. It is not my goal to offend anyone however. The pairings reflected in my stories do not reflect the intended or unintended pairings of the series creators.
Character death, drugs, alcohol, violence, politically incorrect terms, irresponsible use of motor vehicles, intolerance and pro-military themes do creep into my stories... To that respect, again, no offense is meant. If you don't like my stories please do not feel obliged to read them.
