"I thought what I'd do was I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes" - Holden Caufield
Who the hell needs the mainstream? I luv anime & manga; Outlaw Star, Gunsmith Cats, Cowboy Bebop, Read Or Die, Gunslinger Girl, Bleach, Ghost in the Shell- Stand Alone Complex,Noir, Escaflowne and just about any of Shirow´s manga. I definitely prefer quality over quantity. Fairly loyal Outlaw Star fanatico- espacially of strong female leads like Aisha Clanclan, Twilight Suzuka and Hot Ice Hilda. What can I say? Between the interesting charachters and some of the backstory that's pretty much left to the imagination, I always thought there would be fertile ground for all sorts of fics. If you've read any of my OLS stories, then you'll probably notice a slight bias towards a certain alien catgirl.
For flesh & blood women, I'll sometimes fawn over that plucky little Scottish redhead Shirley Manson, Vancouver's own Fairuza Balk or Fraulein Franka Potente- none of these new, 'enhanced' starlets are really doing it for me.
Used to be a pretty big fan of Adult Swim once upon a time, but my interest in their lineup has been backsliding considerably since the introduction of floaters like 12 oz Mouse, Eureka 7, The Boondocks or Moral Orel (wow...whites/conservatives/christians as buffonish villains! That's edgy and original!). It's almost enough to make one nostalgic for Adult Swim gems like Stroker & Hoop or Tom Goes to the Mayor. At least they have SAC:2nd GIG, another season of The Venture Brothers and the upcoming release of Bleach for me to look forward to.
When I'm not working or procrastinating on fanfiction (which seems to be all the time these days)chances are I'll be watching Red Sox baseball in some way, shape or form. If it's not baseball season (or a travel day for the Sox), odds are I'll be watching the History Channel or the late great Mystery Science Theater 3000 on DVD. Or hiking...or downing some homemade raspberry hooch...or taking pictures of approaching thunderstorms...or shopping for more DVDs ('cause God knows that's exactly what I need right now).
