I feel that I first need to apologise for my absence but I do have some very good news... In the complete interest and benefit of my desire to be able to write more (Fanfiction and personal stuff) I have changed my working hours so that I will have much more time to dedicate to my passion. This means that I will be able to update more regularly and deliver what I have promised to you guys.
I did have quite the setback a few weeks ago in which I lost around 80% of my notes for my stuff on here and other projects which was a real nightmare. I took my laptop to several shops but very little was recovered, setting me back considerably. After brooding for some time I decided that I wouldn't let it beat me and have begun the long and arduous process of compiling once more what I had lost. To put it a little more into context, I lost 3 years worth of research equating to around 2,500 pages in total. But as I pointed out, I have finished brooding.
In regards to 'Stepping Back' I am writing what I promised to be the final chapter but me being my indecisive self is having second thoughts on continuing it as a sequel or just carrying on as a single piece?? Your thoughts would be much appreciated and welcomed in this decision. I can reveal that I have a much better idea with the direction I am going to take the story which means I will not be taking a break anywhere near as long from it as I had anticipated.
The next thing is the new story I am working on which will be entitled; 'The Green in the Grey'
Here I thought I would give you a brief summary and explanation.
It will be a WBWL story with Harry being 2 years older than in canon. I will not make his younger sibling a whiny spoilt little prince, there's just too much of that and Lily and James won't just allow things to happen because they are really bad parents or people. That being said, they certainly will not be flawless at all and they will make mistakes the first with allowing Dumbledore to send Harry to the Dursley's which will be explained in what I believe is a completely new and original way. Dumbledore won't be evil but he will certainly be with a one track mind and stubborn for the most part.
Of course, Sirius will certainly play quite a big role but things will not start off easy for himself and Harry, but trust me it will all be worth it and original.
This Harry will be a 'True Grey' wizard which will be explained in the work itself, I don't want to spoil it here. He will be quite unforgiving and ruthless with those who wrong him but will by no means be evil, perhaps a little dark at times though.
It will be set during the goblet of fire and as mentioned Harry will be sixteen by this point. I'm pretty sure you can guess at least one thing that will happen.
This will be my Harry/Tonks story as promised with a lot going on. I honestly can't even guess the length of the story but I imagine it will be sizable, perhaps Honour Thy Blood proportions.
I am also slowly developing my Harry/Fleur plot which is coming along nicely.
I am also toying with the idea of another time travel fic with a more uncommonly used pairing but not entirely decided on who. Perhaps, Amelia Bones??
Anyway, things will certainly be picking up very soon and I really can't wait to get back to this with much more vigour and consistency.
Anything with a Harry/Ginny pairing. This couple just makes no sense in any way for so many reasons.
1. She apparently looks and acts like his mother... Just no on that front.
2. She is his best friends sister and where I come from that's a massive no-go.
3. She just isn't very nice in general. She dates other guys to make him jealous and is clearly jealous and sneaky.
4. She is nothing more than a fan girl and a very annoying one at that.
I just also hate Ginny full stop. She bothers me more than Umbridge so you can guess how much she bothers me.
thats all I need to say about that.
SLASH. Just really isn't my thing. I've read some and tried to be objective but to me it's not believable in the slightest and ruins some potentially good stories. I am in no way homophobic but it's just one element I don't enjoy within main pairings in fics.
HAREM. Just no. For me it spoils characters and it way too ooc for my liking. A lot of characters are strong, loyal and independent and being in a harem would just never happen no matter how handsome and amazing Harry is portrayed.
i love non-canon pairings and the whole AU concept. Some pairings I've read and enjoy;
i think this pairing just adds a whole new dimension to the HP universe. She is a canon character with little known about her so it provides a really flexible mould to work with someone who isn't completely oc and the whole slytherin thing just adds to it further.
Again I fell these kind of pairings just add a whole new dimension to the universe and forms a basis of a very good AU setting. I'm not keen on the Harry/fleur/Gabrielle concept, for me it's just over the top.
Harry experiences a lot of hardship and trauma so him being mature beyond his years is very likely. It's not an impossible age gap between these 2 characters and when well written it really works. It just seems unlikely for Harry to be able to relate to girls his own age who are largely immature and who fan girl him so much. Her slight immaturity for her age balances his seriousness it really just works.
Although a quite 'out there' pairing, what I have read really does make this pairing work. The whole redemption and finding love with 'the enemy' is a breath of fresh air is HP fanfics. Their romance usually follows a lot of hardship and requires pereverance for them both. She is a strong character and gives strength to Harry and his weaker characteristics.
I also have read the more obscure pairings. Harry/Narcissa, Harry/Amelia etch and can find merit in each of them. For me it's more of how harrys' counterpart affect him and the differences each bring to the story.
I love fics that go more in depth into the Black family and the characters. JK really neglected this and could have added so many new factors and overall substance to the books but exploring and including more of them.
i will update this more and more as I read further into the archives... Thank for reading.
