I'm a hopeless Harry Potter and Doctor Who fan, whose only hope is his belief in Jesus Christ. And although I started that statement jokingly (only with regards to Harry Potter and Doctor Who), I do believe in Jesus, and I do not wish anyone to think I take that belief lightly. Sorry, that took a strangely stern turn. As a bit of background, I was reading the profile page of another Fan-fiction member, and I ran across the following post attached to his/her bio: "If you believe in Jesus Christ put this in your profile and don't just ignore this, because in the Bible it says if you deny me, I will deny you in front of my Father in the gates of Heaven" As soon as I read it I knew that I BOTH should and should not post the command. I do not like that whoever originally thought-up this post used the words of Jesus to guilt others into posting such an identification. I do not like this because we are called not to cause our brothers to stumble. And I certainly consider the above quote as a stumbling block for those who would read it and possibly turn away from Jesus' love because of the manipulative purpose to which it was turned. Having said that, I DO want to post the identification because I do believe in Jesus and I certainly don't want to deny my savior. So, if you've read this far, I hope that this hopefully frank post will give you a better view of the above quote. I hope that neither my own personal shortcomings or the shortcomings of other Christians will keep any of you who read this from giving Jesus your full consideration. Although we are called as Christians to live our lives out of love for one another and for our God, we must all remember that our fallen human nature means that we Christians, like all other humans, often choose to ignore the higher and more difficult calling of God's Love for the more immediate and (quite frankly) carnally pleasing "instincts." We Christians must remember that all of any good that ever comes from our lives comes only because of God's grace, mercy, inspiration, and provision. And conversely, every evil that comes as a result of our lives DOES NOT come from Jesus. Instead that evil results from our own selfish actions and conceits. If this post has made you feel any bit of curiosity about Christ and His love for you, I want you to know that GOD DOES LOVE YOU! Here is a verse from the Bible to help explain just how much God loves you: Romans 5:6-10 6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. 8But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! 10 For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!
