With the team so focused on keeping Shaw safe after her cover was blown, it was almost too easy for Samaritan to grab a completely different member of the team. What happens when Shaw is forced to look at how she feels for Root in the wake of the hacker's kidnapping by none other than Martine? Maggie is trying not to be jealous of Supergirl. Honestly, Alex may not even realize how close she is to the superhero, how strong her feelings are. But, it's just hard to look at your girlfriend be so close to another woman. Until, of course, it isn't.

Five short ficlets from Alex's point of view, telling a bit of a deeper story as to what she might have been feeling with regards to various interactions with Maggie Sawyer.

fix it fic, post 5.13 Root is alive. . The Machine had told Shaw She'd tried to save Root twelve thousand times after she got shot, but Shaw had died 7005 times for her, and if She really is a God, how can She have failed in something Shaw succeeded in doing?

Sameen is still healing from Samaritan's torture, her mind playing with her as she struggles to distinguish reality from simulation. That not only makes Shaw angry, but also Root, who will try to take revenge. [Shoot]

Set directly after fanfic Continuation - Season 6, Time to move on tells the story of how Root and Shaw become a family as they embark on a new life. This fanfic is explicit as I also touch on the theme of trauma.

Root has finally tracked down Shaw with the help of the Machine after Shaw's time captive with Samaritan. We know what happened when they first are reunited and we know what happened when they met up with the rest of the team. But, what about the in between? I plan to continue about Shaw's first week back, leading up to Finch's cover being blow. Then again post Root's "death".

"Was Root always changing right in front of you? Alternating frequencies, tuning in and out, coming to you in waves and hoping you might feel her one day?"

Shaw has escaped from Samaritan and now she is back. A series of moments after her return with the rest of the team, and especially with Root.

You watch her sleep and only partially feel like a creep, you look and look and look at her, watching and waiting for a glitch, a sign, a tell that this is page number 7055 in the book written with blood and pain on the back of your brain, and that she's not really Root. (Somehow, you could always tell. You still killed yourself at the end of the simulation.)

Shaw and Root after Samaritan goes down and Shaw comes back. Code names, baiting John, and surprise kissing. This is a continuous story, but I'm calling it a series of drabbles because (a) they're all short and (b) the tone varies more than I like in a single work.

Snapshots of Shaw after she hears Root has died, as she fights the instincts telling her that this is no longer a simulation.

Just another one shot I saw from a tublr prompt. Root misses being able to really listen to music so Shaw goes out of her way at Christmas to make her wish come true.

This is my spin on how Root and Shaw meet again after Shaw has been working for Samaritan for a little bit. It is is just a one-shot fluff piece but it is pretty intense. I would love to see something like this happen IRL.

Root and Shaw go undercover at a rather unique club.

It's the little things that count.

"Morning Sweetie" Root chirps, adding to her agitation. "You should know better than to wake me without coffee and food."

"Hey Root?" shaw says and waits until all the hacker's attention is focused on her (which never takes long where Root is concerned) and she kisses her full on the mouth. By the time Root recovers Shaw's already half way out and she blows the still dazed hacker a kiss.

Post-Samaritan with Shaw struggling to talk about the kind of future she wants with Root. Fluff.

Shaw's never going to live this down, she's sure of it but oddly enough she can live with that. Damn Eeyore Root and the things she does for her.

There's a candy thief in the subway and Shaw wants revenge.

Shaw rolled her eyes, wondering if the Machine had something to do with it or if it was indeed some sort of cosmic joke. The song was haunting her, punctuating every significant moment with Root like the terrible soundtrack to an even worse movie. "This isn't our song," Shaw cringed as the music went on, "not that I'm agreeing that we have a song, Root."

After a tough job Shaw just wants to go home, until a figure from the past resurfaces with an interesting proposition. Contains Shoot smut!

"Being Her prophet used to be enough." A post 4.13 exploration of what lengths Root will go to to get Shaw back, and how her relationship with the Machine (and with herself) changes along the way. Canon compliant through 4.18, then deviates. Root/Shaw.

The Machine orders Root to take some R&R for the sake of her own health as well as the mission's, but she and Shaw get pulled into a very complicated situation involving an endangered youth. Eventual RootxShaw. Starts off in season 3. Spoilers present. Rated M for: violence, language, content relating to suicide, discussion of torture (serious stuff, but lighthearted things, too.)

Root pops by somewhat unexpectedly in the dead of night to visit Shaw. Shaw is understandably irritated. Please review if you like. Might turn into a series if people like it.

A mission at Disneyworld can only mean three things: surprises for Reese, character costumes for Team Machine, and Root enjoying said costumes far more than is appropriate.

"The only time she feels alive is when Shaw's hands are on her skin, when she's tugging her closer but knowing that it'll never quite be close enough, this will never be enough but she knows that with Shaw this is all she'll ever get so she'll take it." When Shaw comes back, everything feels unexpectedly familiar. Post "The solitude of ambiguous states", so post 4x12 with tiny details blink-and-you'll-miss-them from the episodes after. (Part 2 of "The empirical nature of shifting conditions")

Root is so good at getting Shaw to do things she doesn't want to do.

Root feels a bullet hit her abdomen, and before she can straighten up, another quickly follows. Then she's falling, falling, and the bullets stop when she hits the floor beneath her. Somewhere close, Sameen Shaw is screaming. Alternate simulation for If-Then-Else.

Making out with Root wasn't on the top of Shaw's to-do list but now that she thought about it, it was actually kind of nice. Especially when she did that thing with her tongue... oh yeah she could get used to this.

A typical date but not really a date between Root and Shaw

No matter how many people question Shaw's relationship (or lack thereof) to Root she insists there is nothing between them. Of course Root disagrees.

When she got to Shaw's lips, she let her fingers rest on the other woman's cheek, and kept her fingertip running on Shaw's lips, as if she was drawing them, as if they didn't exist before that. "You don't feel anything?" despite the darkness, Root's eyes never failed to be expressive.

Humans were flawed because they could feel; because their emotions clouded their rationale, their judgment, and their logic. So what was someone then, who claimed they could not feel? •Root/Shaw• ...ABANDONED...

""I trusted you, Root." the smaller woman said between clenched jaws. She forced the sharp blade harder against Root's neck. A trail of blood started running through the blade as the skin gashed underneath its pressure." A story about the relationship between Root and Shaw and the teams fight against Samaritan.

Root does not stop. She does not give up. Never.

The first time she wakes up, she's barely conscious. Five times Shaw wakes up. Post 4x12 - If-Then-Else. (Part 1 of "The empirical nature of shifting conditions")

Shaw's grown accustomed to Root dropping by to see her at the make-up counter, but one night, the hacker decides to pay her a home visit. One-shot.

Root received no warning save the shadow that settled over her own a nanosecond before an arm wrapped tight around her waist and another knocked her pistols to the ground. She remembered this. The scent of vetiver and danger from drifting just a little too close, the feel of hard efficiency mixed with undeniably feminine softness... "Sameen?"

Somehow, Shaw muses, she should have anticipated this becoming a thing. But the first time it happens she doesn't think much of it. (Four times Root sneaked up on Shaw and one time she didn't.)

It was never supposed to end this way, Shaw thinks. It was never supposed to be Root. AU, in which Root sacrifices herself instead of Shaw. Set in 4x11.

"Why did we stop?" you ask, and you don't even try to keep the accusation out of your tone. Being stuck in an elevator with Root is exactly the last thing you need right now. "What did you do?"

She looks at you with those tired eyes and that sad, sad smile. She looks at you the way the pulling in your chest feels, painfully and relentlessly, and you don't know what to do with it. (4x05 Prophets. Sameen comes back.)

They have always kept their distance. What happens when they want to stop pretending?

Shaw is tied up by enemy agents and Root comes to her rescue... or does she? The events afterwards all build up to Shaw looking at Root in a different light. Really pretty much pure smut and mildly N/C.

Root thought she had lost Shaw. But Shaw is alive. Shaw is here.

Root doesn't know how to let go of the rage. So she lets it consume her. Multi POVs.

Sameen looked intently into Root's eyes and adamantly stated, "Only this time."

Five times they kiss, and its nothing but a dream. And the one time its real, very real.

Root will never stop hoping for her come-back.

Shaw makes a discovery of sorts.

It was an unspoken thing. How Shaw would always lay down facing the door and Root the window. Back to back. Never fully touching but close enough that Root could always feel Shaw's warmth on her back.

Root co-opts Shaw into a date using her "for the mission" logic against her. Can be seen as a sequel to "Ramen and Heels," but also stands alone.

Shaw is good at anger.

Shaw realizes something (4.05).

Post-4.05. On top of feeling alone and overwhelmed, Root doesn't know what Shaw would say if she knew about the message Root tried to give Harold, but she gets a chance to find out when Shaw tracks her down.

Shaw is not good at morning after, neither is Root, maybe they'll never be.

Shaw doesn't know why but the minute Finch says 'at any cost' she knows what to do, where to go. She is eighty percent sure – maybe, seventy percent, seventy-five – if Root is still alive then Shaw knows where she would go. -Coda to 4x05/Femslash-

The Machine is on the cusp of bringing Samaritan down. Root is also reaching what she feels is the end, just as Shaw starts to think she might want a beginning. Angsty Root is angsty and Shaw responds like, well, Shaw. Rating K now for language, might change later. Title is from the song "Echo" by Jason Walker, inspiration for where Root is coming from emotionally.

Set post-Wingman (4x03). Root delivers a few presents to Shaw's apartment, steals something, and still manages to get the last word in. To be fair, Shaw does get to do some teasing of her own. Just a little Shoot fluff to brighten your day :)

She was not sure when the moment was, but the voice that was supposed to tell her that she felt, what she felt was starting to get louder and louder.
