Poll: Would you be interested in participating in a writing meme? (Meaning, I'd set a date and time when I'd be online (on a more interactive website, not ffnet), and respond to theme-based prompts from the reviewers in real-time. By 'participating', I mean providing prompts.) Vote Now!

What I write: 'For want of a nail' stories and 'canon quirks' are historically my favorites. However, I also often write AUs, 'what if' scenarios, and time/dimensional travel. I will not write full length romance fics (if it's secondary to the plot, I'll slip it in, but it won't be the primary focus and all bets are off for drabbles and one-shots). I usually avoid writing any sexual activity over a 'T' rating, both because I don't want to be kicked off the site and because I find it creepy to write such things about characters portrayed by actors (or cartoons. In many ways, that's worse). When I DO write such things, I don't post them on ffnet.
What I read: Pretty much anything; any rating, pairing, orientation, length, format, genre...If the summary looks interesting, the fic has good recs, or it meets whatever criteria I'm searching for at that moment (often a specific character or trope), I'll take a look. I will not read anything that has a blatantly self-indulgent OC in it; I despise self inserts and Mary Sues. I also avoid stories that are badly written (if you can't get a moderately good handle on spelling and grammar, you have no business calling yourself a writer), inadvertently OOC (some intentionally OOC crack stories are hilarious), or that contain obvious squicks.

When will you update (Insert Story Title)?
In most cases, I honestly cannot tell you. I have multiple sequels and chapters in the works, but I write as inspiration strikes. If you ask, I'll be more than happy to tell you how the next bit is going (how much I've currently got, how many scenes are left, etc.), but I won't be able to tell you a definite future unless I'm well into the editing phase.
Will you read and review my story?
Maybe. I'm very busy and avoid certain types of stories, but you can ask. I'll try to let you down gently if the answer is 'no'. (However, don't bother asking me to read OC centric stories. Those I definitely will not read.)
Temporal Displacement (Really Sucks): This started as just a little exercise to break through my writer's block, but the response was amazing and some of the reviewer comments inspired me to write more. As I've said, I don't know WHEN I'll update, but it is now an active story.
Souls Without: I started Souls Without because I'd been reading daemon!fics in various fandoms and realized there were none in Bleach. Not a single one. I didn't have much spare time, or any experience with fusion 'verses, but I figured that I could add at least one fic to the genre, even if it was only a short series of drabbles. And who knows? Maybe I'll inspire other writers to take up the challenge.
Howling at the Moon: Starrk is my favorite espada, possibly my favorite character in Bleach, and after watching the anime, I quickly finished reading all of the Starrk-centric fanfics on ffnet. I decided there were not nearly enough and chose to add a contribution in the form of a series of drabbles, much like Tales Untold. However, the whole 'drabble' thing only lasted a few chapters and the story quickly became a series of one-shots instead.
Nicol's New Fate: My oldest ongoing fic. I am DEDICATED to finishing it, even if it takes me another decade. I've already said my apologies for the length of time between updates (the record is four years) but I'm truly hoping to add another chapter soon. There are only four or five chapters left, so that should be a good start.
Broken Devotion: A rather brutal spur-of-the-moment idea that I'm torn about continuing. On the one hand, as it is, the implied ending is horribly dark...but on the other, it is an ending and I'm not sure I want to cheapen it with what comes next. (In my mind, Zuko's not out of the game yet.)

I'm still alive!
As I've mentioned, real life will be extremely hectic at least through mid-June, probably through July.
Expect a more substantial update then.
Thanks to everyone who pm'd me with good wishes and support! You guys are awesome! :)

The events in May passed without a hitch, and June...well, it happened. XD The next milestone is next week; I"ll be gone July 5-10 (no internet at the conference hotel) with the actual event (well, my part in it) on the ninth. Once that's over (and I'm EXTREMELY nervous), I'll have a meeting with the leader of my committee to discuss the rest of the summer.
Hopefully, that will be the worst of it until the end of the September and I'll be able to update in the meantime.
