I HAVE EXCITING NEWS!
I published a book! If you like my writing, handsome vampires with a tortured past, tough females who kick ass, the locale of Santa Fe, New Mexico, art, and torrid love stories filled with action and mystery, search for "Cazadora" by Julia DeBarrioz on Amazon, iTunes, Barnes & Noble, SmashwordsDOTcom, or GoodreadsDOTcom.
It's the story of Dakota del Toro, a painter turned bounty hunter in lycanthrope infested Santa Fe, New Mexico. Don Diego de Gama, gallery owner and vampire, is staging a little undead revolution in her town. He wants her help—and her heart. When the search for a missing mafia princess leads Dakota into the mysterious world of Changelings, teenage outsiders who like to pretend they are were-creatures and play for blood, she stumbles upon a wicked witch of the Amazon and a villain from her past thought long dead. In a deadly race to save the very soul of her city Dakota has no choice but to add revolutionary to her résumé.

Hi, my name is Sleepy Lotus, and I am a fanfic addict...
It's true. It takes up horrendous amounts of my time, writing and reading. There is a raw connection in fanfiction to real people that usually I find glaringly absent in published fiction. Straight from the author to reader, no editors or commercial interests in the way. It's just me, you, real thoughts and someone else's characters to play them out.
My original fiction mostly centers around vampires, but here I dabble in lots of things.
I've written a lot here. In my own personal opinion, my best fics are: Mine Is A Four Letter Word, Crossfire, Quiet Girl, More Than One Way to Live Forever, and With This Ring. The rest are quite old, but I leave them posted anyway to look back on. Read at your peril, mate. ;)
I like Daria because she apologizes neither for who she is, nor her disdain for the invertebrates she finds herself trapped in class with.
I like Jack Sparrow because he is free as his namesake and hilariously clever.
And the Southern Vampire mysteries and True Blood...well, I don't really like them, you see. I watch the series, I've read most of the books (flinchingly, the latter), and I'm almost always disappointed one way or another. Yet, I find the worlds they've created so engaging to play in. So in the end, I guess I still owe Charlaine Harris and Alan Ball a big tip of the hat.
I love to travel, and once had a tendency to run away from my real life to various corners of the world, and obsess over various cultures for a few months at a time. Now that I'm married to the love of my life and seemingly running a shelter for small and disarmingly cute farm animals, I've settled down a tad.
I have a degree in fine art and love to draw and paint, but my gripping passion is writing.
