Author has written 26 stories for Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Silmarillion, Black Jewels Trilogy, Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, and Dragonriders of Pern series. UPDATE 11/25/19: I've resurrected this account in a very limited manner to finish posting In A Position To Persevere, but I am otherwise no longer active on . I am still writing, especially in the Dragonriders of Pern fandom, but I dabble in a number of small fandoms. Please come visit me at Archive of Our Own if you're interested in reading any of my post-2009 fic; my username is calenlily there as well. Thank you to all my readers and reviewers for the good years we had here. Below I leave intact my circa 2009 profile as a monument to my identity in the time I was active here. (I have no idea why you're spending your time reading this, but since you obviously are, I suppose I'll tell you about myself. Dislikes: Mary Sues, mindless fangirls, writer's block, flames, incorrect spelling and grammar, writers who don't bother to get their facts straight, TV, mushrooms, onions, homework. Likes: Reading, writing, drawing, daydreaming, beading and other craftwork, archery, being weird, the internet, my friends, all things medieval, all things fantasy, LotR, Harry Potter, Good Omens, Firefly, BJT, BtVS, reviews, constructive criticism. My name is Maia, I live in Alaska, and I seriously need a life. Until such a time may come when I get one, I make do with various book-related obsessions instead. Let's see, what else is there to say about me? I do website maintenance for work, and I am actually working on my own personal site right now, which is now finally up, but my true passion in life is writing. However, I can be a rather slow writer (I greatly admire the people who can update their stories once a week or more). I could care less about most sports, but I love archery, though will warn anyone who wants to try it that it is quite difficult, even if it does look easy in the movies, and I also fence. I think the internet is one of the greatest things ever created, therefore I spend far too much time on it. I have a livejournal, where you are welcome to visit me, if you are ever in the mood for my pointless ramblings about life, fandoms, and everything. I recommend the PPC stories by Jay and Acacia, which, sadly, have been kicked off , but can now be found here. I also like Drew and AW's MSTs, which have also been taken from . A wonderful fansite for all things LotR is Council of Elrond. Though I like many books and movies, my longest and most constant interest has been in LotR for quite a while, so that's the majority of my writings. I've only written one-shots so far, but I'm currently trying to get a longer story up. We'll see how that goes. I am a Tolkien purist. My favorite characters are Aragorn, Legolas, Elladan and Elrohir, Arwen, and Eowyn. My favorite 'ships are Aragorn/Arwen, Faramir/Eowyn, and Eomer/Lothiriel. Harry Potter was my first ever fandom, and I occasionally still turn my attention in that direction, and am working on my first HP story, which is my longest piece so far. In that world, my favorite characters are Lily and the Marauders, and my favorite 'ships are JP/LE, HP/GW, and RW/HG. I have a tendency to obsession about one fandom or another. Recently was the Black Jewels Trilogy because it is made of awesome. I absolutely love Daemon, and my other favorite characters (in order) are Surreal, Lucivar, Jaenelle, Marian, Karla, and Saetan. Daemon/Jaenelle is my ultimate OTP, and Lucivar/Marian is another favorite 'ship of mine. Really, I support all the canon ships, though I'm glad Surreal and Falonar broke up. There are days when I think I am Marian. There are days when I feel like Jaenelle too. There are a lot of times when I want to be Jaenelle (even though she annoys me occasionally). Expect most of my newest writing to be BJT related. I'd better be quiet now before I sound too even more obsessive and fangirlish than I already do. My obsession du jour is Buffy: the Vampire Slayer. B/A is my OTP, as I live for 'shipping. Angel is totally sexy. Spike is a cool character and very funny, but I don't find him at all attractive and I can't stand the B/S 'ship. Willow is so much like me that it's kinda scary sometimes. She's my favorite character apart from Buffy and Angel. B/Aus is my guilty pleasure. I like way too many 'ships in this series: Willow/Tara, Willow/Oz, Spike/Drusilla, Spike/Faith, Spike/Dawn, Connor/Dawn, Doyle/Cordelia, Xander/Anya, and Giles/Jenny. I find Riley rather lame, but I think fandom treats him far worse than he deserves, and I can empathize with him in a way. The fact that I'm sympathetic to him probably has something to do with the fact that he's so obviously wrong for Buffy that I don't ee him as a threat to my shipping preferences. Mini rant for the day: It is really annoying when people do a lot of begging for reviews. So I don't put messages in my fics asking for reviews. And I never get any. But I really value reviews, just as much as anyone else, so I feel like I'm forced to start asking. Please review, all you nice people out there. From now on, I will promise this: If you review any of my fics, I will at least reply to your review (assuming there is enough content in it to be worth a reply), and I will try my best to read and review some of your stories. Oh, and constructive criticism is a good thing. I love being told, "this is a good story," but con crit is much more helpful. Now, I've gone on quite long enough, so I'll just stop here. Probably no one's even reading this anymore anyway.) |
