After Third Impact, Shinji and Asuka are broken, without hope, and desperate. After the events of 'A Throne of Bayonets', things are worse. Burned out, shattered, and barely even willing to go on living, Asuka and Shinji are about to be sent into yet another war in South America. But then a stranger shows up and offers them a second chance at their lives.

[Post 3.33]After the world narrowly escaped a 4th Impact, Shinji Ikari is broken. Asuka Shikinami must take charge and lead both him and the confused 'Rei Ayanami' across a vast wasteland to the place the Lilin can get them.

Asuka thought of herself as many things. Elite pilot, protector, smart and broken. Now she wakes up in a new landscape caused by Third Impact and has to face that she was the catalyst for the end of the world. Vowing to protect Shinji, both pilots must confront their pasts and themselves as they try to survive.

What would happen if we had everything we ever wanted? What if certain tragedies, in the past, were averted? One would normally think this would make a better world. Some old traumas could be gone. But the new pains could be worse.

The world has changed and not in a way anybody could have anticipated. Now the survivors have to continue to live in a world they never would have thought they would.

In the year 2020, the world is still reeling from Third Impact. The three unfinished MP EVAs have been completed, and Shinji and Asuka have been called to Berlin to pilot once again. But the new regime isn't the only one interested in the children...
