Author has written 9 stories for Harry Potter, and Doctor Who.
Over the last few months, I’ve become obsessed with the Doctor Who television series. Had you asked me last year, I would have told you, “Doctor Who? Why would I want to watch that? Looks boring. Just another science fiction show for geeks.”
I’ve never really cared for science fiction television shows. In fact, until I watched Sherlock, I didn’t really watch TV shows at all. I always felt it was sorta like reading incomplete fan fiction; you get all interested in a show, only to find you have to wait to see what happens next. It could be days… or it could be years. I’ve never been very patient and tend only to read fan fiction stories that have that lovely “completed” designation.
Now, not only am I reading non-completed fan fiction, realising authors need encouragement as they write, I’m watching Doctor Who. Ok, ok, who am I kidding? I knew very well fan fiction writers need encouragement as they write; I’ve just always been far too selfish to wait. Again… I’m far too impatient.
I have to say it’s all thanks to Sherlock, for Dr. Who would never have tempted me without going through withdrawal for Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat's’ work. I had to get some sort of fix while waiting for Sherlock season 4 to come out. Who knew I’d stumble upon another addiction. I suppose I’m lucky I’ve got the 10th, 11th, and 12th doctors, not to mention all the specials, to get through before I need to find another sort of television/book/movie addiction.
I can’t wait to hear what you all think about my Doctor Who stories. I’m certainly not an expert yet. After all, I haven’t even made it through Season 2. That being said, I’ve hunted and pecked through various seasons and did get the opportunity to see the 12th Doctor in the theater this Christmas for the special, so I have some idea where I’m heading… but I’ve got a long way to go.
And… just as a note… I'm from the U.S., so my writing may not be very authentic when it comes to British phrases or slang, so you fans across the water… if you read something that sounds a bit off, don’t hesitate to mention it.
