People often talk about being a writer in the same light as being a cursed artist. I'm inclined to agree. As a writer you have entire worlds and universes swarming and mucking about in your head at all hours of the day in the most blessedly inconvenient of ways.

You see the story better than anyone, it plays out in the recesses of your brain in full cinematic glory. We hear the scoring and we see the flawless edits and we're hit with the unwavering urge to share it with anyone willing to sit down and read it. We want them to feel everything we hope they will when they read our most proud pieces.

But then a comma trips you up, or you spend days battling a semicolon that ends in the inevitable plague of writer's block. You realize some things are just impossible to translate through text and no matter how good you are you'll never feel like it's perfect.

I've been a writer all my life, and I'll be the first to tell you I am dreadful when it comes to abandoning stories. But I hope you decide to stay for a spell on the off chance I happen to start posting again.
