Oh, goodness, you've found me. You're probably actually reading this because you are a bit curious about who I am behind my fanfiction. Well, then.
- I'm old enough to know better. Like that ever stopped anyone.
- No one's made any discussion about my gender. I figure they assume I'm female. They're correct.
- My username is obviously a pun on "social butterfly," which is something that I am not. (I am a pink ladybug because ladybugs are cute and I like pink.)
- I am a biology major at a four-year university. It's all fun and games until I'm bogged down with homework whichisallthetimegorramit.
- I don't update often. There are many reasons for this, school-related busy-ness not the least of them. Lack of confidence/inspiration/motivation/all of the above in variable proportions tend to factor in when I actually do have time.
- I am a Bible-believing Christian. This does not factor into my writing as much as you'd like to think.
- I am a basket case for all sorts of reasons. My foci can change pretty rapidly, as can my writing style. For this reason I tend to turn out one-shots and drabbles rather than multi-chapter fics. I believe this gives me more freedom to experiment, especially considering I spend most of the year too busy to write and so I have to be choosy with my commitments.
Thank you for stopping by!
Have fun browsing! :D
Picking Up the Pieces (Treasure Planet) - This one holds a special place in my heart -- a lot of planning went into it, and I continue to be amazed at how it paid off. Jim's relationship (or lack thereof) with his father always intrigued me, so I explored it.
Rainbow Ink (Harry Potter) - A just-for-fun, pocket-sized drabble to express my fondness for Harry x Luna.
Feather Dark (Harry Potter) - I wrote this in four hours after getting back from seeing the HBP movie. Delightfully fun to write.
Just One Sentence Away (Fruits Basket) - I'd been seeing the "50 Sentence Challenge" thing around, and while I'm not sure I did it quite right, this was wonderful to break some writer's block. Plus, Yuki x Tohru is just right, I don't care what canon says.
Closure (Treasure Planet) - A companion/sequel to "Picking Up the Pieces" that I finished the month I graduated from high school.
Orange (Fruits Basket) - A random one-shot I did during a slow week in AP Calculus. Nothing terribly special beyond possibly building head-canon until I finally finish the manga.
Embrace (Fruits Basket) - Another random one-shot, this one came to me while trying to fall back asleep after waking up at 5:30 AM for no reason. Haru and Yuki have such an interesting relationship dynamic...
Descriptions (Sherlock) - Well, I needed to write something for the show, or I'd go stir crazy. I will keep adding to this indefinitely, but this will always be set to "Complete" status.
The Licorice Stick (Sherlock) - What else do you get an idea to write when you're messing about on an instrument you haven't touched in five years? Writing this made me realize FFN desperately needs a "Slice-of-life" genre (no, "General" doesn't cover it right).
Ten Pushups (Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters) - One of numerous one-offs I wrote shortly after seeing the movie. Partly inspired by the sword sparring dynamic between myself and a friend, with whom I happen to have a rather sibling-esque relationship. Totally just for fun.
Knowing (Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters) - Hansel's evasiveness and his lack of reaction to Muriel's reveal of the siblings' past lead to suddenly head-canon.
Found (Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters) - There are a couple ways to take Gretel and Ben's relationship, and this is the one I went with.
Wondering (The Tempest) - "The Tempest" is my favorite Shakespeare play that I've read. I wrote this shortly after seeing it performed in the 2013 season at the Globe theatre (yes, that one with Colin Morgan -- and yes, there were girls who were only there for him, and I was so irritated...). Ariel kinda got under my skin.
Vanishing Winter (The Incredibles / Rise of the Guardians crossover) - This came out of a plot bunny that wouldn't leave me alone. And I'm glad it didn't. This was a joy to write, and a joy to post, and I am so grateful that so many people followed, reviewed, favorited, and generally joined me along the ride. I intend to write some follow-ups to this somewhere in the near-ish future, so be on the lookout!
Recovery (Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters) - I saw on imbd that Gretel was originally going to have an eating disorder. My brain ran with it.
Inclement Weather (Rise of the Guardians) - I wondered how the Tooth Fairy might have first heard about Jack Frost (and his teeth).
No Regrets (Digimon) - This has been one of my babies for the past couple years; it's been difficult to write, and it's gotten personal, and I'll be sad when the journey is over. I can only hope, when it's finished, that I did right by the themes and the characters. March 2014 - Slated to be taken down, revised/rewritten, and reposted in the near future...
Vanishing Winter -- Followup series (The Incredibles/Rise of the Guardians crossover) - Begins with Hold. One-shots or two-shots (not very long, anyway) focusing on various events after Vanishing Winter. Not necessarily posted in chronological order, but I will give chronology as needed.
The Tigress and the Boar series (The Croods) - Various shorts of varying lengths, about Guy and Eep -- times alone, times together, times they were preoccupied in one way or another with each other. Not necessarily posted in order, but I will give chronology as needed.
Other one-shots and multi-chaptered fics are often in the works alongside what I list as in-progress, but I don't bother listing one-shots as in-progress, and I don't announce multi-chapters until I know they're not going to become dead-fics.
(Did you catch that? I don't do dead-fics! Just very long waits... My apologies in advance.)
