Who Am I?
My name is Rachel. I am a writer, an aspiring novelist and an artist. I post on my deviant art page, lots of fanart. You know the drill - just remove the spaces;

I try and write each day, and I find that Fan Fiction is a great way to practice my skills. For this reason, I love constructive criticism, pull me up on grammar, p.o.v problems, my character development. I find that with characters already formed I can practice more and it helps with writer's block. I have two original idea's that I am currently working on; this means that I might not update as often as I would want to prioritise these over my Fan Fiction. I am also starting a blog about writing and the things that I am learning about the technicalities of writing.
My favourite characters tend to be redeemed characters, complex characters. I find that they are more interesting, more real. I guess this is why Snape is my favourite, and features in many of my stories. I crave characters like him; I want to create characters as intricate and complex as him. I want my characters that go on as redemptive a journey as Snape went on. I love that even though he had changed sides and changed so dramatically, he was still so grey. I love that all Rowling's characters are grey, that no one is 'white' they are shades of grey, just like you and me.
I do not post any of my original writing online at the moment, but I work daily from prompts or working on building the world and the characters for one of the novels that I have in mind.
I also Beta read. I love this; it keeps my skills sharp, forces me to read stories I wouldn't usually read, and it has me reading and writing in different styles. I have a Beta profile, and I currently Beta for two authors, so I don't have time for more right now.
On top of all this, I work with children in the care system, and this means 24-hour shifts. This means that my life is not my own; depending on the rota that I get or how many staff members decide to call in sick; I can have next to no time to write. There are vast bursts of time I manage to get, where I can write non stop for days. It's a mixed bag, and sometimes my life is stressful and so emotionally draining as I deal with a lot at work, usually writing help's, but sometimes I will sit with a tub of Ben and Jerrys and binge watch Netflix rather than do ... anything.
I thought I would add a section to my profile where I can leave an update of where I am in each of the fics that I have on the go at the moment. I have a poll for which story I should prioritise whilst in the Quidditch League, please vote:
1. A Double Agent - Re-Writing / IN PROGRESS

I am not too happy with chapter fours ending - I really struggled so it might be edited later on - I am going to be working on this as soon as I have managed to get to grips with 'It's Bloody Better Chapter 3'. I am also planning on making this a shorter story and having a sequel deal with the outcome of the Grudge. But that will all become clear!

"Someday you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again." - C.S. Lewis
"The person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid." - Jane Austen
"In your world, I have another name... you must learn to know me by that name. This was the very reason why you were brought to Narnia, that knowing me here for a little, you may know me better there." - Aslan
"After all, reading is arguably a far more creative and imaginative process than writing; when the reader creates emotion in their head, or the colours of the sky during the setting sun, or the smell of a warm summer's breeze on their face, they should reserve as much praise for themselves as they do for the writer - perhaps more." - Jasper Fforde
"The Dark Lord has Nine. But we have One, mightier than they: the White Rider. He has passed through fire and the abyss, and they shall fear him. We will go where he leads." - J.R.R. Tolkien
"We've all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are." - Sirius Black
"You do care, you care so much you feel as though you will bleed to death with the pain of it" - Albus Dumbledore
"From the tip of his wand burst the silver doe; she landed on the office floor, bounded across the office, and soared out of the window. Dumbledore watched her fly away, and as her silvery glow faded he turned back to Snape, and his eyes were full of tears. 'After all this?' 'Always,' said Snape" - J.K. Rowling
"I'm not crazy, my reality is just different from yours," - The Cheshire Cat
"A hero so heroic that he would cast himself as the villain as long as it meant doing the right thing" - J.K. Rowling
